Vehicle Description:

This is a 7-Day NO RESERVE auction for a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT!  HIGH BIDDER WINS!

Rare 4-cyl / 5-speed manual combination in an Extended Cab Ranger!  This truck is far from perfect, but with some work this can be a fuel efficient workhorse again.  Please read the entire description before you bid!  The 4-cylinder engine appears to run smoothly and has plenty of power.  The transmission goes into every gear and the clutch appears to hold well, but occasionally it can be a little difficult to it into gear (usually it goes right in, sometimes you have to give it a little extra push).  I am selling this vehicle as true mileage unknown because the odometer and speedometer do not work.  I do not know how long it has been this way and have no way to estimate the mileage.  This Ranger features the XLT package and includes power windows, power locks, sliding rear glass window, and more.  I have not noticed any leaks on the ground where this Ranger has been sitting but there may be some normal fluid seepage consistent with a 17 year old vehicle.  The brakes stop the car smooth and straight.  The suspension, especially in the front, is rather worn.  This Ranger goes pretty straight down the road, although the steering wheel is turned slightly when the truck is going straight but it does not pull.  All of the tires have some drivable tread remaining.  The spare tire is missing and the right front wheel does not match (appears to be off a newer year Ranger).  The climate control appears to be in working condition except the A/C blows warm.  The radio works and so do the speakers.  The "Door Ajar" light never goes out, even when the doors all appear to be properly shut.  There are no other check engine or other "dummy lights" illuminated.  The exhaust is loud.  Cosmetically -- this Ranger is not the prettiest.  Please see pictures, there is considerable rust and the driver's front fender is damaged.  Includes a locking paint-matched hard fiberglass tonneau cover but I can't get it to sit properly so it is a little propped up (I have not tried to fix this very much).  The interior would benefit from a good cleaning but it is all there.  Small rip in the driver side bolster.  The driver's seatbelt is not securing into the clip (not properly functioning).  This truck does need some work so please bid accordingly!

I have tried my best to represent this vehicle accurately and to the best of my abilities.  Earning and keeping a 100% positive feedback rating is very important to me!  I test drive each vehicle on the expressway and around town for at least 20 miles, often over 100 miles, and use that experience to represent the vehicle to you on eBay.  Please remember that you are buying a used vehicle and that a certain amount of wear/use/flaws are to be expected on any used vehicle -- including this one.  You are welcome and encouraged to come check out this vehicle for yourself and take it for a test drive before the auction ends.  Feel free to email/call me (Michael) at 734-717-3653 with specific questions and I will do my best to answer them.

Auction Details & Payment Information:

The vehicle is for sale locally as well so auction can end at any time.  Bid with confidence as I have represented the vehicle well.  There will be a $100 documentation fee added on to each vehicle sold.  A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction ending via paypal.  The remaining balance will need to be paid within 7 days of the end of the auction by Cash or Cashier's Check.  If you need financing, please have that arranged BEFORE the auction ends.

We are a licensed used vehicle dealer and must collect sales tax/title/plate fees so please contact me prior to the auction ending if you want to know what fees you will have to pay on top of the purchase price.  Michigan residents will pay 6% sales tax, $15 title fee, and whatever your plate ends up being.  For out of state buyers, each state is a different tax/title scenario.  If this is a concern, please contact me before the auction ends and I will tell you exactly how much (if any) tax will be for your state.

Any New eBay bidders or those with zero feedback, please send us a message or give me call to confirm your contact information or your bid will be canceled.

Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping.  We will work with your shipper to help them in any way we can.  We are located in Southeast Michigan in the Metro Detroit area.  We can pick up from Detroit Metro Airport or Detroit Amtrak station for free.  Vehicle is available for local viewing just contact me to set an appointment!  Thanks. Michael @ 734-717-3653.

Next Lincoln Navigator to drop V8 in favor of V6, but Ford Expedition might get both

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

A great many buyers fled from full-size body-on-frame SUVs to car-based crossovers in large measure to save fuel. But that doesn't mean there's still not a buying audience for more traditional truck-based utility vehicles, and those consumers doubtlessly wouldn't mind saving some dollars at the pump, too. According to Motor Trend, those shoppers might be in luck.
That's because the magazine has confirmed that Ford isn't walking away from the full-size SUV segment, and it's poised to do something about its offerings' economy ratings, too. According to MT, global Lincoln director Matt VanDyke has hinted that the next Navigator may drop two cylinders and go with a V6 model - the current model gets just 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway from its 5.4-liter V8. The obvious fitment would be Ford's 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, an engine that has spread like kudzu throughout the rest of the Blue Oval's large vehicle lineup.
Downsized turbocharged engines like Ford's EcoBoost franchise have come under fire as of late for not delivering their EPA fuel economy ratings, but their benefits extend beyond consumption - the 3.5L offers superior power and a better torque curve than the naturally aspirated V8. MT also suggests that Ford's 3.7-liter V6 could form the base engine for the next Navi - it has similar horsepower but a lot less torque than the current 5.4L. That may be less of a problem with the next generation tipped to go on a diet, which could level the playing field somewhat.

2018 Ford Expedition spied looking stylish

Tue, Sep 6 2016

The Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator got a cool reception for their 2015 warmed-over redesign. But with big, high-riding vehicles once again in vogue, Ford is pushing ahead with a ground-up redesign of its biggest SUVs. Based on these spy shots, the Expedition will continue to serve as the Navigator's more affordable twin. Yes, that's a bold prediction, considering we still haven't spotted Lincoln testing the new Navigator, but study the greenhouses on this Expedition prototype and the Navigator Concept from New York – from the arrow-straight belt line to the extra-long rear window to the aggressively raked windshield, this Expedition's overall profile is broadly similar to what Lincoln previewed earlier this year. While our spies claim the new Expedition will look to the F-150 for design inspiration, we see a departure from past Expedition tradition. Unlike the supposed Expedition spy shots we showed you nearly a year ago – which was nothing more than an SUV with an F-150's nose grafted on, this prototype's front-end styling looks softer and more aerodynamic, with a smaller grille and headlights, almost like an Escape or Edge. This kind of change would explain the additional front-end camouflage. In back, our spies rightly point out that Ford fitted a faux rear end to disguise the rear window's rake – expect the real thing to feature the angled rear window previewed on the Navigator Concept. Look at the last image in the gallery for a better idea of how the Expedition's rear window will actually look. We can't say a lot about the taillights, because of the camo, but non-LED taillights are present. We'd expect Ford to offer LEDs on higher trim levels. While the F-150's styling might not make the transition to the Expedition, its powertrains and emphasis on lightweight aluminum will. Our spies report the biggest SUV will ride on a new T3 platform and feature an aluminum body, with the F-150's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Expect a ten-speed automatic transmission and start/stop tech for sure, while the smaller 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 could slot in as the Expedition's base engine – we're less sure on that one. And we're even more uncertain of the rumors of an Expedition Hybrid. Our spies report it could mate a 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor(s) and battery packs for a more economical full-size SUV. Expect to see the 2018 Expedition debut in January, at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

Ford Green Zone works magic with GPS to make your drive smarter, cleaner

Fri, Aug 29 2014

For the most part, plug-in hybrids rely on the power stored in the battery until that charge is depleted. Unless the switch can be changed manually, it's only then that the cars fire up the internal combustion engine and begin using the fossil fuels on board. This is ideal, of course, when one's drive isn't long enough that the car needs to start sipping gasoline at all. On longer commutes, when it's certain that the route is longer than the car's all-electric range, this isn't necessarily the most efficient use of energy. Ford's Green Zone system is designed to save some of that juice for the parts of the drive that require slower speeds. Ford is working on a smart system, based on Nokia mapping technology, that uses GPS data to use both the electricity and conventional fuel more efficiently. Since battery power is less efficient at highway speeds, Ford's Green Zone system is designed to save some of that juice for the parts of the drive that require slower speeds, rather than just using up all the electrons right at the beginning of the drive. Using a website or the in-car navigation system, the driver can pinpoint the parts of the route, highlighted in green, where using battery power would be more effective, and set the car to automatically switch to electricity for those sections. Depending on the route, the car could automatically switch back and forth between the two power sources multiple times, particularly if the drive is a mix between city and highway driving. Of course, Green Zone will be go beyond that. The program is being developed to take traffic and road grade into account, details that allow the car to be make even smarter choices to improve efficiency. Ford even hopes to have Green Zone learn driver habits, and respond accordingly depending on who is driving the car. The system could control other features as well, such as anticipating corners and shifting the headlights to better illuminate the road ahead. Green Zone could also potentially use information from vehicle-to-vehicle networking to control functions in the car. The Green Zone system still has a few years before it will be ready to be put into production vehicles, but Ford is confident it will make its way onto the road eventually. As with other innovations that improve efficiency and make our vehicles smarter, we can expect to see similar technology from other manufacturers, until it becomes a regular part of driving in the future.
