1952 Ford F1 Chop Top Rat Rod!

Please make sure it's a custom rat rod that you want and you will find the hardest work is done! This truck is a sweet set up if you love this look. It takes a ton of work to get them to this stage. It is sold as is, where is. Please come see it, have it checked, ask questions! I have let this thing sit for two years and am just not getting to it as a project so it's time to free up the space.

Nonrefundable $500 deposit due within 24 hours, balance due in cash, cashier's check, or bank transfer. Please do not bid if you do not have immediate funds available.

This is a bad to the bone chop top pick-up! 1952 was the year Ford had the "teeth" grill which you can see looks very cool when set up low like this one.
  • It has a roller 5.0 302 engine with about 30 pounds of oil pressure at idle and 50 cruising.
  • It has a Holley 500cfm 2 barrel and dual flows.
  • Single traction rear end mated to a rebuilt AOD overdrive trasmission
  • A 69 Camaro clip, Ford 9 inch rear end
  • Tilt GM column
  • Power steering and power brakes!
  • Stereo and heater
  • Clear title in my name
  • Yes, the gas tank in the back is a beer keg that holds 15 gallons!
It has a receiver hitch so you can tow if you want. Glass front and back, and plexi side windows that need replacing (See pics, I will include the side window templates if you want to have glass cut - it's flat glass)

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • Buyer is responsible for all shipping/pick-up
  • This is a rat rod, not a restored truck. How much work you want to do is up to you. It is right now, a 25 footer (the closer you get from 25 feet the less perfect it looks!).
  • I went out last week charged the battery (1 year old), topped off the radiator, oil, transmission, and bled the brakes. Started her up and ran her down the road and back. Please copy/paste this link in your browser to see video:
  • She starts, drives, turns, the brakes and power steering work great. the transmission works in drive and reverse, but is not shifting. I will take it out again this week see if that changed, but you should assume it will need attention on the transmission, and a tune up.
IF you choose "Buy It Now" I will include a spare set of inner fenders (see pics) and an original set of correct running board brackets. If you don't buy it now, I will list those two things in separate auctions.

Finally, you are buying it as is, where is, and I have tried to describe the good, the bad, and the ugly. Please ask questions and check it out, make sure its what you want before bidding. Thanks!!

Ken Block ain't got a care about ruining his wheels

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

During a drifting session at Irwindale Speedway in California, Ken Block made a boo-boo that would send a number of drivers immediately back to the infield. But there's an answer to "What do you do when you bash the wall while drifting and your wheel explodes?" and there's completely different answer when the question begins with the phrase, "When you're Ken Block..."
Instead of us telling you how Block handled the calamity in his Ford Fiesta competition car, you can watch it happen in the video below. You can probably also guess what it is - but it's more fun to watch.

Ford GT40 makes historic return to racing at Goodwood

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Is there a more iconic, American racecar than the Ford GT40? That may be a discussion for another day (although by all means, tell us how wrong we are in Comments), but this video of heaps of GT40s running in the Goodwood Revival races certainly has us thinking that Ford's Ferrari-killer might just be the best racer the Land Of The Free and Home Of The Brave has ever come up with.
That's completely ignoring the fact that the GT40 was largely developed by Brits using American money, but that's besides the point (there was also a rather brash Texan, who had a big role later in development). The resulting vehicle was dominant, besting the cars of Il Commendatore from 1966 to 1969, although it should be noted that Ford's GT40 was unable to beat Ferrari in its first two Le Mans outings in 1964 and 1965.
Those four years of dominance, which started with Ford sweeping the podium, were enough to establish the GT40's legend. And now, here we are almost 50 years later, celebrating the mid-engined monsters at Goodwood, in their first ever one-make race. Take a look below for the entire video.

Entry-level F-150 now offers SuperCrew, Sport Package

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

Ford has made a few notable tweaks to the lower end of its F-150 lineup, giving customers a more affordable version of the four-door SuperCrew body style. The popular SuperCrew could previously only be had on XLT models and above, but Ford has announced that 2014 F-150s with the base STX trim can get the more versatile body.
The STX SuperCrew brings the price of a four-door F-150 down from $34,525 to $33,145. Like the XLT SuperCrew, the STX will be available with the choice of a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed, while a 5.0-liter V8 can replace the base 3.7-liter V6 for $4,425. Ford has not released pricing on the different bed lengths yet, but opting for the 6.5-foot bed on the XLT raises the price $1,240 and forces buyers into the 5.0-liter V8. We'd expect a similar arrangement on the STX.
The other big news for fans of affordable pickups is the addition of an STX Sport Package on the base-level truck. It adds 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, black-and-gray cloth seats and decals on the truck's box. The Sport Package is available on all three of the STX's body styles, with Ford listing the price as $980 with current discounts.
