1937 Ford Pickup

The cab of this '37 is all original steel. The bed is an exact reproduction of the original steel bed. The bumpers are also original.

The cab upholstery consists of bucket seats, door panels, headliner, and behind the seats area done in tan leather with the design coming from the floor of the truck bed. The cab has an AM/FM stereo with 4 speakers and a CD player.

The steering column is IDIT in chrome, tilt with a Grant wood grain steering wheel. The shifter in the floor is LOKAR mated to a C-4 automatic transmission, completely rebuilt.

The engine is a Ford 289 which was totally rebuilt. It was bored 30 thousands over and the crank 10 thousands under. It has flat-top pistons and a high-lift cam. The cam, chrome intake and 600 CFM carb were matched for performance.

The heads were modified with stronger valve springs, stainless and larger valves. The engine was balanced during the rebuilding process. It uses an electric radiator fan. The intake, valve covers, condenser, alternator and coil are all chrome.

The engine runs a V-belt system. Everything is either new or rebuilt and produces 300 HP. The radiator is copper and brass with a larger cap.

Heidts Mustang II style suspension with power disc brakes up front, power drums on the rear. A n 8-inch Ford differential was used with a 2.79 ratio.

The frame was completely detailed by fills, sanding and using PPG semi-gloss paint.

The ac/heat unit is hung under the dash with convenient controls, It has one electric wiper as the truck originally came with one wiper.

The dash gauges are all electric by Classic, they look and work great.

The exterior and interior green paint is PPG as is the exterior tan. The green is a 1973 Ford PU metallic green, the tan is a 1965 Plymouth color. The pinstriping was done free hand by a well known artist.

The wheels are polished aluminum from a Ranger PU, 15 x 7 front and rear.

The total mileage on the truck from 1937 is 62,810 miles, since restoration in 2004, 9,931 miles.

Aussie Ford Falcon GT shows its rear end to Lamborghini Gallardo

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

When Ford Australia announces, as it did recently, that it wants to celebrate the end of its Ford Performance Vehicle division with a Falcon FPV GT-F that celebrates big-bore origins of the nameplate, it's talking about the kind of car in this video.
At some point the classic Falcon GT - said to be an XY series - was invited to a test of acceleration against a Lamborghini Gallardo. At the very least, the Falcon GT had a 351 cubic-inch motor and 300 horsepower, but whatever this guy's got under the hood of his yellow sedan makes has him so confident that he doesn't even move his elbow from its resting place on the door.
You'll find a reminder of Ford Australia's heyday, a raucous exhaust note and some NSFW language in the short video below.

Ford announces four recalls, 1.4M vehicles affected

Thu, 29 May 2014

Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013.
Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though.
"Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software."

Ford decides C-Max shoppers not interested in fuel economy

Sat, Oct 25 2014

If you say a car – the Ford C-Max Hybrid, for example – is "fun to drive," can anyone really come up with some empirical evidence against your claim? What about calling it "versatile"? We wonder if Ford has been thinking along these lines when it talks about the green little hatch. Ford is refocusing its sales strategy for the C-Max Hybrid after the model took a sales hit on both sides of the Atlantic recently, Automotive News reports. That sales dropoff may stem from the fact that Ford has had to revise its fuel-economy figures downward for the C-Max twice since last year, most recently in June. That made the company's once-proud fuel-economy comparisons with the Toyota Prius kind of pointless. Ford is going a different route, calling the model versatile (which, to be fair it was also doing a year ago), technologically advanced and fun to drive. Since the C-Max has about 50 more horsepower than the Prius, that last part may be true. Ford representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen about the mpg-mention-free advertising direction, but we will update this post if we hear back. Sales of the C-Max Hybrid have suffered in the US. Through September, Ford sold 15,245 C-Max Hybrids, down 36 percent from last year. We shall see if a new focus away from the car's lowered mpg numbers helps. At least Ford can be pleased with sales of the C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid, which are up 51 percent compared to 2013.
