34 ford truck cab with matching grille in original red paint or whats left of it. It's in perfect rat rod condition with this patina. It's got very little overall rust as you can see but does have dents. Please look at the pic's and ask ?'s if you have them. The doors open and close but the driver side needs lower hinge work & bottoms need patch work, the passenger window post needs a small patch & the bottom passenger side cowl and the rest i'd leave it alone. This kind of stuff is to be expected, but way better then most! This is a really nice base to start with! The grille is in unbelievable condition! It's a cherry one. I have an old stop light and backup light I'll throw in the deal as well that I was saving for the project.

I also have a complete 1950 ford pickup flathead 8BA V8 with matching 3spd, the radiator, fan, & a new gm alt conversion bracket (no alt). This was sold to me by a 72 year old guy who told me it runs great! I've never fired it up as I was still collecting parts for this build. He was a very honest person and I believe him completely. The truck was fully restored and he was upgrading to a 390 thus the reason he sold it. The exact mileage is not known.

You will also get a model a rear cross member, a 34 ford rear crossmember, a very rough 39 ford frame (I'll cut out anything you may want at no extra charge if you only want parts off it). 34 ford 2dr, 36 ford 2dr, & 34 ford pickup stuff (see last pic).

You will also get a rusty 34 ford left frame rail cut and welded on (I was going to use it for a template to build a new frame but maybe you can use it to patch your frame or I'll just scrap it if you don't want it) I have some early 30's ford headlights that will go with this auction as well!!!!!! If I find anything else you'll get that too. This is very good deal for someone!!!!

I will never build this so it all needs to go. I will load it all up with my forklift and box up all the little items at no extra cost if your out of state. The cab is already on a pallet & the engine & trans are already on a pallet as well. I have more pic's just ask and I'll send them or i'll take some for you.

I won't be parting it out at this time so don't ask or call dibs. I will only part it out if it doesn't sell after this auction. The winner gets it all and what they don't want will belong to me and be sold at a later date! No discounts or exceptions. I want it all gone. I don't have a buy it now, but would consider adding one if someone is serious. Nothing below my starting bid will be accepted.

No zero feedback bidders! No exceptions! I reserve the right to end this auction or any bids at anytime! No scammers! I've heard it all over the years, so don't waste your typing skills on me!

Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car

Fri, Jan 6 2017

Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.

Ford 3D-printing Mustang out of chocolate and candy for Valentine's Day

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Is your beloved in love with the new 2015 Ford Mustang? Do they like chocolate (that's a trick question - everyone likes chocolate)? Are they a bit of a futurist? Then this Hallmark holiday, you need to get them this Ford Mustang, 3D-printed in sweet, delicious chocolate.
Ford is teaming with 3D Systems' Sugar Lab in LA to produce the super-accurate pony car confections in both chocolate and sugar candy varieties. The process kicked off with a CAD rendering of the 2015 Mustang, which was then programmed into the 3D printer. After a bit of work from the machine, a four-inch long, two-inch tall Mustang was the result. Why the tieup with 3D Systems, though?
"We wanted to create something fun to show that while 3D printing made these edible Mustangs, manufacturing-level 3D printing was used in the development of Ford's all-new sports car," said Paul Susalla, Ford's supervisor of 3D printing.
