You are bidding on a real sharp 1947 1/2 ton Ford truck that has had a frame off restoration. The color is an older Ford color that has some metallic in it, very eye catching. Lots of beautiful chrome! All the bumpers have been rechromed. It has a 239 cubic inch Flathead motor. The short block was done at Motor City Flathead. Bored 20 over, mild cam with aluminum high compression head and aluminum center manifold. A 4 barrel carburator, headers with dual exhaust, new Mallory distributor, pressurized oil system and filter and 5 speed mustang transmission. The only known problems I am aware of are: speedometer is not connected, but as it is the original one it only goes up to 60mph; it has a small chip on the lower front almost behind the bumper about 1-1/2" and a 1/4" scratch on the edge of the tailgate. See the pictures on both of these. It is always garaged and protected from the Michigan weather. It has only been driven for car shows and runs good.
I would encourage anyone seriously interested to look at it prior to the end of the auction. There is no warranty either expressed, written or assumed and the seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs. No allowance or set aside will be made due to any incorrectness, imperfection or defect and is being sold as is but I have described it as accurately as possible. The buyer has the responsibility to inspect the vehicle and make the decision as to the condition and value. Take a look at the pictures and ask any questions prior to bidding. Thank you for looking and good luck in your bidding.

Correction: Most all the chrome has been rechromed except for the bumpers, they did not need to be due to the condition.

Hot sales have Detroit automakers shortening summer shutdowns
Tue, 08 Jul 2014Back in May, there was speculation that the Detroit Three automakers would maintain or perhaps even extend their traditional summer shutdowns, mostly due to a bitingly cold winter that saw below-freezing temperatures infiltrate the southernmost reaches of the US, putting a chill on auto sales. Now, though, the numbers are in, and thanks to some promising sales figures, it looks like some domestic line workers are going to be working clear through July, in some cases.
According to Automotive News, Ford has slashed its traditional two-week hiatus for factory workers in half at four of its plants, while both Chrysler and General Motors will keep factories running nonstop (two plants in Chrysler's case and a third of GM's factories).
This is, as we said, thanks to some positive numbers. Chief among those is the Seasonal Adjusted Annual Rate, which was at an eight-year high of 17 million units. Individual figures were less promising. GM, embroiled in its recall scandal, still saw a one-percent increase while Ford dropped six percent in year-over-year sales. Chrysler was the big winner, though, with a nine-percent jump in June.
Lincoln 'not true luxury' yet, says Ford design chief
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Lincoln is "not true luxury," according to Ford's design boss, J Mays. His statements come from a story in The Detroit News that saw candid language on the issues facing Ford's troubled premium brand. Notably, there's a need for a strong character, with Mays saying, "Every brand needs to have a DNA and a unique selling point and things in the vehicle that make you think, 'That's that particular brand.'"
With a range of rebadged Fords, it's not hard to see why that DNA is missing. Mays hinted that a full recovery for Lincoln will be a ten-year process, that's been kicked off with the MKZ sedan. While that car is still largely a Ford Fusion under its extremely pretty wrapper, it's the first Lincoln in some time to inject its own unique take both through the exterior styling and through interior features, such as the vertical, pushbutton gear selection.
Some analysts weren't so certain about Mays' 10-year estimate. Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics thinks it'll be more like 30 years before Lincoln can show a true return to form. The issue, as Hall explains it, is that, "luxury has a degree of exclusivity," that Lincoln just doesn't have. Michelle Krebs from Edmunds adds, "it's definitely a wanna-be luxury brand," comparing the troubled American brand with Infiniti and Acura, two other brands that have struggled to find their place in the luxury market.
A tribute to William Clay Ford
Tue, 11 Mar 2014The passing of William Clay Ford has been a big event for the company he spent most of his life helping run. Ford spent 57 years working for his family's company. Considering the Blue Oval has been around for over 100 years, WCF's passing is the end of an era for the Dearborn-based manufacturer.
Ford's YouTube channel has issued a short memorial video highlighting the life of the longest-lived grandson of company founder Henry Ford. It follows William Clay from his time as a boy, showing him alongside his grandfather, through his younger years, and into his twilight, as the patriarch of the Ford family.
Take a look below for this touching memorial video on William Clay Ford.
