35 Ford Hot Rod Rat Rod Pick Up Truck Chopped And Channeled Sbc Th350 on 2040-cars
Mission Viejo, California, United States
Up for sale is my '35 Ford Rat Rod truck. The body is all steel with a hand fabricated bed, all of the cab, hood, grill and radiator shell are original parts from this Washington state farm truck. The body has been chopped and channeled about 5" and the frame has been stretched about 6". That said, the truck is well sorted mechanically and drives very well, longer trips are not an issue. Windshield is fixed mounted with a functioning windshield wiper.
Drive train consists of a 355" SBC, stock rebuild with an HEI distributor and 650 Edelbrock carb. Trans is a TH350 with a Ford 8" rear and Torque Thrust II wheels. Suspension is a dropped front end on coil-overs front and rear. Disk brakes on the front and drums rear. The bed interior is finished in wood, not the pretiest but it works fine, has a 12 gallon fuel cell and a taneu cover. The hood and two-piece hinged taneu both operate with hidden latch pulls. Interior is pretty spartan, original dash with aluminum insert and aluminum door panels, Mustang II seats and Camaro steering column, CD player in the glove box with speaker boxes behind the seats, and some dynamat to cover the sheetmetal. All windows are good but it does need a new drivers side regulator, maybe $60. The window goes up and down but the regulator is stripped so the window will drop by gravity. I just leave it down. Overall the truck is in very good shape, absolutely no rust, and straight body. The paint is garage sprayed with some imperfections, but looks good. Truck runs well, although the trans and diff have a leak and the SBC pushes some oil past two cyclinders. Looks like a simple valve seal so should be minor. Truck is titled in California with a legit VIN number. Please ask all questions before bidding |

70% of pickups could use aluminum by 2025
Wed, 11 Jun 2014In the next decade, the auto industry will see an explosion in its use of aluminum to cut weight and increase fuel economy, according to a study from market analysts Ducker Worldwide cited by The Detroit News. We are already seeing the lightweight metal show up extensively in luxury models from Europe, but with the impending launch of aluminum-intensive 2015 Ford F-150 (pictured above), North America is using it even more, as well. The report predicts 70 percent of US pickups to have aluminum bodies by 2025.
It won't just be pickups that see the benefit, though. The average amount of aluminum in US vehicles is forecasted by the study to grow from an average of 350 pounds in 2013 to about 550 pounds by 2025. The most common parts to use it will be hoods, doors and - to some extent - roofs, as well.
The massive increase in pickups' aluminum content hardly seems surprising. The F-150 is predicted to use so much that it might cause a short-term shortage, according to one earlier report. At the same time General Motors is heavily rumored to be negotiating with suppliers for the next generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Ram is the last holdout of the Big Three, but the study predicts that not to last.
Ford hiring 800 more salaried workers than originally expected
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Ford is on a roll this year, with excellent quarterly earnings and better-than-expected vehicle sales leading to 800 more job opportunities with the Blue Oval. In January, Ford announced that it wanted to hire 2,200 salaried employees, but, since then, that figure has been revised to 3,000, representing a 36-percent increase over original projections. About 1,500 of those jobs remain, 80 percent of which are technical professional positions.
"Engineers and technical professionals are in as much demand as our cars, trucks and SUVs," says Felicia Fields, Ford Group Vice President for Human Resources. Helping to spur this job growth are increasing market share on both the West and East Coast and robust demand for the Ford Escape and F-150.
To find job candidates, Ford is reaching out to them via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, in addition to the company's corporate career site. The Blue Oval is also ramping up its presence on college campuses.
Ford is building this sweet back-to-basics SUV in Brazil
Mon, 02 Jun 2014We're use to forbidden fruit teasing us in Europe. Hatchbacks and diesels from Renault, Citroën, Peugeot, Skoda, SEAT and Alfa Romeo have been a regular torment that we've grown accustomed to over the years. This vehicle, though, is one piece of forbidden fruit we aren't entirely sure we can get over. We need it.
It's called the Ford Troller T4, and if you accidentally read that as either "reborn Ford Bronco" or "Americanized Land Rover Defender," we wouldn't be rushing to correct you. It's a basic, badass SUV, and is the first new vehicle to come from Troller since Ford gobbled it up in 2007. For those with longer memories, you'll recognize this vehicle from the concept that preceded it, the Ford T-R Concept. The production model remains remarkably true to the T-R, as well as past Trollers, but it's a slightly more modern look overall, with LED taillights, contrasting colors
You'll have to bear with us on the details, as we've been forced to rely on the notoriously literal Google Translate to convert the original Portuguese into English, which means some of the details were lost along the way.
