1963 E100 Econoline Pickup:

  • Very solid, great running truck
  • Currently licensed and insured and is driven to cruise nights and car shows on a daily basis
  • It is painted in an amateur old school enamel satin white, complete with very tasteful TURQUOISE pinstriping and wide white portawalls with freshly sandblasted and painted TURQUOISE wheels with chrome lug nuts.
  • The original drivetrain was recently replaced with a 200 c.i. mustang six with a synchronized 3 on the tree.
  • The speedometer and odometer are slightly out of calibration because of the trans swap but it is reading 46,945 which is the original mileage.
  • The truck is running off a 12 gallon stainless fuel cell so there is no working gas gauge.
  • All turn signals, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and parking lights work as they should.
  • The temp gauge functions and the ampmeter and oil pressure gauge are working idiot lights.
  • The truck runs and drives incredibly well and gets somewhere upwards of 20 mpg.
  • There is very little bondo in the  truck and this is mostly over some homemade sheet metal patches done many years ago.
  • I am no body man so it will still need some sanding and filling to make these areas better.
  • The wipers work and the heater fan blows and there is a heater core in it but there are no hoses hooked up to it.
  • The horn is currently not working nor are the dash lights.
  • The truck also features the original manual choke which works as it should.
  • The original gas tank is still in place but the condition is unknown.
  • Also the undercarriage has been all blasted and been painted rustoleum satin black.
  • There is one small hole in the passenger side floor and is an easy fix.
  • Also available are a shortened drive shaft & cross member with motor mounts for a V-8 conversion and a set of 14 in. Craiger SS with unilug pattern w/ tires.
  • I also have brand new, in the box, rubber vent window seals which I have not installed.
  • PLEASE CALL BEFORE BIDDING.  I CAN TALK FOR HOURS ABOUT THIS TRUCK.
  • PLEASE NOTE:  The pinstriping and wheels appear to be blue but are TURQUOISE.
  • Call Jim 773-615-4790  (Oak Forest, Illinois)

Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.

Ford posts record pre-tax Q3 profit of $2.6B

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Ford took in $2.6 billion in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, making for a record trio of months that saw the Blue Oval's year-over-year earnings increase by $426 million. The earnings are being attributed not just to improvements in North American sales, but sales around the globe.
Revenue was up 12 percent, to $36 billion, although net income took a hit, dropping $359 million to $1.3 billion. Ford was dinged with $498 million in pre-tax charges, which are being blamed for the drop in net income.
The news has boosted Ford's hopes for full-year results, bumping it's total profits up past $8 billion, according to Automotive News. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer is still expecting a loss in Europe, although it's forecasted less than the $1.73 billion it burned in 2012. In fact, according to CFO Bob Shanks, Ford's European losses dropped by 51 percent year-over year, a huge improvement for the brand.

Obama to herald auto industry turnaround from idled Ford plant

Tue, Jan 6 2015

President Barack Obama will tout the recent successes of the American auto industry in a speech on Wednesday. This would be a fine and dandy plan aside from two small hitches. First, the president is visiting Ford's Wayne, MI factory, which is rather strange considering the government bailed out the company's local rivals, Chrysler and General Motors. Even more worrying, considering the topic of the speech, is that the Wayne facility has been idled due to a lack of demand. According to The Detroit News, the White House said the speech will focus on "the workers in the resurgent American automotive and manufacturing sector now that the auto rescue has been completed and the decision to save the auto industry and the over one million jobs that went with it." Wayne Assembly employs some 5,100 Michiganders when its lines are up and running, but as gas prices have plunged below $2 per gallon in some areas over the past month, its fuel-efficient products – the Focus and C-Max – have seen their sales plummet, as well. In December, the Focus' year-over-year sales were down 4.4 percent, while the C-Max dipped 3.3 percent, Ford told The News. Lagging sales for the two compacts aren't a new thing, though. Focus sales in all of 2014 were down 6.4 percent, while the C-Max struggled with a 21.6-percent drop last year. According to The News, Ford made the decision to idle the factory before being approached by the White House. Considering that, we wonder what the team at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was thinking when it selected the Ford facility, and what impact the location will have on the president's message.
