Okay everybody!! :)  Here goes!  :)  My name is Andrea and I'm selling my grandpa's 1951 Ford Pickup Truck for him here on Ebay.  I'll have to wipe that perpetual tear from my eye and suck it up!  lol!  :)  I hate to see this truck go!  We all do!  I remember driving around with Grandpa in this truck when I was about 2, circa 1979, when it was still a dirty red color.  Alas, he can no longer drive it so there's no sense in it sitting there doing nothing but looking pretty!  lol!! :)  So, we're putting it up for auction in the hopes of earning some well deserved money for the gramps!  (...and the gram's...ha!!)  I've discussed the details with Grandpa and I'm going to do my very best to put all of the details here in the description for you.  If you have ANY questions that can't be answered through email, Grandpa said that he'd be happy to talk to you on the phone.  847-336-1610 is the number for the gramps!  :)  His name is Jim by the way.  :)  I'd hate for you to call and have to be like, "uhm, yes, may I please speak to "the gramps"!!  lol!  :)

Grandpa said that he purchased this vehicle in approximately 1964.  He purchased it from his dad.  His dad bought it in Wisconsin approximately 3-6 months before my Grandpa purchased it.  That's all we know on the back story.  It's currently registered in the state of Illinois.

I've been sort of "up in the air" as to what to title this auction.  The truck is a 1951 Ford Pickup and that's what the title says.  However, it has been modified in many ways, so I'm going to call it "modified stock".  That's the category we had to enter it in when I talked Grandpa into entering it in the Nostalgia Days competition a few years ago.  :)

The color of the truck is:  Bright Teal Metallic.  It was rebuilt and painted about 6 years ago.  It has the teal as the base coat and a coat of clear on top.  Regarding the condition of the paint.  It's beautiful and I'm a perfectionist.  If you want to be nitpicky, I'm sure you could probably find a tiny surface scratch here or there.  I have to say that just in case.  Honestly though, it's great!  It was just buffed out a few months ago.  Just look at the photos.  :)  If you require further photos just let me know.  :)  Grandpa said that it hasn't been driven hard since the rebuild.

Since it hasn't been driven hard since the rebuild, Grandpa is calling the following items "fresh".  It has a freshly rebuilt 350 Chevy Engine.  It also has a freshly rebuilt 350 Automatic Transmission.  He said that there's probably only been between 1000-2000 miles put on it since the rebuild.

It has "Vintage Air" brand air conditioning installed and it has a heater.  They all work fine!  Grandpa took me out to the garage yesterday and we started it up and turned on the A.C. and my hand was freezing.  You could hear it kicking on just fine.  :)  There's a switch just under the dashboard that you flip if you want A.C. or heat depending on the season.  It's not hard to get to.  Grandpa showed it to me.

Instead of having a mechanical cooling fan, it has an electric cooling fan to cool the radiator.

It has power disk brakes.

Power steering.

Tilt Steering column.

New electric wiring for the lights, ignition, etc.

It has a tinted windshield.  I never realized that so I asked Grandpa about it today and he said it's a pretty light tint.

New rubber for the glass around windows and doors and new door seals.

New window channels.

New Set of Tires.  Grandpa said that they're "like new" and the brand is B.F. Goodrich.

Electric windshield wipers.

There's White Oak hardwood installed inside the box floor.  It was stained a medium color.  We can't remember the name of the stain, but you can see it in the pictures.  It also has a generous polyurethane coat.  It shines beautifully!  :)  All of the hardware (bolts/nuts) in the box floor are stainless steel.  The bed runners are also stainless steel.

Stainless Steel Tailgate Chains.

The front bumper is stainless steel.

Chrome rear step bumper.

New headliner for the cab.  It's black.  The new carpet is also black.  The seats are custom made black Naugahyde Leather.

Powder coated grille and associated things (piece that has the Ford logo on the front and the V8 logo)

Dropped front spindles (dropped approximately 3 1/2 inches so that the front end sits lower than the back end).

New front coil springs.

There was a frame change...this has a 1977 Chevy Running Gear.

Stainless Steel Outside mirrors.

New Step Plates and new running boards.  (Gramp says they're Smoothie running boards).

There are 3 seatbelts installed.

Complete Brake Rebuild.

New cylinder and pads for the brakes.

Chrome casings for headlights

Regarding the mileage; the odometer on the truck isn't the original so we have no way of knowing the actual mileage.  I will put down what it currently reads just to satisfy EBay's requirement!  :)  It currently reads 31908

There's also an "ooga" horn and a regular horn!

I was questioning Grandpa down for more details and honestly, I was a little confused here but I know he said that the grille is more than 1 part and he mentioned a bullet set.  Hopefully all you car people know what that means.  :)  lol.  Then he started talking about Escutcheons.  I'm not gonna lie; he lost me at "escutcheons"!!  lol!!  He said it's something to do with trim pieces.  lol.  Somewhere on the truck, there are escutcheons!  lolol!! :)

Grandpa also has many extra parts for this truck.  In fact he has a whole shelf of them.  He said that whoever buys it can have what they want from that shelf.  I told him that we have to be very specific about what goes with this auction.  So, he said to include ALL of his extra parts for this truck, with it in the auction.  So, you will get extra parts if you win!  He said that he has an extra grille, a box full of speedometers, a box full of gauges and LOTS of misc. parts.  That's the best I could get as to the specifics.  If you have any questions about the extra parts, I'll direct those questions to him.  lol!! :)

Regarding arranging pickup or shipment of the vehicle. The buyer will be responsible to pick up the vehicle from Waukegan, IL 60087. If you absolutely need to have the vehicle shipped to you, we would be willing to help arrange that. However, the buyer will be responsible for ALL associated costs! :)

Like I said before, if you have ANY questions, whatsoever, and I'm sure you will, please don't hesitate to ask!  Grandpa is only a phone call away!  :)  ...and I'll get back to you a.s.a.p.  ...or you are welcome to call him yourself!  :)  The number is above.  Thanks a bunch for looking and bidding!  Our family truly appreciates it!  :)  ~Andrea :)

2015 Ford Mustang fuel economy ratings leaked

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Thinking about buying a new Mustang, but want to know what kind of fuel economy it'll get? Well we have our first indication as the pony-car enthusiasts over at Mustang6G.com have gotten a hold of the Monroney window stickers for a few of the new 2015 Mustang models.
Although the V8 model is not among them, we can now see how the EPA has rated those models with a half dozen pistons or less. The Mustang EcoBoost with the turbo four and a manual transmission has been rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway. The V6 manual gets 17 city and 28 highway, while the V6 automatic squeezes out a bit more in the city at 19 mpg but carries the same 28 highway rating.
By way of comparison, the latest Chevy Camaro with the V6 and a stick shift gets the same 17/28 EPA rating as a similarly equipped new 'Stang, and the V6 automatic Camaro gets 18/27 (slightly behind the Ford, but if you opt for the Camaro 2LS with its V6, automatic and 2.92 rear axle ratio, you'll be looking at 19 and 30).

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

NHTSA closes Ford F-150 EcoBoost acceleration probe

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Typically when we report on the findings of an investigation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it's because the government body has discovered a safety issue and prescribed a recall. In this case, however, NHTSA has closed an investigation into a reported performance deficit without ever getting to the recall stage.
The issue revolves around the Ford F-150 - specifically those equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine - of which some 360,000 were built in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 model years. After receiving an initial 95 complaints, NHTSA opened an investigation last May - almost a year ago - into the reported issue of reduced engine power under hard acceleration. The agency has since received a total of 525 such complaints, and Ford itself reported receiving over 4,000.
Together, NHTSA and Ford determined that the problem resulted from cylinders misfiring, an issue itself stemming from water getting into the charge air cooler (CAC) mated to the turbochargers. In particularly humid or rainy conditions, water was found to get into the CAC, causing some of the cylinders to misfire, which in turn triggered the ECU to disable those cylinders in order to protect the catalytic converter from damage.
