Up for auction is our 2007 SHELBY HERTZ convertible. The car was sold in Florida on 5/29/08 by Hertz Surplus to a dealer here in Southern California. We purchased the car on 11/07/08 with 15,603 miles on it. The car was for my wife to drive as a second car. Yes, my wife! I have a '67 GT 500 that she wanted to go cruising in. NO WAY!! The car has been kept in our garage since we bought it and except for the stripes, the car is in great condition. The Hertz Gold stripes have some "Yellowing" spots from weather. It's our understanding that ALL cars with the vinyl stripes have this problem. We replaced the stripes shortly after we bought the car and thought about painting them on but decided to keep the car original. The top is in perfect condition along with the interior. The exterior paint has a few small chips in the paint from its rental days but NO dents or dings. As you can see, the car has been signed by Carroll himself! Well, not really. We did ad this vinyl sticker of Carroll Shelby's signature in the correct GOLD color on each side of the car before the last show we had it in. Our plan was to remove it after the show, but since it was a big hit, we left it on. It will peel right off if you don't want it. Everything on this car works!! The car has 23,626 miles on it now and we replaced the tires about 2 years ago. I am trying to locate the paperwork. We have all the service records and the original rental keys with the Hertz key tags, convertible top boot cover, original dash ID tag, some Hertz items (cup, note pad, etc.). Car can be inspected with an appointment here in Torrance, California. I will be happy to email you pictures of whatever angle you want.
Buyer is responsible for arranging pick up and all transportation fees. A $2000 deposit is required within 48 hours of auctions end. Balance can be paid by cashier's check or cash within 10 days of auctions end. All cashier's checks must clear! Car will continue to be stored in our garage for up to 30 days.
As I stated, I own a 1967 GT 500 that I bought in 1976. I paid $2,500 for it! These cars not only hold their value, but increase over the years and are a lot of fun to drive. Every time we take one out, we meet new people and make new friends! We are in NO hurry to sell this car and we have set our reserve based on what they are selling for around the country in this condition with this mileage. Good Luck!!

Britain orders 10,000 ventilators from F1/McLaren/Mercedes/Ford/Rolls-Royce/Airbus
Mon, Mar 30 2020Paramedics and ambulance personnel get instructions from a command unit outside London's ExCel Centre arena, which is being turned into a 4,000 bed temporary hospital called NHS Nightingale to deal with coronavirus patients. The hospital is due to open Monday, March 30. / AP Â Â LONDON — Britain has ordered 10,000 ventilators from a consortium of leading aerospace, engineering and Formula One racing companies which will start production this week in response to an urgent government call for industry to help save lives. The 27-strong team, including Airbus, BAE Systems, Ford and Rolls-Royce, have joined forces to ramp up production of a ventilator made by Smiths Group, which supports those with complications from COVID-19. The consortium, which also includes seven Formula One teams including McLaren and Mercedes, home to World Champion Lewis Hamilton, said they had pulled staff off existing projects to meet the national need. Some 1,228 people have died from coronavirus in the United Kingdom and a senior health official said on Saturday the country would be doing well if it manages to keep the death toll below 20,000. "This consortium brings together some of the most innovative companies in the world," Dick Elsy, the head of the consortium, said in a statement. "I am confident this consortium has the skills and tools to make a difference and save lives." The United Kingdom, which initially only had 5,000 ventilators available in its National Health Service, has been trying to secure additional supplies after realising it needed 30,000 to cope with the peak of the outbreak. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is now in isolation in Downing Street after testing positive for coronavirus, made an emergency appeal earlier this month for manufacturers to retool their production lines and start making specialist health equipment including ventilators. Britain now has about 8,000 ventilators, with another 8,000 on order from international manufacturers that are due in coming weeks. Last week it placed an order for a newly-designed model from the vacuum cleaner company Dyson that will need to be approved by the health regulator. Mercedes part of a separate effort, too Separately on Monday a second consortium including Mercedes Formula One and other F1 teams said it had developed in less than a week a new version of a breathing aid that can help coronavirus patients.

Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects
Thu, 16 May 2013Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.
