Up for auction is our extremely rare 1988 SALEEN Ranger. This is number 21 of 29 made of which two of those were not sold and used for racing by SALEEN. Its anyone's guess as to how many are left, but I would guess very few. This Survivor has only 14,100 original documented miles. Sold new here in Colorado, at Courtesy Ford to a friend of ours. He owned it until 1996 then sold it to a local car collector. It was stored in a climate controlled building until I purchased it and included it in our classic car collection. I am the third owner and the title still reads 14,100 actual miles!! It has never been a daily driver and always garaged. The only flaws are as follows; the right rear valance has been repaired (looks fine though), fuel gauge does not work, and the A/C blows cool (not cold). Everything else on the truck is nearly perfect for a 25 year old truck. It drives very tight, smooth and has great power. The engine runs perfect. The clutch is smooth and grabs well and the transmission shifts very smooth. It truly drives like a new 1988 Ranger. With the SALEEN installed Racecraft suspension it handles very well and has a nice ride. Its a very original truck, including its original Konig wheels with their original General 2000 sport tires. The paint is all very nice and shows well. The inside of the bed has a liner (easily removable), the bed floor is perfect and unused. All glass is nice. The interior is all original SALEEN that looks new. It retains it's SALEEN installed number plate on the dash and inner fender well. Also has the door decal. Making this truck without a doubt an original SALEEN Ranger. The engine compartment looks new as well as the undercarriage. Original, unused spare tire. This truck is perfect as a museum piece or a great addition to any collection, especially if you collect SALEENS!! I have a current Colorado title in my name that is ready to reassign. If you have questions please call 303 475-4544 for more information. Thanks for viewing my SALEEN. |

Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.

Sunday Drive: Volvo hits a crossover home run, and people still love sports cars
Sun, Sep 24 2017Looking back at the week that just was clearly tells us at least three things. First, crossovers don't have to be boring. Second, people still love sports cars, from the attainable (Audi TT RS) to the fanciful (Mercedes-AMG GT C). And finally, the traditional German trio of premium luxury brands had better not rest on their laurels, because credible challengers are coming in from every direction. The biggest reveal of the week, at least judging by the interest of Autoblog readers, was the Volvo XC40. Not only is the little 'ute a looker, it introduces some innovative new buying/leasing schemes designed to appeal to an audience accustomed to trading in and trading up every couple of years. Think of Volvo's flat-fee lease as you would a smartphone contract, and you'll be on the right track. Genesis looks to have a hit on its hands in the form of the G70 sport sedan. We took a Korean-spec model for a spin and found a lot to like about the upstart contender. We can't wait to sample one here in the United States to see how it stacks up against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In other news, we're still really excited to see a production Ford Ranger Raptor. But if you just can't wait for the official reveal — it's OK, neither can we — take a look at the renderings in our post down below. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry.
