1963 Ford Econoline 5 Window Pickup V8 , Disc Brakes, Auto, 9" Rear Restored on 2040-cars
Monroe, Connecticut, United States
For your consideration, 1963 Ford Econoline 5 Window V8 / auto conversion hot rod. A clean and well engineered conversion using a mid 70's 302 V8 and C4 auto transmission. The truck even uses original on the tree shift lever
to actuate auto linkage. The truck looks pretty close to stock but with 1965 Mustang Seats and American Racing torque thrust 15" wheels. The side pipes and V8 emblems along with headers let you know a V8 lurks underneath. This truck has been driven although it has a show quality 10k paint job, there are some chip touchups and the Rhino lined bed has a few chips, but again this truck drives, runs and looks amazing. I am an auto appraiser, love cars and this truck has been a 4 year joy to restore and drive. The truck came from Washington State, then Montana, then to CT where I restored. It has the Washington St title and I will provide a Connecticut Bill Of Sale as we do not issue titles on vintage vehicles. Keep in mind, this truck is 51 years old and has rattles, squeaks and drives like an old truck, it is NOT a Lexus. Probably better to summarize: Reason For Sale: I just don't drive it enough and with 2 kids, I am looking for a 4 seat type of toy :) The Good and Highlights - V8 (Ford 302) conversion with Chevy doghouse used - new Edelbrock manifold and carb - Hedman custom headers and sidepipes - Automatic c4 transmission - Ford 9" rear end - all original metal - Optima battery - NO RUST, no dents - Chassis was coated with epoxy paint and is CLEAN - American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels, tires are 60% - FRONT disc brakes - this is great for the truck to make it more easily and safely drive-able - 10k show paint job with Rhino lined bed - Aftermarket stereo with iPhone hookup - sounds great - ENTIRE truck restored, new handles, new visors, dash knobs - Interior was dynomatted, insulated, carpeted with rubber mats- MINT - Custom interior accents - 1965 Mustang seats - Tuck and Roll roof and interior panels - Simpson lap belts (racing latch) - All glass, trim, emblems are new or excellent - bobbed off fenders and powder coated grill - All parts new in last 3 years What the truck Needs - Needs temperature gauge hooked up - The heater is plumbed open to allow better cooling, so no heat, but never drove in winter or cold - Fuel gauge is intermittent - Few chips / scratches touch ups - Engine compartment needs detailing - a cool new owner Please review the video below and feel free to contact me with questions. Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
Themes for previous EAA charity cars include the Blue Angels, SR-71 Blackbird and the Red Tails as well as the F-22 Raptor-inspired AV8R and AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll" models. Scroll down for the press release for the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, and be sure to check out our galleries for all six aviation-themed Mustangs.
Top Gear season 25 opens with a V8 roadtrip through America
Mon, Feb 26 2018Great news for fans of BBC Top Gear: the first episode of season 25 is here. Viewers of BBC America will catch the season opener on March 3, and for the American audience this episode is definitely suitable watching. The episode has been dedicated to V8 sportscars almost in its entirety, as it's been wrapped around a Western roadtrip with a motorsport bias. The three hosts get to choose three V8 sports cars, with the basic idea of finding the best all-rounder. Matt LeBlanc goes for a Hennessey-tuned GT350R, Rory Reid chooses a Jaguar F-Type SVR, and Chris Harris shakes up the pack by selecting a McLaren 570GT. It's a nicely varied trio, with V8 power still showing what it's good for. There are various challenges along the way, just like there should be on a Top Gear roadtrip episode – even if the road surface itself isn't always ideal. But things smoothen out, all the way to a NASCAR oval and an airport runway; the flooded Bonneville salt flats aren't suitable for shenanigans, so substitutes have to be found. The trio also hit dirt roads, and have to evade a buggy-driving Ken Block during a "moonshine run to the border." Fans of Sabine Schmitz will be pleased to find her piloting a chain car racer, which consists of two American junk cars with a Honda CRX chained in the middle. It must make sense to someone. The Star In A Reasonably Priced Car segment has been retained for this season. This time it's the British actor Rob Brydon driving the Toyota GT86, on a very wet lap around the show's Dunsfold Aerodrome track that must be a cult classic by now. All in all, the season 25 opener is exactly what it says on the tin. There's nothing out of the ordinary, but it still has excellent cinematography, V8 roar and some nice landscapes. Classic Top Gear. Cowboy duels, Sabine Schmitz chain car racing, @RobBrydon, a @kblock43 car chase and #TheStig The latest episode of #TopGear is available on @BBCiPlayer now. Outside the UK? Entry-level F-150 now offers SuperCrew, Sport Package
Thu, 29 Aug 2013Ford has made a few notable tweaks to the lower end of its F-150 lineup, giving customers a more affordable version of the four-door SuperCrew body style. The popular SuperCrew could previously only be had on XLT models and above, but Ford has announced that 2014 F-150s with the base STX trim can get the more versatile body.
The STX SuperCrew brings the price of a four-door F-150 down from $34,525 to $33,145. Like the XLT SuperCrew, the STX will be available with the choice of a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed, while a 5.0-liter V8 can replace the base 3.7-liter V6 for $4,425. Ford has not released pricing on the different bed lengths yet, but opting for the 6.5-foot bed on the XLT raises the price $1,240 and forces buyers into the 5.0-liter V8. We'd expect a similar arrangement on the STX.
The other big news for fans of affordable pickups is the addition of an STX Sport Package on the base-level truck. It adds 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, black-and-gray cloth seats and decals on the truck's box. The Sport Package is available on all three of the STX's body styles, with Ford listing the price as $980 with current discounts.
