1970 Ranchero Gt N Code 429 Buckets Console Tach Hideaways Rimblow Laser Stripes on 2040-cars
Snohomish, Washington, United States
Link to video for phone users: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=l-FYx5j7mQk Here is a rare 1970 Ranchero GT with a factory N code 429. One of 296 N code Ranchero GT's. Originally White with dark red interior. Not only is a factory 429 but it is loaded with rare factory options including: C6 automatic, 3.25 31 spline axle with Nodular case, power steering, power disc brakes, bucket seats, console, in dash tach, hidden headlights, heavy duty suspension, dual racing mirrors and rimblow steering wheel. All these options are verified by the Marti report. The laser stripes are not listed on the Marti but obviously they are correct and look fantastic. The Magnum 500’s are also not original but period correct. This Ranchero was owned by the same gentleman from 1975 until 2013. It was sold new in Everett, WA and spent its whole life within 15 miles of that dealer. It was repainted about 7 years ago in the correct white and has been driven sparingly since then. Paint is good driver quality and the car is straight with no dents or visual rust. Since it has not been driven there is really no chips or scratches to speak of. The paint in the bed was just a quickie spray since the previous owner was going to rhino line it but fortunately never got around to it. Hideaway grill is in nice condition. Chrome is decent but is original and not perfect. There are a couple small dings in the rear bumper. Glass is good. Laser stripes look very nice, however there is some fading on the tailgate stripe. It had lower quarters replaced when it was repainted but it looks like they did a pretty decent job. There is some bodywork showing in front of the left rear wheel down low. Not too noticeable unless you look close. Underside looks decent, it does have some rust on the floors on the driver's side. Some small holes in the driver's front floor and rear floor that look like they have been filled with something from above. There is a hole in the compartment under the bed on the driver's side that is accessible from the back of the cab, maybe the size of a baseball. Frame rails all look good.. Magnums look like new, rear tires are 245/60r15 and look like new, front tires are 235/60r15 look pretty good. The interior is original and needs to be restored. The upholstery is torn, dash is cracked and carpet is worn. Headliner is pretty good but is shrinking and pulling from the back window. Console is in pretty good shape. The non #’s matching 429 was rebuilt and has less than 5k miles, as was the C6 transmission. Motor runs great and trans works well. Has new Holley carb. It has headers and exhaust that exits in front of rear wheels .It’s a bit load and personally I would run exhaust all the way out the back. Original 3.25 nodular case 31 spline rearend is present and works well. Lights, tach, wipers, heater etc all work. Steering has quite a bit of play and I would recommend a steering box before driving it any distance. Hideaways would not stay down when car was shut off so I unhooked the spring (spring still there, you can reconnect it if you want), now the lights won't open. I think it needs a switch and I have included another one. Brakes work well. Other than the steering box this is ready to go. This is a very rare Ranchero and one that has had much of the expensive work already done. You can rebuild the steering box and drive and enjoy it as is or restore the interior and some other minor work and bring this to the next level. Either way you have a great looking, factory big block car for a fraction of the cost of most big block muscle cars. In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose my reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Car is sold as is where is. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that it is 40+ years old and still needs some restoration work done. It is available for inspection by appointment. International buyers welcome. Any bidder with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me before bidding or bid will be cancelled. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Car must be paid for in full within 5 days of auction end (no paypal.) Car must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. |

2015 Ford Mustang invades SEMA, led by King Cobra
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Ford showcased more than a dozen customized 2015 Mustangs at its sprawling 20,000-square foot display this week at the Las Vegas Convention Center as the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary celebration continued at the SEMA Show.
While Mustangs are always a hot commodity at SEMA, the new generation brought increased attention from the aftermarket, as builders like Galpin Auto Sports, Richard Petty's Garage and Vaughn Gittin Jr. offered their takes on the new 'Stang.
The extensive display included a range of Mustangs from mild to wild, with everything from a 600-plus horsepower King Cobra pictured at the top, to paint-and-wheel packages. The new regal Cobra, which we spied early in our SEMA adventure this year, may not be the replacement for the Cobra Jet as we speculated, but it does seem to point the way forward for the next iteration of a supreme Ford dragster. Fat drag slicks out back make it's reason for being abundantly clear, and for tells us that modded car is good for a 10.97-second quarter-mile run.
Ford Escort Concept goes back to basics
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Here's the thing about China: The folks buying cars there have a very different set of standards than shoppers in many other markets around the globe. While we all drool over hot metal with bold designs, and while we appreciate automakers going an extra step to inject even their cheapest offerings with aggressive and interesting cues, that sort of sheetmetal sex appeal doesn't always sell in the People's Republic. Case in point is Jaguar, which may be designing a more traditional-looking version of its XJ for the Chinese market, or more to the point of this story, Ford currently sells the less-exciting, last-generation Focus compact in China right alongside the new one.
So consider this new Shanghai-bound C-segment concept a preview of what's to come for that more traditional, budget-minded, less-sexy market. More proof of this pudding: Ford's even calling this concept the Escort - a nod to the Blue Oval's compact car days of yore, and a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design. "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious," Ford states. And this new Escort concept previews a possibility of providing exactly that for this rapidly expanding automotive market.
What you're looking at, then, is one of the most simple Ford designs we've seen of late, though it still incorporates all of the automaker's latest DNA. The signature hexagonal grille is front and center, flanked by attractive LED headlamps and chrome-rimmed foglamp housings. The entire car's design focuses on clean, smooth surfaces, with one strong character line flowing from front to back just below the beltline. We will say that the car looks decidedly more premium from the rear view, where narrow, horizontal taillamps with an LED accent give the car added visual width. Bland as it may be, it's a handsome little concept, though fear what would likely happen if all of the conceptual details get dumbed down for a production model.
Ford says utility vehicles are key to global growth
Tue, 26 Nov 2013While most of us believe that small, fuel efficient cars are the key to global expansion for US automakers, Jim Farley, Ford's vice president of Global Marketing, thinks otherwise. Last week, we attended an exclusive sneak preview of the Ford Edge Concept in advance of the Los Angeles Auto Show, and Farley told us that it's actually utility vehicles that will help the Blue Oval gain market share overseas. "There is no other segment in our industry that is growing like utilities," he said. "We expect over the next five years this full family of [utility] vehicles to really drive our growth as a company."
And Farley has the numbers to back it up, too. Ford projects overall automotive sales to grow 23 percent from 2012 to 2017, but the company's utility vehicles are expected to boom by an impressive 41 percent during that same period. Much of that growth will be in China, where Ford estimates its utility sales will explode. "The biggest opportunity for us globally for utilities is in China," Farley said. "China utility growth is expected to more than double from where it is today to 2017, which isn't that far away." Most astounding is that Ford projects its own utility sales in China will eventually increase by more than 2,000 percent when smaller crossovers, such as the EcoSport and Kuga (sold as the Escape in North America), and the Edge and Explorer, are factored in.
Ford's VP also expects utilities to lead the way in the struggling European market. "With all the difficulties of the European market, there is one segment that has actually expanded in volume over the last several years even though the market is way down, and that's utilities," Farley told us. Ford estimates that their utility sales will grow 65 percent in Europe from 2012-2017. "The utility segment is projected to grow we think about thirty percent between now and 2017 in Europe, and we think we are going to grow twice that rate as a brand," Farley continued.
