I finally decided to sell my 1999 Mustang GT Convertible (35th Anniversary) instead of finishing it. I have two convertibles already and recently bought another project car so I need some space in my garage. Ford only made a little over 14,000 of these in this color and I'm sure most of them are already in the grave. Similar to all of the 1999 GT's, it has the anniversary badges on the fenders where the GT logo normally goes and it has the factory 17" wheels.
Here is a list of the cosmetic items:
- Leather interior is in good condition - no tears, rips, holes but Driver's seat does show some wear
- Interior is in good shape, carpet is reasonable but not perfect. Dash and console are in good shape, the interior door grab-handle inserts have the same issue everyone else has, they just come loose over the years because of the plastic clip design. No foul smells or anything, smells good and clean.
- Convertible top is in good shape, no rips or holes or anything - the glass in the back is clear and solid. The canvas edge-trimming is showing some small signs of wear from having the top down, but hardly noticeable. Top goes up and down without stalling or binding and fits nice and tight
- Paint & Clearcoat has a great shine, I've cut it and buffed it to help bring out some shine with a very mild polish so there is still a lot more gloss that could be buffed up. It looks like it was resprayed since the factory paint, it's too glossy to be original
- New headlights (old lights were just fogged beyond repair when I bought it)
- New Taillights (one of them was cracked when I bought it so I a bought new set)
- Tires have well over 70% left on them
Here is the list of mechanical items:
- Stock 4.6 SOHC engine
- Automatic transmission w/overdrive and traction control
- New valve seals and valve keepers (they were shot when I bought it)
- New valve springs
- New valve gaskets and timing cover gasket
- New IAC valve
- New K&N Cold Air intake kit
- Aftermarket exhaust with a nice deep rumble (H-pipe layout)
- New fuel injectors
- New Coil-On plug boots and factory-recommended plugs
- New timing chains and tensioners
- New battery
- Has the redesigned metal coolant cross-over on the intake manifold - Ford recalled a bunch of these when the original cheap plastic cross-overs kept breaking
- Unfortunately for me, cylinder #1 is just not holding good compression and has a misfire. I've spent enough already and I'm done, I'm in too deep on this one already to put any more money in it. I don't know what's wrong with it, might be a cheap fix or might be expensive - but I'm not spending any more time or money on it. The car books out around $7,500 so there should be plenty of room to buy it and fix it.
I would not personally consider the car road safe, with the low compression on cylinder #1 it has a terrible misfire. The buyer will need to trailer the car home or have it shipped and I can work with the buyer to make arrangements to get it shipped - it's not that expensive and well worth it.
Let me know if you have any questions, I try to answer messages in the evenings so give me a little time and I'll respond. If I see anyone bidding with a feedback of less than 5 I'll be cancelling your bid unless you contact me first. Also, if you don't pay when you win you're only ruining it for everyone else - so don't bid if you don't have the cash. Title is in-hand and clear, I'm ready to take a loss and move on so bid to win!
****** I also have it for sale locally *******

Ford opens the doors on its Swedish rally skunkworks
Fri, 19 Sep 2014It's always amazing to see how different kinds of racecars are made. Formula One racers are often constructed in modern architectural marvels that hint at some of the cutting-edge technology going into the racing. Conversely, rallying is all about sliding around on a varied course as fast as possible, but it often leaves a vehicle caked in mud. So it makes some sense Olsbergs MSE, or simply (OMSE) rally car shop in Nynashamn, Sweden, shows technological sophistication in a more down-to-earth setting. It builds Ford Fiesta ST racers for Global Rallycross there, and this new video gives viewers a tour through the work.
Former rally driver Andreas Eriksson runs OMSE. These days instead of racing, he and the company's 46 employees are building Ford racers from scratch. A ton of work goes into constructing each one, and according to Eriksson, it takes 400 hours to complete each body. At times, things are so busy that some of the technicians live in the shop in apartments that are on premises. There's even a restaurant to keep them fed. Sadly the dyno room is empty during this visit, though.
By the time OMSE is done, a rallycross car might resemble a Fiesta ST on the outside, but as you see in the video, it's a completely different beast underneath. Check out the work it takes to build one of them, and scroll down to read more about it in the official release.
Ford of India in hot water for Figo celebrity bondage ads
Fri, 22 Mar 2013Apparently sensibilities in India, at least in the case of some Ford marketing partners, are downright lascivious at times. Case in point are a new series of print ads, presumably touting the vast cargo capacity of the Ford Figo hatchback, that involve more than a whiff of T&A, S&M and other sexy abbreviations.
In all seriousness, the advertising campaign is taking some major heat in the Indian press for being outrageously sexist. All three images - which seem to be produced by a graphic artist with some Heavy Metal work in his/her portfolio - show bound and gagged people stuffed into the Figo's boot. With a tagline reads, "Leave Your Worries Behind." one version features a peace-sign throwing Silvio Berlusconi holding hostage three buxom and barely clad women, all wearing ball gags with hands and feet bound. Charming. Another version shows Paris Hilton similarly kidnapping a trio of Kardashians, while a third (tame in terms of the clothing at least), has Michael Schumacher toting Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton.
Clearly in bad taste, at least, the Indian source also questions the timing of these risqué Ford ads, as the follow by days new anti-rape legislation passed by the Indian Parliament. Ford has responded in a statement, that it and its advertising partner (JWT India) "deeply regret" the ads, and claim that they "never should have happened."
Mustang driver proves wheels are overrated
Mon, 21 Apr 2014We don't need to tell you that there's something missing in the image above. What we do need to tell you is that this is not a picture of a parked car stranded on the highway. This is, rather, just one frame from video of that three-wheeled Mustang traveling down the highway at highway-appropriate speed.
We don't know where you'd have to be nor how badly you'd have to be there to go shooting down the freeway in a car with three wheels, but if the New Daily News is correct, that place is somewhere in Texas. The video's short, but you'll have plenty of time to shake your head at it by just scrolling down.
