Track Car - 1996 Mustang Gt With Many Upgrades (see Description) on 2040-cars
Saint Cloud, Florida, United States
For sale is
a 1996 Mustang GT, Dark Green color, that has been heavily modified for track
day, HPDE and SCCA Solo 1/2 use. It has seen many laps with Chin Motorsports,
SCCA and MCA at Sebring, Homestead, Roebling, Road Atlanta, and Virginia
International Raceway, as well as Solo 1 events in Gainesville, FL and many
Solo 2 events with SCCA Central Florida Region. The car has
only had 1 owner since late 1997 - me. I bought it completely stock, and have
selected and overseen all of the modifications, which are many and took place
over many years as I progressed the car from a daily driver to track-only use.
It has been stripped of a good deal of weight, upgraded in power, suspension
and stiffness, can burn through 1st and 2nd gears in full peel yet rip through
turns in the Sebring or Road Atlanta Esses like a tuned M3. Below is a list of
the performance upgrades this car currently has: Engine & Power: Superchips Red

side mounts Sparco 6-point harnesses Sparco Harness Bar Sparco 383 Competition Steering Wheel Carpet, rear seats, interior side panels in trunk, back seat and door panels all removed for weight Truth be told, I love this car, and wish I didn't need to sell it. Circumstances with family, work and finances and my free time are such that this thoroughly enjoyable track car has not actually been back to the track in several years, and I finally decided that it's better for someone else who wants to have a great deal of racing fun to take it and put it on the track again than to keep it sitting in the driveway, only turning over every couple of months to drive around the neighborhood. This car really wants to run. When I last had it tuned on a dyno and updated the Superchips Red chip, she put out 269 RWHP with 299 torque... and that was before many more upgrades and the weight removal, which now give even more effect to that power train. Instructors who rode in the right seat were impressed with the car on track - it's a nice HPDE sleeper, for sure. The car body does need a little exterior love: the Florida sun has finally gotten to the roof paint, and the outside curb of Turn 3 at Sebring took off my bumper splitter lip a few sessions before her last track day, so I sawed it off flat and ran without that little 2" lip the last few HPDEs I attended; I honestly didn't notice any difference. Minor scratches and dings from track day use are present, but overall the car looks great, and drives wonderfully - especially when you're pushing it. Note: this car is for sale locally as well, so please contact me to inquire about coming to see it. Since it's a track car that I've managed to keep tagged, I won't be willing to drive it to meet further than a mile away at the most - cops do tend to look harder at it with the low profile and obvious sound. Note: mileage listed above is approximate, as the odometer gear recently stopped suddenly. To see some more pictures of the car, view my Orlando (FL) Craigslist post here (opens in new tab/window). |

Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.
GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups
Mon, 14 Oct 2013General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.
Ford E-Series chassis cabs and cutaways to survive mass Transit onslaught
Fri, 18 Apr 2014In March 2013, Ford announced we'd be getting chassis cab and cutaway versions of the Transit. Since incoming Transit vans will soon be rolling over the grave of the E-Series van, it was assumed that all E-Series models would go six feet under as well. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, however, that's not the case, the report claiming that the highly modifiable E-350 and E-450 chassis cab and cutaway versions will continue being produced in Avon Lake, Ohio "at least until 2020."
Being decades old, the be-cabbed E-Series platform has found its way under an army of heavy-duty shuttle buses, work truck and ambulances. Ford spokeswoman Jessica Enoch verified the production horizon, telling Autoblog that the particular E-Series configuration "are a higher GVWR than the Transit chassis cab and cutaway (available this summer), which is more Class 2 and a new segment for us." So there you have it.
