Here for your consideration is a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 in the rare Candy Apple Red exterior with Red interior combination. It is equipped with a great running "M" code 351 4V engine and the infamous toploader 4-speed transmission. It also has power steering, power disc brakes, factory tachometer, and fold down rear seat. As you can see from the photos, this car is very original and unaltered under the hood. The carb is the original 4300 and works great with no leaks. It can set for months at a time and cranks easily. This car is running and driving quite well now. I drive it locally. When I got the car, the only major component not working was the charging system. I installed a voltage regulator and alternator and it performs flawlessly now. The power steering operates smoothly as do the power brakes. It has a Hurst shifter in place of the original. This car needs a complete restoration, but since you can drive the car, you know that the mechanicals are all good and working. It has the typical Mustang rust issues to be addressed as follows: floor pan repair, lower door corners, taillight panel, trunk dropoffs, lower door corners, lower quarters behind wheels. The torque boxes are solid on the bottoms with only the ends needing to be fixed. Front frame rails are good, right rear rail is good, left rail has a bit of swelling that needs to be fixed, but is not bad enough to affect safety of driving the car. The pictures should give you a good idea of the condition of this car. This Mach 1, with it's rare color combo is definitely worth the time and effort required to restore. It is a car that you can also enjoy while you restore it. The original Mach 1 14" wheels were on the car when I got it, but the tires were bad, so I put these 15" Magnum 500 wheels with BF Goodrich radials on it to drive. You can have either set of tires and wheels, but only one set is included with the auction. Here is the door data tag information:

Ford wins second consecutive International Van of the Year award with Transit Connect
Wed, 18 Sep 2013The redesigned 2014 Ford Transit Connect isn't even on sale yet, but it's already making its presence felt around the world. At a commercial vehicle expo in Russia, the Transit Connect was named the International Van of the Year.
Ford's small work van edged out the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter by just seven points to allow Ford to grab this honor for the second consecutive year, which it won last year with the Transit Custom. Not only does this make Ford the first to ever win the award in back-to-back years, but it's also the fifth time the automaker has won this award since 2003 (two with the Transit Connect, two with the fullsize Transit and once with the Transit Custom). Ford congratulates itself for the accomplishment in a press release posted below.
Ford bumped by Amazon in best-perceived brand list
Mon, 20 Jan 2014Back in July, a mid-year study from YouGov found Ford to have higher brand perception than any other company in the US. While Ford failed to top the year-end study, it still has plenty to brag about. The final BrandIndex report shows that online retail giant Amazon edged out Ford for the top ranking, while Subway, the History Channel and Lowe's rounded out the top five spots.
For Ford, it's still an improvement from sixth place in the 2012 study, and, more importantly, it dominated other automakers in terms of brand perception with a clear advantage over Toyota, Honda, Chevy and Volkswagen. To determine how well - or not so well - a brand is perceived, YouGov uses a Buzz score that asks respondents whether they've "heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth" and whether it was positive or negative. While it isn't clear how many respondents were included, YouGov does point out that Ford had a strong presence in social media, advertising and newsworthy toward the end of the year.

Autoblog joins Elon Musk and Danica Patrick in accepting ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Tue, 19 Aug 2014Unless you've been living in an off-the-grid cabin in the woods for the last couple of weeks or abstain entirely from social media activities, you've probably seen someone you know dump a bucket of ice and water over their own head recently. While the origins of the so-called Ice Bucket Challenge are shrouded in a history typical of Internet memes, its effectiveness in raising money and awareness for the ALS Association has been astonishing.
Celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, sports, technology and more have generated untold millions of video views in support of the organization that is helping patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease), and generated a much needed influx of cash, as well. Recent reports have some $15.6M raised in the last two weeks.
Of course, the big-hearted world of automotive celebrities has taken part in the drenching charity effort as well. Follow on below for some of the biggest names on four wheels getting iced for charity, with a smattering of your favorite Autobloggers thrown in for good measure.
