2011 Ford Shelby Gt 500, Svt. Many Custom Extras! on 2040-cars
Phoenix, Arizona, United States
I am selling my awesome 2011 Ford shelby GT 500. I am the second owner and the car was originally puchased by a retired Ford executive to be part of his extensive auto collection. I was fortunate to come across this car in Texas as he had just traded it for a limited addition racing Ducati. This car has all the right extras. "Kooks" racing headers and exhaust tuned to Flowmaster mufflers, pulley upgrade on supercharger, H&L aircleaner, custom tuned by Mustang performance specialists producing 620HP!! Car sounds and drives perfect. I have added the much better Lloyd driver, passenger and trunk mats with custom stitched "Shelby GT 500" with Cobra snake logo. I have also added the custom made 3 piece Duior wheels with "Michelin, Pilot Super Sport Tires" of which have less than a thousand miles on them. This awesome car also comes with the original wheels and tires and mats. Also comes with custom smoked side marker lights and rear tail lights.
The car has also been polyresin coated to protect the paint and has a new custom clear bra to protect the paint also. I have also added the custom billet fuel door to give the car a more custom look and have the original aswell that will go with the new owner. Windows have been recently custom tinted with top of the line metalized tint. Car also comes with genuine Carol Shelby indoor dust cover and carry bag. Car as no dings, dents or scratches and I have never let it see rain. With the SVT package and the stripe delete factory option and glass roof (with inside pull shade) this car is beautiful and of course Very FAST!!. It has never been raced, tracked or abused in any way and I have mostly taken it to car shows just for fun. Adding up all the well placed additions to this car come to over $10K!! of which I have many receipts. Try getting that from a dealer. The car has some warranty left from the factory. Please contact me with any questions and I am happy to email additional pictures upon request. I am not a dealer so be rest assured this car has been babied. My wife will be sure to tell you that. Happy bidding and good luck!

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams
Sun, 11 Aug 2013As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.
Xcar celebrates 100-year anniversary with Model T tribute
Fri, Jan 9 2015Never mind the fact that XCar hasn't been making videos for the last 100 years, the British duo have gone all silent-moving-pictures in order to make their centenary case for the Ford Model T, a car that was already seven years old in 1915. It's not a review, but a mostly sepia-tinged look at the car that started the mass-market adventure by taking that biblical advice to be fruitful and multiply and populate the Earth abundantly. Since it looks like Xcar is celebrating some kind of milestone, we've also included another video below of the first Xcar review we could find, covering the BMW M1, from the much more recent past - circa 2012.
Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.
