NO RESERVE: THIS WILL SELL! This is a 2004 Ford Ranger Pickup truck. It is the basic truck, with Air Conditioning, am/fm stereo. It is owned by my father who is 78 years old, and did not want to sell it. He is the second owner. He bought it from a dealership January 2009, with 65,800 miles, and the previous owner was a national elevator company. So it was very well maintained with fleet service. The truck now has 111,000 miles and the same excellent maintenance since. The truck starts every time quickly, quietly and purrs. The interior has not been vacuumed or wiped down, not even a car wash; so you can see this really is how the truck has been everyday. Since my father has been diagnosed with his problems, the truck just sat for the last 2-3 years. He would go out to start it, drive it around the block or the occasional trip to Kmart. Non smoking truck. Interior is really nice. No tears, no cracks, wipe it and it will look new. Most recently he started the truck and the Check Engine light came on. I drove it to Advance Auto they read the code and said it may need Catalytic converter. During an emission inspection a last year, a new Oxygen Sensor was installed. About 4 years ago, it needed a transmission, that was covered by the extended warranty. The only other thing that might need attention is the chip on the windshield. It is not cracked, so it may be fine for years, or you can get a "chip filler". I finally convinced my father it is time to sell it, so it will go. Ford says utility vehicles are key to global growth
Tue, 26 Nov 2013While most of us believe that small, fuel efficient cars are the key to global expansion for US automakers, Jim Farley, Ford's vice president of Global Marketing, thinks otherwise. Last week, we attended an exclusive sneak preview of the Ford Edge Concept in advance of the Los Angeles Auto Show, and Farley told us that it's actually utility vehicles that will help the Blue Oval gain market share overseas. "There is no other segment in our industry that is growing like utilities," he said. "We expect over the next five years this full family of [utility] vehicles to really drive our growth as a company."
And Farley has the numbers to back it up, too. Ford projects overall automotive sales to grow 23 percent from 2012 to 2017, but the company's utility vehicles are expected to boom by an impressive 41 percent during that same period. Much of that growth will be in China, where Ford estimates its utility sales will explode. "The biggest opportunity for us globally for utilities is in China," Farley said. "China utility growth is expected to more than double from where it is today to 2017, which isn't that far away." Most astounding is that Ford projects its own utility sales in China will eventually increase by more than 2,000 percent when smaller crossovers, such as the EcoSport and Kuga (sold as the Escape in North America), and the Edge and Explorer, are factored in.
Ford's VP also expects utilities to lead the way in the struggling European market. "With all the difficulties of the European market, there is one segment that has actually expanded in volume over the last several years even though the market is way down, and that's utilities," Farley told us. Ford estimates that their utility sales will grow 65 percent in Europe from 2012-2017. "The utility segment is projected to grow we think about thirty percent between now and 2017 in Europe, and we think we are going to grow twice that rate as a brand," Farley continued.
Ford Fiesta rally car warms up in Sweden
Tue, 18 Mar 2014Rallycross is seeing a sudden surge in popularity with two series bringing the racing to the US and Europe. The Ford OMSE team is competing in both championships this season, and it saw no reason not to hold practice with a highly modified Fiesta in the snow of Northern Sweden. It brought together Andreas Bakkerud from the European-focused FIA World Rallycross Championship and Patrik Sandell from the North American-focused Global Rallycross series for some training and fun. They certainly appear to be enjoying themselves, too, with some lovely pirouettes in the powder.
If you're unfamiliar with rallycross, the discipline combines the best of rallying and circuit racing. Drivers (with no co-drivers) race rally cars over a circuit that generally mixes dirt and asphalt, and unlike traditional rallying, multiple cars compete side-by-side at once. Even better, it's often a very two-fisted form of motorsports with lots of car-to-car contact. Global Rallycross and World Rallycross will both kick off their seasons in May. Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]
Sun, 08 Dec 2013The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.
