1989 Ford Taurus Sho With Yamaha 24v V6 And 5 Speed Manual Transmission.....rare on 2040-cars
Colonial Heights, Virginia, United States
Are you looking for a good, reliable, sporty car with a recent Virginia inspection and working AC ?
(check the attached pictures) This car has been owned by the same elderly owner for over 13 years (my father), he can not drive a manual anymore. A local garage (Colonial Tire) has complete all service work and inspections since he has owned the car and copies of the services are available if new owner desires to have them printed out at the shop. This Taurus SHO, has the 220 HP Yamaha V-6 with a 7300 RPM redline. It also has a recently rebuilt 5 speed manual transmission with clutch replacement (and a spare clutch in the trunk) Taurus SHOs are the real 4 door sport cars, Front Wheel Drive and have 4 wheel disc brakes. This vehicle has the R134A Air Conditioning conversion and it blows quite cold (not important in November, but very important in May to early September) This SHO has little to no rust and runs and drives well. An August Virginia inspection insures good tires, brakes and general road-worthiness. Here is your chance to get a decent car for a decent price. My dad has 3 other cars and has to get rid of at least 2 of them. Drive it away. True mileage is unknown.....it appears the instrument cluster was replaced before my father bought the car. The car has been maintained by professional mechanics and has passed inspection each year including 2012. Buyer is responsible for pickup Paypal payment within 48 hours of auction end. |

Ford files trademark application for 'Model E'
Fri, 27 Dec 2013In early December, Ford filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the name "Model E." Historically, Ford never produced a Model E, and while automakers are known to file for trademarks they never use, some have wondered if the application might be used for a concept car.
Based on other recent events, though, it could be a legal move. In 2000 Ford sued an online start-up called Model E over the similarity of that name to Ford's industry-shaping Model T, but the judge dismissed the case citing lack of proper grounds. In August 2013, Tesla applied for trademark registration for Model E, and at the time, Ford said it would review the application. Tesla actually made two applications for Model E, one for automobiles and structural parts therefore, the other for "providing maintenance and repair services for automobiles," and there are plenty of theories about what the name could be applied to.
The Published for Opposition date for Tesla's applications is December 31, 2013, after which anyone who thinks they'd be harmed by Tesla being granted the trademark gets 30 days to register their issues. This is just speculation, but Ford's application - which was filed for automobiles only - might be about protecting what it sees as unwelcome encroachment on the name Model T, protection it wasn't able to enforce before when the stakes were only online and much smaller.
The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.
Ford C-Max spied with fresh updates
Fri, 05 Sep 2014The Ford C-Max hatchback looks to be getting a few cosmetic updates, as evidenced in this latest set of spy photos. Like the smaller Focus, which also received a nip/tuck for the 2015 model year, the C-Max appears to be getting a revised front fascia with slimmer headlamps and a more, shall we say, Aston Martin-like grille. Around back, there looks to be a new bumper with redesigned taillamps, as well.
In other markets, the C-Max people-mover is available with a range of powertrains, but here in the US, it exists either as a traditional gas-electric or plug-in hybrid. The C-Max's fuel economy has been a particular topic of interest lately, with its official fuel economy ratings having been lowered twice since the vehicle's launch. Sales initially suffered a bit following this fiasco, though numbers have since leveled out. It's unclear if Ford is working on any powertrain tweaks for the updated C-Max seen here, however.
Ford has likely spruced up the hatch's interior, as well, though we don't have photos of that at this time. Mum's the word on when we'll see the new C-Max, but our best guess is that it'll arrive sometime in the next year.
