From Harrison, Maine;
In remarkable preserved condition I am offering a genuine New England Farm Truck.

BODY; This truck has no rust issues.  The body has been refreshed with minimal body filler used to
smooth surfaces.  All repairs were old restorations and done in metal. Lines are excellent, body is solid, and a fresh coat of paint has been applied.  The truck is a 10 footer.

INTERIOR. The dash, doors, and gauges are in original condition with no restoration being done.  Floors had an older patch job at some point and are solid.  Headliner is circa 1958 and appears old
but serviceable. I did recover the original seat. The truck does have an excellent aftermarket heater.

BED; This Ford F1 has the deluxe metal bed that was inserted over the wood bed.  Both are in good condition.

UNDER CARRIAGE. The frame and under carriage are clean.  Only surface rust appears in some spots on the axle and springs.  At some point the truck had a very serious re-conditioning of the entire frame and rear bed.  It is still in very good shape.

ENGINE. The deluxe model in 1946 offered the Ford Flathead V8-29A  compression 6.4:1 power 100 hp. This has a single carb.  The motor runs flawlessly. Exterior the engine is clean but age appropriate dirt and grim.

TRANSMISSION; Again the Deluxe has the four speed stick tranny with square gears (double clutch).  Tranny does not leak and runs flawlessly.

BRAKES; I was told that they were recently redone.  I have driven the truck (about 400 miles) with no issues.

EXHAUST; There is a new exhaust installed.  It is a dual pipe system that sounds excellent.

OVERVIEW;  This truck came from a well maintained home. It has had an older restoration which seemed oriented towards protecting the originality of the vehicle.  I purchased it in presentable shape and have done preservation work to the truck to insure it's longevity. This is a wonderful example of the post war era vehicles that graced America's farmlands.  This is a no issues parade ready truck that has immediate equity and drivability.

VALUE;  HAGERTY, KELLEY, NADA, have a high book value of $42,000.00.  Average book value is $17,900.00.  This truck is in Very Good Condition and should be worth in the mid-twenties.  I preserve and flip vehicles (30 years) so my reserve reflects a desire to find this truck a good home.  Bid with confidence.  This is a gem.

NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.

Ford F-450 claims best-in-class towing, company abandons practice of removing items to boost payload number

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

The ongoing heavy-duty truck battle between Ford and Ram is showing no signs of slowing down. The Blue Oval is trying to remove at least one point of contention between the two brands by testing its 2015 F-450 Super Duty using the Society of Automotive Engineers J2807 towing standard, which Ram also uses. In the new evaluation, the F-450 is rated at a max towing capacity of 31,200 pounds. That's an identical amount as under Ford's own, previous test.
"We leave no doubt with customers that the F-450 pickup truck has best-in-class towing of 31,200 pounds - whether tested using our own internal towing standards or SAE J2807," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president for Global Product Development, in the company's release.
At the same time, Ford is also changing how it calculates the F-450's payload. Instead of using its minimum curb weight as before, the brand is now using the truck's base curb weight. The revision lowers the pickup's rating to 5,300 pounds, compared to 5,450 pounds previously. The company said in its announcement that the reason for this is "aligning its payload rating practices with other manufacturers to make it easier for customers to compare vehicles." General Motors made a similar switch for its pickups in August.

Weekly Recap: Matthew McConaughey's star shines brightly for Lincoln

Sat, Jan 3 2015

The commercials were a little strange at first, but the ensuing spoofs were hilarious. And all jokes aside, Matthew McConaughey has made a difference for Lincoln. Advertisements starring the Oscar winner launched in September, and the results have been impressive. The number of customers clicking on Lincoln.com to check out the MKC – the crossover McConaughey pitched – has tripled since the ads began airing, a spokesman told Autoblog. They also generated 4.4 million views on YouTube and spawned parodies by Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O'Brien, South Park and Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live, which racked up another 15 million views. Most importantly, Lincoln's sales have increased 15 percent through November, helped significantly by the strong launch of the MKC. Without the addition of the MKC, Lincoln's sales would have been essentially flat last year. The MKC has received solid reviews from consumers and the press, though it has had several recalls. "The overwhelming response to the MKC campaign sparked truly great awareness for Lincoln," Andrew Frick, Lincoln group marketing manager, said in a statement. Now Lincoln has launched another round of spots, which kicked off New Year's Day during college football bowl games. This time, McConaughey is hawking the MKZ sedan and its hybrid sibling. The spots, called Diner and Balance, use the same artistic formula as the earlier ads, with McConaughey intoning seriously about the cars in dramatic settings. They were shot over two days in Los Angeles and were directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, a Danish filmmaker who directed the 2011 move, Drive. The ads continue Lincoln's multiyear deal with McConaughey, who has said he's been long been interested in the brand. He starred in the 2011 thriller, The Lincoln Lawyer, as a defense attorney who worked out of a Town Car, though that was before his deal with Lincoln. In one of the earlier ads, McConaughey claims: "I've been driving a Lincoln since long before anybody paid me to drive one. I didn't do it to be cool. I didn't to it to make a statement. I just liked it." That sentiment appears to have worked for the MKC's launch, and with this new advertising blitz, Lincoln hopes it carries over to the MKZ.
