This is a RAT ROD!!!!  NOT A $45,000 hot rod!!!  please bid with this in mind.... however, this truck is awesome!!!

THE TRUCK:
It's a 1947 Ford for cab with a ton of mismatched parts.  The 30's bed is not straight in any kind of way, and it has 50's rear fenders.  I got the fenders with some kind of metal work already done to them, and they are misshapen a bit.  All metal body is almost completely rust free, and in great condition other than tons of dings, dents and patches.  When I say it's in good condition, I am talking about the thickness and quality of the metal and deterioration...not the actual shape.  I will say again....this is a RAT ROD!!!

THE DRIVELINE:
The motor is a 327 sbc, of course I was told it has a cam... I can only go on what it sounds like and what I've been told. It sounds awesome!  Open straight pipes, Edelbrock performance intake manifold, HEI distributor, 8mm accel wires, electric fan, Holley carb, new water pump, new thermostat, and new various gaskets and seals.  Overall, the motor is in great condition.  The transmission is a th350 which is a 3 speed automatic. It has a new filter and new pan gasket and rear seal.  Drive shaft is new with new universals and balanced.  The front frame is from a Ford Ranger, and I believe the rear end is also.  The rear frame is hand fabricated and the passenger side rail is the air tank for the air ride.

AIR RIDE:
The bags in the front are ss5 slam specialties, the rear I think are Connitech (not sure).  I used a Viair 400 compressor with manual paddle valves.  This is a slow setup as far as going up and down, however it is a very reliable setup.  Manual valves means no frozen valves in the winter, and no electric issues.  Viair 400s are, in my mind, the best compressor ever made.  I used 1/4 dot airline, once again, very basic yet dependable. The rear suspension is a 2 link with cantilever.  Front and rear both have shocks and ride very nice.  I pride myself on my bag setups, and have done hundreds of them.

THE WHEELS:
The wheels right now are 20's from a past project, the tires have good tread on them.  If you want, we can work something out, I have a set of white walls that the truck looks good on... it just wasn't the look I was going for.

THE INTERIOR:
Very bare bones. Just a handmade steering wheel and shifter, and a leather bench seat from a Toyota Sienna.  It has an oil gauge and a temperature gauge.  That's it.  The ignition is a 200amp breaker style key. I always use them because they are very dependable.  The cab lights on top do work, and there is a switch on the dash for them.

OVERALL:
Once again...this is a RAT ROD!!!!  The headlights and tail lights work, but no turn signals.  I use hand signals. The motor sounds amazing and the tranny shifts well.  Cruises around 55/60 very nicely. I've had it over 75,  but I don't like seeing rpms over 3,000.  Has glass in both windows that is in fair condition, and front and rear glass are there.... I might have the front windows replaced before sale.  They are cracked on one side of the glass and are hazzy due to age.

ABOUT ME:
I own a small Hot Rod/Rat Rod shop called VILLAGE CUSTOMS.  Feel free to look up any of my shops work from the past.  I have done dozens and dozens of cars and trucks, some with features in magazines.  It is very easy to find any of my work on YouTube or Google.  THIS IS NOT MY FIRST TRY!!!!!  I have done plenty of full custom builds, hundreds of bagged rides, and have had many many happy customers.

This woman owns the first Ford Mustang sold in the US

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

As Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Mustang with the unveiling of the all-new sixth-gen design, one Chicago women can lay claim to a piece of Mustang history. According to CBS Chicago, Gail Wise was the first person in the US to buy a Mustang in 1964, and she did so two days before the car was even unveiled to the public.
Wise, then a 22-year-old teacher, went into the Chicago Ford dealership wanting to buy a convertible, and a salesperson ushered her over to car covered by a tarp. That car was a baby blue Mustang convertible, which she still owns today - along with the documentation. After sitting for almost 30 years and undergoing a full restoration, the car now looks to be in original condition. The report says that this $3,400 purchase could be worth anywhere between $100,000 and $250,000. While this worked out well for Mrs. Wise, we wouldn't recommend anyone going into a dark, back room of a dealership hoping to get a jump on the purchase of a 2015 Mustang.

Shelby American cleans house of 14 concept cars

Wed, 25 Jun 2014

Typically when an automaker rolls out a concept car or pre-production prototype, it does its tour and then disappears into the company's archives. Maybe it will be displayed for the public to see in the company's own museum or maybe it will spend most of its time under covers in a warehouse somewhere, but every once in a while, an automaker will open up its history and start selling off its concept cars. For Shelby American, "once in a while" has just rolled around.
The House that Carroll Built is moving from its previous headquarters at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to a new facility off of the Las Vegas strip, and in the process is liquidating fourteen of the rarest cars in its collection. That presents a tremendous opportunity for muscle car collectors to bring one or more of these snakes home.
As you might expect, the catalog is composed mostly of Mustangs, but not exclusively. There's a pair of 289 Cobras: the last of the 50th anniversary slab-sided continuation cars and an original development vehicle, offered at $200,000 apiece. At the other end of the spectrum you'll find the 2013 Shelby Raptor concept for $125k and Focus concept for $50k. And of course there are the Mustangs.

Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R Nismo star in World's Greatest Drag Race 4

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.
The lineup this year boasts some impressively fast cars to be sure. The group of ten includes the following darlings: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI and, last but not least, the Volkswagen GTI. Give us any one of those for the weekend, and we're happy to take the keys.
It must be said though, that for a publication that draws as much water as Motor Trend does, there are some big cars that we might expect to be here instead. The Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 458 Speciale would have added some exotic flare to the list, and the omissions of the Chevy Corvette Stingray (for the second year in a row) and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat are real head-scratchers.
