1976 Ford F750 Crew Cab Oleynik Enclosed Race Car Transporter- Vintage Car Safe on 2040-cars
Petaluma, California, United States
I purchased this truck about three years ago from a well regarded PNW vintage racer who put one race car inside and another on a trailer and towed everything to the track. When I bought the truck it was in storage in southern California. A friend flew down to pick it up, loaded in a Buick Skylark in LA and drove it to San Francisco without incident. I had plans to preserve the vintage character but upgrade to diesel power. That project never was initiated. Instead the truck has served as a rolling garage and tow truck for my street Alfa Romeos. The paint appears to be original, but the gloss is long gone. All the body panels appear original condition. No evidence of collision damage/repair. The interior is in very good condition. No rips or tears in the vinyl seats, front or rear. Carpet is fine. Headliner should be replace as some water intrusion has warped the backing board. The box is 20' x 8' x 8'. Tee side compartments include a gas generator for trackside repairs. Rear roll-up door is wood, and is starting to rot on the bottom panel (seen only from inside) and should be replaced. The interior paneling is in good condition. The solid oak floor is in excellent condition. Electric winch is recessed into the floor. Fiberglass roof fairing. Good tIres including a spare front tire/wheel. The engine is a V8, 5sp manual, 2sp differential. Hydraulic brakes. LR brake cylinder leaks. Pinion seal leaks. Steering gear box has a lot of play in it. This truck has been largely off the road for a few years and requires some attention (wheel cylinder, steering gear box) to be ready for anything more than a cross town haul, mostly because of the wheel cylinder. Good oil pressure. Gauges work, lights work, turn signals work. To travel any considerable distance the truck should be transported on a flat bed trailer to your location. The wheel cylinder can be repaired locally for a couple hours labor at a reputable big rig shop. I can arrange the repairs for the buyer prior to pick up.
NO RESERVE! THIS TRUCK WILL SELL TO THE BEST BID This truck is outdoors in a secured location and does not have to be moved immediately. If you purchase the truck it can stay until summer, rent-free. The truck is located in Sonoma County, 40 minutes north of San Francisco, CA. |

Ford reports 58% drop in Q2 profits on European losses
Wed, 25 Jul 2012
Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has posted a $1 billion profit for the second quarter of 2012. That sounds like good news for the Blue Oval, until you take into account that Ford posted a $2.4 billion profit for Q2 a year ago. That is a substantial 58 percent loss.
Ford also posted $465 million in international losses, with $404 million of those losses coming directly from Europe. The automaker also increased its European loss projections to $1 billion for 2012, due in large part to the economic crisis overseas, which has resulted in increased unemployment and decreased consumer confidence.
Oprah at it again, gives car away on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Sat, 17 Aug 2013Oprah Winfrey loves giving away cars. Not only has she given Pontiac G6 sedans and Volkswagen Beetle retro-mobiles to everyone in the audience of her past show, but the other night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! she gave another car away to one lucky audience member, while yelling her now-famous line: "You get a car!"
Although the acting of Oprah and Jimmy Kimmel was obviously staged for this giveaway, the reaction from the woman in the audience was genuine shock as she found out that she had just won a new Ford Fusion Energi. Congrats!
Not to take away from what Oprah and Jimmy pulled off, but our cynical sides have to wonder if there isn't more than just a little coincidence that this giveaway took place on the same day that Ford announced a fuel economy reduction for the C-Max hybrid. You be the judge... Scroll down to watch the short clip from the episode.
Ford Escort Concept goes back to basics
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Here's the thing about China: The folks buying cars there have a very different set of standards than shoppers in many other markets around the globe. While we all drool over hot metal with bold designs, and while we appreciate automakers going an extra step to inject even their cheapest offerings with aggressive and interesting cues, that sort of sheetmetal sex appeal doesn't always sell in the People's Republic. Case in point is Jaguar, which may be designing a more traditional-looking version of its XJ for the Chinese market, or more to the point of this story, Ford currently sells the less-exciting, last-generation Focus compact in China right alongside the new one.
So consider this new Shanghai-bound C-segment concept a preview of what's to come for that more traditional, budget-minded, less-sexy market. More proof of this pudding: Ford's even calling this concept the Escort - a nod to the Blue Oval's compact car days of yore, and a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design. "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious," Ford states. And this new Escort concept previews a possibility of providing exactly that for this rapidly expanding automotive market.
What you're looking at, then, is one of the most simple Ford designs we've seen of late, though it still incorporates all of the automaker's latest DNA. The signature hexagonal grille is front and center, flanked by attractive LED headlamps and chrome-rimmed foglamp housings. The entire car's design focuses on clean, smooth surfaces, with one strong character line flowing from front to back just below the beltline. We will say that the car looks decidedly more premium from the rear view, where narrow, horizontal taillamps with an LED accent give the car added visual width. Bland as it may be, it's a handsome little concept, though fear what would likely happen if all of the conceptual details get dumbed down for a production model.
