Ford Mustang Mach 1 on 2040-cars
New Russia, New York, United States
Up for sale is a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Q Code 428 4 Speed Cobra Jet. As we all know the 1969 Mustang Mach 1 is a legend in muscle car history. This particular car maintains many of its original parts and is extremely solid as you can tell from the photos. VIN BREAKDOWN: 9T02Q171958 9 - 1969 T - Built at Metuchen 02- Mustang 2-Door Sportsroof Q - 428-4V Cobra Jet Non-Ram Air Engine 171958 - Serial Number Door Plate Information: 63C - Mustang Mach 1 2-Door Sportsroof T5 - Candy Apple Red Paint with black-out hood treatment 3A - Black Clarion Knit/Vinyl Mach 1 Hi-Back Bucket Seats 06B - Buffalo Ordering District S - 3.50 Traction-Lok Rear Axle 6 - Four-Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission This Mach 1 is a Marti Report confirmed original Q Code vehicle and it is equipped with its original, matching number, VIN stamped (9T171958), 428 Cobra Jet engine. It has the correct RUG-AE2 4 Speed Toploader Manual Transmission and 3.50 Traction-Lok Rear Axle. It is painted in the correct Candy Apple Red exterior paint with the black-out hood treatment. It has the black knit interior, which is in very nice shape. The original Philco AM Radio is present and works properly. The dash pad has recently been replaced with a new Ford Tooling dash pad and is perfect. All the gauges work properly. The odometer reads 14,297. It is believed to be 114,297 on the body but all the driving components are new or refurbished. The Cobra Jet engine has been professionally rebuilt within the last two months. The cylinders have been bored .040 over and new cast iron pistons have been installed. The original Cobra Jet Heads have been rebuilt. All the seals and gaskets have been replaced and the water pump has been rebuilt. It has a new power steering unit and all four shocks have been replaced. The correct C9AF-9510-M List 4279 Holley Carburetor has been refinished, rebuilt, and professionally tuned to the stock settings. The Q Code Air Cleaner Assembly was sent out to Semo Mustang and professionally refurbished by Jeff Sneathen. The tires are like new and have less than 500 miles on them. The original Space Saver Spare is still present in the trunk with the original, unused, compressed air can. This is a three-owner car. According to the Deluxe Marti Report (which will be included with the sale) this Mustang is 1 of 9 with the options it possesses. The gentleman I bought it from had the car passed down to him by his father who bought it from the original owner. According to the gentleman’s father the original owner bought the car in February of 1969. He brought the car in for a service later that year and the dealership had a Boss 429 on the sales floor. The original owner loved the hood style of the boss 429 and within the next few years he replaced the original Q Code hood with a Boss 429 hood. When I purchased the car I originally had planned on putting the original hood back on the car because the car has so many original parts. After working on the car and seeing how nice the Boss 429 hood looked and how well it was painted I decided to keep the hood on the car as a nod to the original owner’s style. Being that both hood scoops are non-functional as there is no Ram Air set up on the Q Code model I decided to leave well enough alone. I took the time as I was restoring the engine bay and rebuilding the motor to photograph all the numbers and date codes on the engine parts to document the motors originality. As you can tell from the date codes the Engine / Heads / Intake they were all manufactured within 10 days of each other in January of 1969. As stated earlier the partial VIN number is stamped on the back of the block and it is also present on the driver’s side head (the stamping is very faint on the head but it is there). The body and paint on this car is very nice. The paint has some very minor flaws that are consistent with any vehicle that is driven and not treated like a trailer queen. It is easily an 8 out of 10 paint job and this car will turn heads anywhere you go. The current average market on these 1969 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jets is approximately $52,000 according to Hagerty, which is based on current auction results that have been obtained over the past few months.

Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply
Sat, 15 Jun 2013The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.
Black Zombie electric Mustang launches Blood Shed Motors [w/videos]
Thu, Jun 19 2014As patient zero of Blood Shed Motors, the classic pony car has received a powerful electric transplant. Lightning repeatedly vanquished the darkness like the angriest of strobe lights and thunder shook the building, punctuating the clatter of a heavy Texas rain on the metal roof as the clock ticked away the initial seconds of a rare full moon Friday the 13th. It was then that the Black Zombie came to life for the first time. Beneath the hood of this rust-free 1968 Mustang fastback, a 289-cubic-inch V8 no longer turns gasoline into heat, noise and pollution. As patient zero of Blood Shed Motors, the classic pony car has received a powerful electric transplant, and now boasts twinned Warp 11 DC motors and a pair of fresh Zilla controllers that will serve as the basic blueprint for future vehicles. Dubbed the Zombie 222 drivetrain, the setup will be limited to 750 horsepower in customer's cars to keep the maintenance experience low, and eventually will draw power from a 40-kWh battery pack. In this first example, though, the output is bit more extreme. For one day, at least, they have the 1,500-kW-capable pack that powers the record-setting Swamp Rat 37 racer belonging to Don Garlits and a brief window of opportunity to try it out on a track. Blood Shed Motors is the result of a collaboration between NEDRA co-founder John "Plasma Boy" Wayland, the man who helped bring electric vehicle drag racing to the attention of the world with his unassuming White Zombie Datsun 1200 conversion and Austin, TX business man Mitch Medford, who've put together a small team of experts in their chosen fields. The plan is to build a limited number of muscle car conversions on pristine early Mustang, Camaro, and Barracuda platforms. The plan is to build a limited number of high-quality muscle car conversions on pristine (No restored rust buckets!) early Mustang, Camaro, and Barracuda platforms. Each can be customized according to buyer's wishes and blessed with its own serial number. The price tags will be in the eye-watering $200,000-and-up neighborhood, reflective of the cost and rarity of these cars and the custom nature of the alterations. Of course, you can't just multiply horsepower and add the monster torque that these electric motors put out and expect an antique chassis to hold up.
Weekly Recap: Volvo buys Polestar, makes performance a priority
Sat, Jul 18 2015Volvo is taking its performance business in-house, and the Swedish carmaker announced Tuesday that it bought tuning company Polestar, which has long been known for producing sporty Volvos. The move allows Volvo to ramp up its performance business, and it plans to increase Polestar-branded vehicle sales to 1,000 to 1,500 annually, up from the 750 total projected for this year. The companies have been working together on motorsports projects since 1996. Financial terms of the sale were not released, and Polestar workers will move over to Volvo. Former Polestar owner Christian Dahl will keep control of the Polestar racing team and operate it under a new name. In addition to sales volume, Volvo has ambitious plans for other parts of Polestar, including its aftermarket business. Volvo also said it will use its twin-engine hybrid technology for Polestar models in the future, though specifics and timing were not revealed. Meanwhile, Volvo announced it will offer a run of 265 total Polestars in the United States for the 2016 model year, with S60 and V60s available. "Driving a Volvo Polestar is a special experience. We have decided to bring this experience to more Volvo drivers, placing the full resources of Volvo behind the development of Polestar as the model name for our high performance cars," Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, get nose jobs Automakers tend to refer to light updates as 'facelifts,' and that's exactly what Chevy gave the 2016 Silverado and GMC Sierra. Chevy slightly changed the front end of the truck. Using the one photo released of the new Z71 model as a guide, we can see that the headlights went from a stacked vertical design to single bulbs, and they are set on top of LED running lights. The grille has more body-colored elements instead of shiny metal, and the hood has a new line running down the middle (look really closely). The design theme will be similar across the portfolio, though materials and details will vary, a spokesman said. Some models, like the High Country and LTZ will have more chrome, and the LEDs are only for the upper trims. Chevy also said it will use the eight-speed automatic transmission on more versions of the Silverado, and it updated the MyLink feature to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
