1928 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup  Rod

I’m selling this for a friend who doesn’t do E-bay.   He recently purchased it and his wife said it has to go.

This is a very professional build.  There is no plastic, fiberglass or wood used in the build.  It is all steel.

This has been built to look like a 1950’s build -  Old School but with some up grades.

The convertible top can be easily removed, left folded down, or fits into a zippered boot (I didn’t take any pictures of it rolled up in the boot).  The side curtains can be stored behind the seat.

With the top up it does a pretty good job of keeping the weather out and there is a heater to keep you warm. There is no AC - you have to have the top down to keep cool.

The lights and gauges all work properly.  It has turn signals and several brake lights.

The engine is a 400 Chevy and it sounds like it may have a mild cam.  It runs excellent and has good oil pressure.   The transmission is a Power glide F0T06GF.  There are no oil leaks except for a drip or two out of the oil pan drain plug which can be easily fixed with a new gasket when the oil is changed.

I drove this up and down the road several times and the auto transmission shifts smoothly and the car brakes and stops like a newer car.

There are no power accessories.  It has manual brakes and steering.  It brakes easily but the steering takes a little effort when you are not moving.  When your moving you can’t tell it doesn’t have power assist.

There have been very few miles put on this since it was finished and I believe it was built just a couple of years ago.  My friend who originally purchased it has only put about a hundred miles on it.

I have all the original build information so there will be no problem trying to identify any of the parts that were used and there is also a photo album showing the build.

The interior and convertible top are in like new condition.  I can find nothing wrong with the car.  The only things I could find that need improvement would be the drain plug on the pan and the windshield could use a seal on the bottom where it closes against the body as there is air leakage there when driving, only a problem if its cold out.

It has passed the Texas safety inspection and has a clear Texas title.

I can take more pictures if wanted and can probably answer most any questions about it.  E-mail for my Phone number.

Here is a link to a YouTube video of it starting and driving:

Detroit and Silicon Valley: When cultures collide

Fri, May 26 2017

Culture is a subject that rarely, if never, gets discussed when traditional auto companies buy — or hugely invest — in Silicon Valley-based companies. The conversation surrounding the investments is usually about how the tech looks appealing and how it's an appropriate step to move the automakers toward autonomy. Culture — the way things are done, the expectations, and the approaches — is something that is overlooked only at one's peril. The potential cultural gap is almost always evident in the obligatory photos of the participants in these deals, with is essentially a photo op of auto execs with their Silicon Valley counterparts. The former — rocking jeans and no ties — look like parochial school kids playing hooky. Don't worry: The regimental outfits will be back in place once they get back in the Eastern time zone. Consider what happened back in 1998 when Daimler bought Chrysler. First of all, there was a denial in Detroit that it happened. It was positioned as a "merger of equals." Which it wasn't. In any corporate situation, when one has more than 50 percent of the business, it owns the whole thing. And the German company was in the proverbial driver's seat. People who were around Auburn Hills back then kept their heads down and their German Made Simple books at hand. Things did not go well. Daimler had had enough by 2007, when it offloaded Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management — which brought ex-Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli into the picture, which is a story onto itself. But when you think about the Daimler-Chrysler situation, realize that these were two car companies (at least the Mercedes part of the Daimler organization), so they had that in common, and the language of engineers is something of an Esperanto based on math, so there was that, too. Yet it simply didn't work. It doesn't take too many viewings of HBO's Silicon Valley to know that the business people in that part of the world are far more aggressive than people who ordinarily head and control car companies in Detroit. About 20 years ago, a book came out about the founder of Oracle titled The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison* - and the asterisk on the book jacket leads to: God Doesn't Think He's Larry Ellison. It would be hard to imagine a book about a Detroit executive, even a book that had the decided bias that the tome about Ellison evinces, that would be quite so searing. Sure, there are egos. But they are still perceived to be, overall, "nice" people.

Ford readying three-row Edge for China

Fri, Nov 21 2014

The next-generation Ford Edge will be available with quite a growth spurt for its debut in China next year, with newly announced plans also to build and sell a three-row version exclusively in the People's Republic. However, markets outside of there likely won't see the larger model. Ford marketing boss (and future head of Ford of Europe) Jim Farley announced the three-row version of the crossover at the Los Angeles Auto Show, according to Automotive News. To create the extra room, Ford made the Chinese-built variant about 16 inches longer than its two-row counterpart. Farley didn't specify at which of the Blue Oval's plants in the country this model would be assembled. The Explorer and forthcoming Everest already offer three rows from the Ford lineup in China, but the company thinks the market can easily support all of them. According to Farley to Automotive News, the utility segment is up 485 percent in the country since 2008. Customers in the US can still look forward to the two-row Edge hitting dealers early next year. It'll be the first model in the Blue Oval's lineup here to come standard with EcoBoost power.

Ford mulling EcoSport for US? [w/poll]

Mon, 03 Jun 2013

"We certainly have that ability. We're studying it very, very closely." Those are the words of Jim Farley, global head of sales, marketing, service at Ford. The investigation Farley is referring to is the possibility of selling the company's new EcoSport crossover in America.
The diminutive Fiesta-based EcoSport was developed for emerging markets like Brazil and, more recently, China, but it apparently may have a future in the States, where it would form a new entry-level rung below the Escape in Ford's already robust crossover stable. Ford has big plans for its tiny CUV - Farley tells Automotive News that the EcoSport is only available in 10 countries right now, but by 2017, its distribution will have mushroomed to 62 countries. At the time the second-generation model launched at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show as a 2013 model, Ford said the EcoSport would eventually be sold in nearly 100 markets worldwide.
The Brazilian- and Indian-assembled EcoSport is available with a variety of gasoline-powered engines, but the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost giving 118 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque would seem to be the powertrain of choice for America, as it was recently confirmed for the stateside 2014 Fiesta.
