This is a 1949 Ford F1 Pickup Truck. I do not know a lot of the history of this truck, but i do know this truck is mostly original. It was restored about 10 years ago. I bought it after an estate sale. I will tell you honestly what i do know. It is equipped with a Flathead Ford V8 engine and a 3-speed manual transmission with the shifter on the floor. The engine starts easily and appears to fire on all cylinders .Compression is 105-115 PSI  on all cylinders. The oil pressure is 35-50 lbs hot when checked with a Stewart Warner Gauge using fresh Valvoline 10w30 oil without any other additives. The factory oil gauge works well and is now being used. The Fuel and Temperature Gauges also work. The ammeter does not work. The transmission and rear axle seem to be ok. While much time and money has been spent on this truck, it is not perfect. It had not been driven for at least a year before i bought it. The clutch chatters somewhat, but is getting better the more it is driven. Also, the lifters tick. They are getting quieter as the truck has been driven. The front suspension feels somewhat loose, The master cylinder has been rebuilt and all the wheel cylinders and brake shoes have been replaced. Brake drums were turned. All new brake hoses. Radiator is in good shape and there are no coolant leaks. The gas tank has been boiled out and sealed with a ceramic sealer. All fuel lines are new, as is the fuel pump. The carburetor has been rebuilt. New fuel filter. Wiring is in good shape. This truck has a new factory style wiring harness. All glass appears to be new. Windows roll up and down easily. Air cleaner is included, but was removed for pictures. Bed floor is new. Running boards appear to be new. Please look at the pictures for more condition info. Better yet, inspect it yourself, or have someone you trust inspect it. I have a clear Florida title in my name. This is an as-is, where-is sale. Questions? I want you to be happy with your purchase. Call me (407)474-3782. thanks, jack

Ford Explorer gets appearance pack for 2015

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Remember when Ford launched the totally new Explorer in late 2010, and people were skeptical about how the now-crossover would fare, after ditching its traditional SUV roots? Well, we're several years in, and I think we can assuredly say that Ford made the right decision. Sales are better than ever (in fact, May was the current Explorer's best month yet), and the crossover is finding its way into the hands of a whole host of new Ford buyers.
A wholly refreshed Explorer is still forthcoming, but to keep its strong-selling crossover fresh, Ford is offering a host of improvements for the 2015 model year, including the attractive appearance package available on the XLT trim level, pictured above. Outside, the pack gets you goodies like 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, black bodyside cladding and roof rack rails. Contrasting Magnetic Metallic accents are found on the grille, mirror caps and liftgate appliqué, and there's an "Explorer" hood badge and body-colored door handles. Inside, there are new Miko suede inserts in the seats, and the package includes the automaker's Sync connectivity with MyFord Touch infotainment.
Elsewhere in the Explorer range, the Class III trailer tow pack is now standard on the Sport, base models get new 18-inch aluminum wheels, and there are three new colors on offer: Bronze Fire Metallic and Magnetic Metallic.

Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.

Ford F-150 RaptorTrax is Ken Block's ultimate snowmobile

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Even when Ken Block isn't starring in the latest Gymkhana video or tearing up Global RallyCross courses, he's finding new ways to redefine "awesome" as it applies to motorsports. For evidence of this, look no further than Block's latest Monster-badged creation, the Ford F-150 RaptorTrax.
Billed as the "world's fastest snowcat," the RaptorTrax started life as a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, and then a set of Mattracks were put in place where the truck's bead-locked wheels and meaty rubber once resided. The goal was to create a truck that made it easier - and presumably more fun - for Block and his buddies to hit the slopes on their snowboards. Aside from the obvious track upgrades, this truck also received a Whipple supercharger, full roll cage, Recaro seats, an in-bed snowboard rack, a roof basket and a rear-mounted winch - you know, just in case something or someone actually manages to get this truck stuck.
The RaptorTrax will be on display later this week at the Winter X Games in Apsen, CO, but we'll have to wait until next winter for a full Block-worthy video of the truck. A full press release from Hoonigan Racing Division is posted below, and a high-res image can be found by clicking above.
