1976 Ford Ranchero Gt Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.8l on 2040-cars

I have a 1976 Ranchero GT that I picked up in Angier, NC back in January. It's a 5 digit odometer that reads about 2,800 miles, so we are looking at 102,800 miles. I have done a good bit of work including rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the grille, replacing side marker lights, new door seals (have but not added), new Edelbrock Air Filter, new alternator, new aluminum 3 core radiator, and brand new tires. There have been some other things as well but this gives you a good idea of what's been done. It was a single owner and had set for 13 years before I got it (it was sold to a dealer so officially 2 owners before me). I have gotten it running and enjoyed my time with it but figure I would get something for the family to enjoy instead.

It has a 351m under the hood which is in great shape but my plans were to rebuild a c9ve 429 that is seized I had picked up. I also have a set of bare C9ve 460 heads. It came with air conditioning but that wasn't working and I had no plans to use it so it was removed and placed in a box to clean up the looks under the hood. (The mechanic removed it so it could be easily reinstalled.) the transmission is an fmx transmission but I also have a c9 that I had planned on rebuilding to put in with the 429. The extra engine and transmission is included as well.

There are some rust issues at various spots around vehicle and you can tell the front end had some damage at some point. I have included a few pics of some of the problems. I also have the tailgate although I removed it because it was the worst part of the rust. You can see the work that was done to the bed, this was the worst of the areas and what I did was just a temporary fix. There are some holes and a ton of pitting. Feel free to text or email me any questions you may have as this isn't a very common vehicle for this area. If you have specific questions about what I have in to this as well that's fine too.

There are several things that I know need to be done but by no means is this list all encompassing. It needs a few center caps, I have 2 glove box doors but cannot find the keys and therefore cannot get them installed. I do not know the shape of the pans but will say they feel soft (my next step was going to be stripping the interior), there is rust in various spots, the original philco is just producing static. Like was said this list is not comprehensive but gives you an idea of some of the work to be done.

The buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle and all the extras. I recommend you coming and looking at the vehicle in person if you are interested. I will be more than happy to answer all questions and send any pics that are needed. I will not try to hide anything.

*I have added some more pictures including a new one of under the hood. One of the pics show the damage to the bottom of where the radiator sits. I also believe the nose of the car was replaced at some point in time but am not positive about that. If anyone needs any other pics feel free to ask, I couldn't get a great one of underneath the car. I would definitely call this a running project.

*I am answering questions as fast as I can and have uploaded additional pictures people have asked for.

Ford reveals Fiesta ST race car, points at road ahead for bigger things in Global RallyCross

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST doesn't go on sale until this summer, but fans of Global RallyCross will be able to catch the car in action before then. Announced ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, the Fiesta ST will be the car run by Ford GRC teams this season, and the model on display in Chicago will be the racecar built by Swedish tuner OlsbergsMSE driven by Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. Ken Block and his newly renamed Hoonigan Racing Division will also be competing in the Fiesta ST.
The 2013 GRC season has not been announced yet, but the venues will also include the summer X Games events in Brazil, Spain, Germany and, of course, Los Angeles. Ford announced that it will be the sole automotive sponsor of this year's summer X Games, and it will be looking to bring home a gold medal this year after Block placed silver last year.
In other Ken Block- and Ford-related news, another Chicago debut will be a tuned Focus ST called the TrackSTer project. Built in cooperation with Block, Ford and automotive tuner fifteen52, the TrackSTer will get plenty of styling, performance and handling upgrades. Some of the add-ons include a performance exhaust and short-throw shifter from Ford Racing, a rebuilt engine, upgraded components such as the limited-slip differential, intercooler, engine controller and clutch as well as upgraded brakes.

Ford opens the doors on its Swedish rally skunkworks

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

It's always amazing to see how different kinds of racecars are made. Formula One racers are often constructed in modern architectural marvels that hint at some of the cutting-edge technology going into the racing. Conversely, rallying is all about sliding around on a varied course as fast as possible, but it often leaves a vehicle caked in mud. So it makes some sense Olsbergs MSE, or simply (OMSE) rally car shop in Nynashamn, Sweden, shows technological sophistication in a more down-to-earth setting. It builds Ford Fiesta ST racers for Global Rallycross there, and this new video gives viewers a tour through the work.
Former rally driver Andreas Eriksson runs OMSE. These days instead of racing, he and the company's 46 employees are building Ford racers from scratch. A ton of work goes into constructing each one, and according to Eriksson, it takes 400 hours to complete each body. At times, things are so busy that some of the technicians live in the shop in apartments that are on premises. There's even a restaurant to keep them fed. Sadly the dyno room is empty during this visit, though.
By the time OMSE is done, a rallycross car might resemble a Fiesta ST on the outside, but as you see in the video, it's a completely different beast underneath. Check out the work it takes to build one of them, and scroll down to read more about it in the official release.

Ford Focus RS will go global, come to US

Thu, Dec 11 2014

"We are transforming our approach to performance." – Mark Fields Ford will launch a new high-performance Focus RS around the world, including the United States, company CEO Mark Fields confirmed at a press conference Thursday morning. It is expected to debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show, though launch timing is unclear. "We are transforming our approach to performance," Fields said. The RS will serve as a hotter variant of the Focus, which will be redesigned next year as part of Ford's 16 product launches. Our spy photographers have already captured images of a purported RS, which you can see above. Ford last sold a Focus RS in Europe in 2009, and it continues the long lineage of RS-badged performance cars, which dates to 1968. "The RS has a significant heritage and pedigree," Ford product chief Raj Nair said. The Focus RS will slot above the Focus ST, which will continue, a spokesman said. The ST runs a turbocharged, 252-horsepower four-cylinder that's paired with a six-speed manual transmission. It also has chassis and design upgrades to reinforce its athletic dynamics. The most recent intel suggests that the new RS could use Ford's 2.3-liter turbo-four, tuned to anywhere from 325 to 350 hp. All-wheel drive is also rumored to be part of the new RS formula. Meanwhile, Ford announced it is putting all of its sporty units under the umbrella name of "Ford Performance," which will be led by Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Ford Performance will include Ford Racing, SVT (which is responsible for the Raptor and Shelby GT350) and RS. "We're changing Ford's performance business," Nair said. Ford is placing a renewed emphasis on performance, as the customers tend to be younger, wealthier and better educated, Nair said. In other news, Nair said the company is working on a Raptor version of the new, aluminum-bodied F-150, which launched this year. "I want to get it out as quickly as we can," he said.
