1947 Ford 1 (one) Ton Pickup Truck Project 1942 on 2040-cars
Spring Creek, Nevada, United States
I bought this truck and was told it is a 1942. I have not checked the VIN on the frame to confirm this. With the truck came a 1947 Frame with an Idaho Title. These trucks also usually had the VIN number on a data plate attached to the inside of the glove box door. I have the door and data plate with the VIN for the 1947 Title that matches the extra frame. The extra frame has all of the running gear except the motor. The motor in the complete pickup is a six cylinder but I have not tried to turn it over. It looks to be complete except for the air cleaner. If you look at the pictures, you will notice the extra frame has 4 tires that hold air. The truck has one or two that will hold air. This has a 5 hole bolt pattern that is larger than a 1/2 ton Ford pickup. These are 17” Split rims so however the truck is loaded it only has 5 or 6 tires that hold air. The distance between the studs center to center of the stud is 4 inches. And the studs are big. The truck has no glass in it except for broken glass in the door windows. I picked 6 or 8 rocks out of the cab that took care of the windows. I tried to show the rust hole in the floor. I would plan on some work there. The cab has rust in the cab corners but the doors look good. The bed, other than dents and some cut out holes is not too rusty. The wood is bad. I tried to show the worst of the dents on the roof where it looks as if someone got on top. All in all not a bad cab. The wheelbase of this truck is 122 inches. I thought it would probably fit on a later S10 or full sized pickup frame?? That’s where the glove box VIN might be handy. That’s what I had planned to do with it but, as my wife told me, I have more projects already than I will get done in my lifetime. Unfortunately she is right. If you plan to use the original frame the gentleman I got it from told me he understood the brakes had been re-done on the 47 frame. I have not had anything apart to look at that so cannot confirm. Extra parts include a hood with the latching mechanism and Ford trim, extra set of front fenders, inner fender panels, and grill. I do have the side trim for the hood and a decent front bumper is in the bed. Also I have what I believe is a decent gas tank that someone plugged the inlet to prevent water from entering. I also have a set of headlight trim rings and park light rings. If you have any specific questions just ask. I will be happy to help get it loaded to the best of my ability. I require $500.00 via Paypal within 48 hours and rest before or when picked up. |

Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.
Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.
2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal
Fri, 22 Mar 2013True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?
