You are bidding on a 1971 Ford Ranchero 500 which came from the factory finished in Ford's best color, Calypso Coral.  It has been repainted once over the original paint in a slightly brighter shade of red which still shines and looks very nice.  In my opinion 1970 and 1971 were the pinnacle years for Ranchero and it's cousin, the Torino.

Here are some specific details:

-Factory H-code V8 car
-Rebuilt 1968 Torino GT 302 4v high compression performance engine featuring mild cam, 4v high-rise intake, Edelbrock carb, and headers; approximately 12K miles on rebuild
-Rebuilt 9" 3.50:1 Traction Lock rear end approximately 12K miles ago
-C4 automatic transmission and floor shifter
-Dual exhaust
-Power steering and power brakes
-Bench seat interior with black upholstery, door panels, and new carpet kit installed
-Chrome trim, stainless steel trim, and glass are all in good driver-quality condition
-New chrome Magnum 500 wheels with excellent Grand Am radial tires
-Power steering and power brakes with front discs
-GT hood
-Dual outside chrome racing mirrors
-Hideaway headlamp grill *(missing headlamp doors and mechanism; car ships with a nice standard grill as well)

The Ranchero runs very strong and drives out well.  While not perfect, it's reliable enough to get in and drive across the country.

The paint is what I'd call a 15-20 footer; looks good, shines well, but demonstrates some cracks, blemishes, and other age issues on close examination.  Still shines like mad in the sun and gets lots of attention!

The body is very straight overall, with only minor evidence of rust beginning to show in the rear wheel well area.

I've priced the car fairly so someone can enjoy a cool, reliable, and good-looking classic without breaking the bank.  While every effort is being made to describe the car accurately, please keep in mind that it is a 42-year-old vehicle, and being sold as-is, without warranty expressed or implied.

Please feel free to call me with any specific questions you may have at 360-936-9257.

Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer, however, I will make myself available to your shipper for pickup and loading.  Payment is to be made within 3 days of auction end by certified major bank cashier's check, bank wire transfer, or cash.  Zero-feedback bidders, please contact me prior to bidding to let me know you're a real buyer with good intentions.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Ford reflects on radical Mustang concept that never reached showrooms

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

The Ford Mustang that we all know and love made major waves in the auto industry way back in 1964 by offering style and reasonable pricing with optional V8 power. Its long hood and short rear deck, combined with a low-slung and sporty cockpit, made a lasting impression in the minds of consumers and car designers alike, and its basic shape has so endured the test of time that it's still in use today.
This being the case, you may be interested to know that the first Mustang of 1964.5 wasn't actually the first Mustang at all, being preceded by a concept car that made its public debut in 1962. This concept was nothing like the car that would eventually make it into production, with a radical wedge shape and a small V4 engine sitting behind the car's two occupants, driving the rear wheels. In other words, the conceptual Mustang was pretty much the complete opposite of the production Mustang besides the name.
Ford has kindly decided go through its massive archive to bring the original Mustang concept back into the public eye. The company goes so far as to pose this question to fans of the pony car: "Should we borrow a few of these style elements for the next iteration of the Mustang?" Check out our image gallery above and then let 'em know what you think in the Comments below.

Ford going bonkers at SEMA with 57 showcars

Sat, 19 Oct 2013

Ford always shows up in force at the SEMA Show, but this year's tally of 57 custom-tuned cars, trucks and vans is more than we can ever recall the Blue Oval bringing. Ford will introduce 28 of its project vehicles in its "Dreamcase" ahead of next month's show. The first batch of eight you'll find here with the remaining vehicles trickling into public view over the next couple of weeks.
This first group of cars includes a Fiesta, four Fiesta ST hatchbacks and a trio of Mustang show cars styled and tuned to varying degrees all by different aftermarket companies. Tanner Foust, Nitto Tire, 3dCarbon and Ice Nine Group are some of the more familiar names affixed to these cars. Our favorite so far is the Hollywood Hot Rods Mustang convertible (shown above) with its removable aluminum top and methanol-injected, 750-horsepower 5.0-liter V8.
Scroll down for all the details on these Fiestas and Mustangs, and stay tuned for more info on Ford's SEMA line, which will include custom versions of the Focus ST, Fusion, Transit Connect, F-150 and Super Duty.
