Selling a 1969 Ranchero in excellent condition, original low mile car with no rust (California - So. Nevada). This is an uncut original with very low miles and it shows.
Exterior; has had recent repaint, some paint missing on hood near molding (see pic), small scratch on front fender(see pic), right hood scoop turn signal light does not illuminate however turn signal device works properly at all other locations, period correct wheels with nearly new back tires and brand new front tires, chrome is in good to excellent condition, body is straight, bed has mat covering a near perfect floor. This car/truck looks great up close or far away. Interior; upholstery, door panels, headliner in excellent condition, dash pad has no cracks, carpet is in very good condition with mats, includes two additional kick panel as passenger one has a crack in it. CD/AM/FM/Sirius ready head unit installed in glove box with remote, two box speakers behind seat. There are NO modifications to this dash, no cuts in the metal, looks as it did 45 years ago, both windows work well, heater, fan, lights, turn signals, brake lights, hazards all work. Factory radio still in dash (unknown condition as it is bypassed for aftermarket one in glove box). Drive Train; Starts up on the first try every time, runs very smooth, trans shifts normally, the 302-2 bl accelerates the car/truck well, tracks perfectly, stops perfectly (no pulling). Has Cherry Bomb dual exhaust so it sounds great, some what period correct sound. Electric Fuel pump added by previous owner (never told why) with factory mechanical still plumbed in place. There is a minor oil leak at back of motor, about a drop every few days, the trans has no leaks, the differential has no leaks. Mechanical; Since February of this year, I have replaced or had replaced the following items: New front brakes rotors New front brake pads Front end alignment (front end is tight) New front shocks New sway bar bushings polyurethane (new in box, not yet installed, see pic) New sway bar end links, polyurethane (new in box, not yet installed, see pic) All three high pressure power steering hoses replaced with new Rear transmission seal replaced Both real axle shaft seals and bearings replaced New brake shoes in rear, drums turned New rear sensa-trac shocks (new in box, not yet installed, see pic) New front tires I purchased this Ranchero as I wanted a rig to replace my truck, but one with style and class . This one has all that and more, but its in too good of a condition for me to use it as a truck, I don't want to scratch it or get it dinged in a parking lot. Its fun to cruise, gets lot of attention/conversation wherever I go. The Ranchero just doesn't get used or driven enough by me, again because of its condition, plus I have a Cougar that I prefer to cruise around in. No Warranty either expressed or implied, Ranchero is sold as is. Buyer responsible for all shipping cost. I will help get it to a shippers dock location if its within a reasonable distance from my location. |

FBI investigating recently fired Ford engineer for espionage
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Agents of the FBI are investigating a potential case of industrial espionage involving a recently fired Ford employee. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer had its world headquarters searched by FBI agents on July 11, and according to The Detroit News, had warrants to seize recording devices handed over to Ford by Sharon Leach, a now-former Ford engineer.
Leach, who had spent 17 years with the Blue Oval, was fired last month, after Ford Security relieved her of eight Sansa listening devices. The FBI got involved shortly after her dismissal, searching her home on June 20 and seizing some two dozen items, including computers, jump drives and financial records, according to warrants obtained by The News.
Ford has remained quiet on the matter, with spokeswoman Susan Krusel confirming that the automaker was working with the FBI as part of a "joint investigation," while declining to provide any additional details.
Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
Ford rolls out diesel Focus ST at Goodwood [w/poll]
Sun, 29 Jun 2014If you're in the market for a hot hatch, there are some excellent choices at your disposal - especially if you live in Europe. But if you want a diesel, well, your choices become rather more limited. Volkswagen tends to that niche market with the Golf GTD (essentially an oil-burning version of the GTI available Stateside), but that's about the extent of it. The pleas of those looking for more diesel-burning hot hatch choices haven't fallen on deaf ears at Ford, with the Blue Oval not only rolling out a facelifted gas-powered Focus ST at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, but also a new diesel version as well.
The diesel Focus ST (which we hope and pray isn't marketed as the STD) packs a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four producing 182 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque to propel the oil-burning hot hatch to 62 in 8.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 135 miles per hour. With less power and only slightly more torque, that makes the diesel Focus ST considerably slower than the gasoline one, which packs 252 hp and 270 lb-ft, runs to 62 in 6.5 seconds and tops out at 154 mph, but (in a testament to how far particulate filters have come) the diesel model cuts carbon emissions by nearly a third compared to the petrol version and returns about 50-percent better fuel economy, which makes that much more of a difference in markets where diesel is already priced better than gasoline at the pump.
For buyers who wouldn't consider anything other than a diesel, it also represents 23-percent more power than the previous top-level diesel Focus. The VW Golf GTD, for reference, offers up 181 hp (just 1 horse less), 280 lb-ft (15 fewer torques) but is somehow estimated to reach 60 in a considerably fleeter 7.4 seconds.
