1971 Ford Ranchero Squire 5.0l on 2040-cars
Clearlake, California, United States
I have for sale a Rare 1971 Ford Ranchero "Squire" with the wood grain decals along the bottom on the rockers and on the gate, not like the traditional Squire has across the sides of the car.
This car came from Northern California and remains in the same town that it has been in since New. I am the third owner of the car. An elderly man bought the car new locally and when he couldn't drive any longer he sold it to one of his neighbors that did some work on it like put a new t5 Mustang 5 speed transmission and new clutch, he then died and his wife sold it. Transmission works great and has no issues. The engine is a numbers matching 302 ci small block V8 that was an original 2bbl and I have now up graded it to a Edelbrock intake and Carb. along with aluminum Edelbrock valave covers. I have also recently replaced the points and condensor. runs good. The car has stock exhaust and is very quite. The body is very straight and has only surface rust, as the second owner decided to strip part of the paint with paint stripper and then passed away before he do much more with it, I would have done something with it but I think it has great Patina. The only rust through was in the rear floor area that has all been cut out and welded in with the correct gauge sheet metal. No other Rot is apparent. The rolling stock consists of a set of Mustang 17" Bullet wheels with decent tires. Along with wheel spacers and longer studs to accomodate the wheel spacers. The interior has a new black carpet kit and leather bucket seats the driver is power but I have yet to hook it up permanently but works fine. Has original seat belts. The dash had cracks so it has a cover on it. On the back there is a rare piece for this car and that's the camper shell or topper, I have the side windows for it but no rear hatch. it is in fine shape otherwise. The car holds a clean California title and is registered with its original blue and yellow plates till Oct 2014. I have all of the original parts for this gem like the original seat, carb/intake set up and air cleaner I do not have the original transmission. Buyer is responsible for local pick up and/ or setting up shipping arrangements. I expect a $1000.00 non refundable deposit within 24hrs of close of Auction. This is your chance to buy a solid California Ranchero that they only made this style two years. Good Luck. |

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.
Ken Block ain't got a care about ruining his wheels
Tue, 22 Jan 2013During a drifting session at Irwindale Speedway in California, Ken Block made a boo-boo that would send a number of drivers immediately back to the infield. But there's an answer to "What do you do when you bash the wall while drifting and your wheel explodes?" and there's completely different answer when the question begins with the phrase, "When you're Ken Block..."
Instead of us telling you how Block handled the calamity in his Ford Fiesta competition car, you can watch it happen in the video below. You can probably also guess what it is - but it's more fun to watch.
2015 Ford Mustang Convertible makes inappropriate appearance in Detroit [w/video]
Tue, 14 Jan 2014With the polar vortex fresh in the minds of Autoblog's Detroit-based staff, we're finding it funny that any manufacturer would choose January in the Motor City to show off a new and highly anticipated convertible to the general media and public for the first time. But Ford has done just that, giving us our first real peek at the new Mustang Convertible in the flesh.
The new Mustang Convertible is more or less unchanged from the standard coupe, with some subtle styling tweaks to accommodate the retractable soft top. Engine and transmission choices are identical to the hardtop, although we should expect slightly lower performance due to the hardware for the roof. Like the coupe, neither prices nor performance metrics have been published yet for the convertible.
