It has some wear from over the years but has been very well maintained. There is one small dent behind the rear bumper and the paint has some minor surface scratches that could be buffed out. there is absolutely no rust on this vehicle. This truck is mechanically sound but does need the alternator belt replaced along with oil and filters which can be found at your local auto parts store or rock auto.com."

Hello! You are looking at a beautiful piece of Ford history. This truck is all original and has been kept in a garage most of its life, and it has been well-maintained.

I am the third owner, but it has been in my family since it was brand new. The truck from 1987 to 2005 accrued only 8000 miles. It was garage-kept until my father-in-law purchased it around 2006. He put about 14000 miles on it driving it to work-- mostly interstate travel. Most of the service records have been kept on a note pad. My father in-law gifted this truck to me in 2009 because it had a starting issue and was leaking diesel. Since I am a diesel mechanic, he figured I could fix the problem.

The starting issue was a result of the diesel leak . The 12v wire on the starting solenoid started to corrode from the diesel. I put about 5,000 miles on it before I parked it in a garage for the last four years. I recently pulled the fuel injection pump off and had a gasket kit installed and calibrated. I replaced the front calipers because they were sticking on one side. I would recommend replacing the hydraulic line from the frame block to the caliper because those are known to swell and cause the brakes to stick as well.

I used a restore kit on the a/c because the compressor wasn't engaging due to low pressure. It's been two weeks and its still holding, but I believe one of the hoses is leaking around one of the connection points. The truck looks new on the outside as well as inside. The topper you see was added in 2006, but does come with the truck. The dash has some minor sun damage. There is currently a cd player in it, but the factory radio also comes with the truck.

I am selling this truck not because I need to, but because I have a family now and no longer can enjoy this truck the way some one with the love of small diesels and great milage could. Good luck! If you have any questions you can E-mail me at pacifiicjon22@yahoo.com. Thanks, and happy bidding!

Rising aluminum costs cut into Ford's profit

Wed, Jan 24 2018

When Ford reports fourth-quarter results on Wednesday afternoon, it is expected to fret that rising metals costs have cut into profits, even as rivals say they have the problem under control. Aluminum prices have risen 20 percent in the last year and nearly 11 percent since Dec. 11. Steel prices have risen just over 9 percent in the last year. Ford uses more aluminum in its vehicles than its rivals. Aluminum is lighter but far more expensive than steel, closing at $2,229 per tonne on Tuesday. U.S. steel futures closed at $677 per ton (0.91 metric tonnes). Republican U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is weighing whether to impose tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, which could push prices even higher. Ford gave a disappointing earnings estimate for 2017 and 2018 last week, saying the higher costs for steel, aluminum and other metals, as well as currency volatility, could cost the company $1.6 billion in 2018. Ford shares took a dive after the announcement. Ford Chief Financial Officer Bob Shanks told analysts at a conference in Detroit last week that while the company benefited from low commodity prices in 2016, rising steel prices were now the main cause of higher costs, followed by aluminum. Shanks said the automaker at times relies on foreign currencies as a "natural hedge" for some commodities but those are now going in the opposite direction, so they are not working. A Ford spokesman added that the automaker also uses a mix of contracts, hedges and indexed buying. Industry analysts point to the spike in aluminum versus steel prices as a plausible reason for Ford's problems, especially since it uses far more of the expensive metal than other major automakers. "When you look at Ford in the context of the other automakers, aluminum drives a lot of their volume and I think that is the cause" of their rising costs, said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at auto consultancy LMC Automotive. Other major automakers say rising commodity costs are not much of a problem. At last week's Detroit auto show, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne reiterated its earnings guidance for 2018 and held forth on a number of topics, but did not mention metals prices. General Motors Co gave a well-received profit outlook last week and did not mention the subject. "We view changes in raw material costs as something that is manageable," a GM spokesman said in an email.

Ford bringing adaptive steering to the masses [w/video]

Thu, 29 May 2014

Within the next year, Ford will offer a brand-new adaptive steering system (unimaginatively dubbed "Ford Adaptive Steering"), and this week, the automaker invited us out to its proving grounds in Dearborn, MI to get a taste for how its new setup works. In function, Ford's system doesn't greatly differ from the majority of other adaptive steering units already on the market from companies like Audi or BMW, but consider this: Ford will be the first non-luxury automaker to offer this technology, and uniquely, the whole system fits inside the car's steering wheel.
Ford's engineers have worked hard to create a system that can be tacked on to the company's full lineup of cars, trucks and utility vehicles, and says that the adaptive steering will be uniquely tuned for each specific vehicle. The automaker will not confirm exactly which vehicle will launch with this technology, but for the purpose of our preview, we tested the technology in a 2014 Fusion - a vehicle with already-good behind-the-wheel feel, one that the company says best demonstrates its current steering efforts.

Evo grabs Ford's Fiesta R5 rally car by the scruff

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Evo and host Henry Catchpole were thinking of excuses reasons to borrow the bonkers Ford Fiesta R5 rally car for a day or two, when it struck them: the car is street legal. With access to the R5, some of the world's most beautiful driving roads in the English Lake Country nearby, and a handy video crewing hanging around, the plan seemed to write itself.
Based on the resulting video, it was a good plan. Without spoiling the video for you - something we can't really do in text as the best part is listening to the rally car run - Catchpole finds the Fiesta to be sublimely quick and massively satisfying. Even taking the car for a spin on a pseudo rally stage, after leaving the English countryside, does nothing but add to his assessment of the beastly little Ford. Scroll on below to see for yourself, and enjoy the ride.
