General Description This is a 1952 Ford F100 field find, turned into a completely updated head-turning reliable cruiser. It's unique patina with custom pin striping sets this truck apart from others. So many new parts! This truck is TURN KEY, ready to cruise today. You may have even seen this one on the cover of Summit's Hot Rod Hardware catalog last year. Clean and clear title in my name. RUST This truck has just the right amount of that patina we all love, without the rot. The body is overall very solid, and needs no sheet metal work. FRAME/DRIVETRAIN This truck sits on the sought after mid 80's s10 frame, and has an awesome slammed stance. It's powered by a completely overhauled Chevy 350, with new speed pro pistons and a mild comp cams street cam. The engine looks, sounds, and runs excellent. It has that awesome old school chop at idle, through a full custom true dual exhaust with Dynomax super turbo mufflers. The engine is dressed up with billet accessories, new valve covers, new "nitro plated" headers, new Edelbrock 1406 electric choke carb, and a HUGE K&N air cleaner (the cherry on top!) It's fed from a new 15 gallon RCI fuel cell by a brand new Holley electric fuel pump and pressure regulator. All new fuel lines have been installed, and a custom "flip top" fuel cap has been placed in the wood bed for easy fill ups. The tank has a brand new level sending unit for accurate fuel readings. The rear end is from a 2001 Chevy Blazer with disc brakes, and has a 3:42 Eaton Posi. TRANSMISSION Freshly rebuilt stage 2 700R4 from Maddog Transmissions in Cummings, Georgia....at $1000, this transmission shifts super crisp every time. The tranny is supported by a G-Force cross member, which allows for the placement of the dual exhaust. It runs extra cool with the new BTE extra deep aluminum trans pan. Fluid change is a breeze with the installed drain plug. It connects to the rear end with a brand new light weight PST driveshaft. STEERING/SUSPENSION/BRAKES/TIRES Everything here has been replaced. The new steering shaft, steering linkage, upper and lower ball joints, front sway bar with polyurethane bushings, and polyurethane upper and lower control arm bushings all contribute to the solid and predictable steering of this truck. It's tight, and right! The front end also features new Crown drop springs with new Bilstein shocks. The rear has de-arched leaf springs with Belltech lowering shocks. This truck has 4 wheel disc power brakes with 4 new calipers and new brake pads all around. All 5 brake lines have been updated to Russell stainless braided lines for a solid pedal feel. I have installed a new brake booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve combo to complete brake system overhaul. All lines have been flushed with DOT 4 synthetic fluid. New 15" smoothie wheels with center caps, and Coker wide white walls have been installed. COOLING SYSTEM Brand new show quality 2 row aluminum radiator, with integrated trans cooler. Trans cooler lines were upgraded to stainless braided lines with AN fittings. I also have 2 10" electric fans on an automatic thermostat switch, and a 15" mechanical fan. This truck stays cool! WIRE HARNESS & ELECTRICAL Wiring is all new, headlights and tail lights work as expected, including high beams. This truck has no turn signals, but could easily be wired up for this. All brand new Autometer Phantom gauges have been installed to display fuel, oil pressure, coolant temp, and battery voltage. INTERIOR I decided to keep the original patina in the interior, and it is dressed up with custom pin striping, custom art work on the glove box door, and a beer tap shifter. The comfortable bench seat is covered in a Mexican blanket to give it a unique look. GLASS The front and rear windshields are brand new with new seals. Both doors still retain the original glass, and the triangle windows actually open and close. The drivers window regulator needs to be replaced, and the glass is currently not installed....but will come with the truck HOW DOES IT RIDE? Brakes have excellent response, engine and transmission are strong and can easily cruise 80 down the road with no problem. This truck rides very smooth, and is easy to take anywhere PLEASE NOTE: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT AVAILABLE TO SHIP UNTIL OCTOBER 12TH. IT IS BEING USED IN A PRIVATE PHOTO SHOOT THE DAY BEFORE. I have a lot of time invested in this one-of-a-kind shop truck. It's a real head turner, and so much fun to drive. Please contact me with any further questions. Serious bidders only please. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, as it is for sale locally. Buyer assumes all shipping arrangements and cost, but I will be happy to assist with loading. $1000 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction end |

Saab-powered Ford is the most unlikely drift car we've seen
Tue, Jan 19 2016Yes, you read that headline correctly. It's supposed to be a Saab-powered Ford, and not the other way around (although we fully support the notion of a Sonnet with a Flathead V8). Apparently, some lunatic in the UK took an ass-less 1953 Ford Anglia, paired it with a turbocharged Saab engine, and tuned the entire thing to go drifting. We like it. Called Urchfab, it's the subject of Carfection's (the blokes formerly known as XCar) latest video. Aside from looking like an extra from the British version of Mad Max, it has a problem with grip, in that there's just too much of it. This car is a fabber's dream, as we get to see its unnamed owner fashion new bits and bobs for the suspension before having an unfortunate encounter with a wall at Castle Combe. You can check out the full video up at the top of the page for a closer look at this monstrous Anglia. Related Video:
For thousands of US auto workers, the downturn is already here
Thu, Jun 22 2017LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Wall Street is fretting that the auto industry is heading for a downturn, but for thousands of workers at General Motors factories in the United States, the hard times are already here. Matt Streb, 36, was one of 1,200 workers laid off on Jan. 20 - inauguration day for President Donald Trump - when GM canceled the third shift at its Lordstown small-car factory here. Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan, the only vehicle the plant makes, have nosedived as consumers switch to SUVs and pickup trucks. Streb is looking for another job, but employers are wary because they assume he will quit whenever GM calls him back. "I get it," said Streb, who has a degree in communications, "but it's frustrating." Layoffs at Lordstown and other auto plants point to a broader challenge for the economy in Midwestern manufacturing states and for the Trump administration. "This is about economics, not what Trump says. Even if Trump went out and bought 10,000 Cruzes a month, he wouldn't get the third shift back here." The auto industry's boom from 2010 through last year was a major driver for manufacturing job creation. The fading of that boom threatens prospects for US industrial output and job creation that were central to Trump's victory in Ohio and other manufacturing states. "This is about economics, not what Trump says," said Robert Morales, president of United Auto Workers (UAW) union Local 1714, which represents workers at GM's stamping plant at Lordstown. "Even if Trump went out and bought 10,000 Cruzes a month, he wouldn't get the third shift back here." Last week the Federal Reserve said factory output fell 0.4 percent in May, the second decline in three months, due partly to a 2 percent drop in motor vehicles and parts production. Mark Muro, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, has compiled data from government sources that show the auto industry punching higher than its weight in job creation in recent years - accounting for between 60 percent and 80 percent of all US manufacturing jobs added in 2015 and 2016. In the first quarter of this year, the auto industry accounted for less than 2 percent of the 45,000 manufacturing jobs created. "There's no argument with the idea that auto has been pulling the manufacturing sled up the mountain for the last three or four years," Muro said.
Ford partnering with MIT, Stanford on autonomous vehicle research
Fri, 24 Jan 2014Ask any car engineer what's the biggest variable in achieving fuel economy targets, and he'll tell you "the driver." If one human can't understand human driving behavior enough to be certain about an innocuous number like miles per gallon, how is an autonomous car supposed to figure out what hundreds of other drivers are going to do in the course of a day? Ford has enlisted the help of Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to find out.
Starting with the automated Fusion Hybrid introduced in December, MIT will be developing algorithms that driverless cars can use to "predict actions of other vehicles and pedestrians" and objects within the three-dimensional map provided by its four LIDAR sensors.
The Stanford team will research how to extend the 'vision' of that LIDAR array beyond obstructions while driving, analogous to the way a driver uses the entire width of a lane to see what's ahead of a larger vehicle in front. Ford says it wants to "provide the vehicle with common sense" as part of its Blueprint for Mobility, preparing for an autonomous world from 2025 and beyond.
