1979 Ford Ranchero Gt Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.8l on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
Due to the fact the Gov says I owe more tax's over what I already paid them dogs, I must sell one of my beloved classics. This was and can be a daily driver while you finish it. It has the two barrel Windsor motor backed by the FMX tran's. It has four cooper cobra 14" tires (fronts are brand new) on magnum 500 rally wheels. The front has brand new brake calipers, hose's, pads and master cylinder. Has a brand new high pressure A/C hose but needs recharged. Although it is an authentic GT model, it did not come equipped with tilt wheel, power windows, cruise control or power seats. It does have the factory bucket seats with the swing down arm rest. There is no rust through any where. When I purchased it, it had an engine fire (from carb) so it has a lot of (new) engine components replaced but still needs some vacuum hose's installed. Everything works the way it's supposed to. The right corner of the front bumper, left side of tailgate and center of hood (from fire) have surface rust. I do believe that about covers it but feel free to ask questions.
Thanks for looking

Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.

Shelby GT500 laps N"urburgring in under 7:40?
Wed, 30 Oct 2013A couple of weeks ago we brought you footage and official times of the new Chevy Camaro Z/28 lapping the Nürburgring. With a 7:37.47 lap time, the Z/28 emerged as the fastest muscle car ever to lap the circuit. But what was missing from that picture was how fast the king of all Mustangs, the Shelby GT500, could manage to lap the Nordschleife.
Ford never released any information or footage of the GT500 on the Nürburgring that we were aware of - that is, until the guys at SVTPerformance.com put in a request for Mustang videos. Among the clips they received was never-seen, in-car footage of the Shelby GT500 lapping the circuit. And boy did it hustle.
Although not quite official, the video seems to show the GT500 lapped the venerated German track in a touch under 7:40. That would make it a tick or two faster than the Camaro ZL1 - but what of the Z/28? By Chevy's quoted time, the Z/28 is still faster than the GT500, but SVTPerformance suggests GM may have fudged the numbers a bit and scrubbed half a second or so off their lap time.
