Body:  Box has been shortened about 4" with floor removed to accommodate frame and suspension, included with the auction is a custom made (from Liquid Steel) recessed firewall not installed, the cab is in very good condition with the seat riser, there is some floor rust but the this section should be modified to accept the transmission tunnel, doors are complete and close well, cab corners have very little rust, dash is complete, original and uncut. The body is in the mock-up stage for fitting, hood hinges are new.

Interior: The interior is complete and unrestored, the original bench seat is included, some glass is cracked, the steering column is from a 49 Mercury.

Parts included but not shown: 2 air pumps, 4 solenoids, air tank, special build recessed firewall.

History: I bought this truck from a friend who ran into financial difficulties and was forced to sell it. We had hoped he would recover and be able to buy it back, but a year has gone by and he called and said that wasn't likely to happen. He spent over 30K getting it to this stage, he had no intention of doing paint or bodywork but everything else was going to be high end, and as a result the work done to this point is first class.

Location: The truck is located near Salmon Arm British Columbia a few hours from the Washington border. If the truck is sold to a US buyer I can help with the paperwork I've done it many times in the past, its not dificult

Shipping: I can help locate shipping however it takes a lot of time so I will not give shipping quotes during the auction and then only to the winning bidder.

Contact: You can email any questions or call me directly at 1-250-515-1110

Payment: Payment must be received within 4 days of the end of the auction in the form of cash when the truck is picked up, official bank check (must clear before delivery) or a bank wire transfer.

Overall: In my opinion this is one of the best looking rat rods I've seen, although not finished most of the hard and expensive work is done. I have a large classic car collection and I'm out of space otherwise I would finish it and keep it. I'm offering it unreserved with a low starting bid so if you want a great deal on a really neat rat rod this is your chance. The truck is for sale locally so I may end the auction early. There is no buy it now price but you can make an offer.

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands

Next Ford Mustang to drop 400 pounds

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

The Ford Mustang is already the lightest of the current crop of muscle cars, at around 3,600 pounds for a GT coupe with the six-speed manual transmission. That's almost 260 pounds less than a Chevrolet Camaro SS and about 450 pounds less than a Dodge Challenger R/T, which means the Mustang has a pretty big advantage when it comes to handling, braking, accelerating and economy. More good news: The next Mustang will be even lighter.
According to a report from Edmunds, the sixth-generation Mustang, which is set to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, will shed an additional 400 pounds of body fat. That 11-percent weight reduction will be thanks to lightweight materials, with a particular focus on using stronger, but less material in construction. Aluminum will feature heavily, but Edmunds' inside source warns that there is "nothing terribly exotic" coming to the original pony car.
The other big news is that the new Mustang will be smaller overall. It's going to be 15-inches shorter than the 188.5-inch Mustang on sale today, while it'll also be 6.5 inches narrower. Shorter overhangs, both in the front and rear, are also good signs for those that want an agile Mustang.

Ford invests $682 million in Edge-producing Canadian facility

Sun, 22 Sep 2013

Ford announced that it's investing $682 million in its Oakville assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, to make it a global manufacturing plant, which the automaker also says secures 2,800 jobs there. Including this injection of cash, Ford has invested over $2 billion in Canada in the last decade, starting with nearly $1 billion for Oakville in 2004, and over $570 million for its Essex Engine Plant in 2010.
The move to make Oakville a global manufacturer of Ford vehicles means, "If consumers suddenly shift their buying habits, we can seamlessly change our production mix without having to idle a plant," says Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas.
Ford says that the latest investment will help it meet North American demand for the Oakville-produced Edge crossover, which is on track this year to beat 2007's US sales record of 130,000 Edges. The Ford Flex and Lincoln MKX and MKT are also manufactured at the plant.
