Ford Mustang Coupe on 2040-cars
New York, New York, United States
1966 Mustang Coupe for sale, very nice condition. Ready for the next phase in it's lifeBeen used as a daily driver in new york, I have enjoyed the car, made repairs and restorations where needed but it has come to the point where the next bit of repairs teeter on resto jobs. I offer this beautiful car to the enthusiast interested. Car has an unmatching six cylinder engine that seems to have been pulled from a '69 falcon, it has been reliable and starts every time. It has been maintained as needed for daily use and has had the oil changed regularly, but due to its age has begun to burn a little oil. The transmission is a c4 "green dot" transmission that was rebuilt in 2013 by a local transmission shop. At that time an external transmission fluid cooler was installed. I have the receipt for that. Car has four wheel drum brakes that I replaced when I purchaced it as well as replacing all four brake cylinders and shoes/springs. The fuel tank and gas gauge sending unit were also replaced. The tank was painted with a bed liner to keep it from rusting and also to keep items in the trunk from rolling about. body is in very good shape but some of the body work is showing wear due to weather and usage. I have included pictures of these areas. The floor boards are intact as are the rear spring supports. The leaf springs and shackles were replaced last summer. The heater core sprang a leak last summer onto the front carpet so it was "jumped" out. The car wasn't driven last winter, only started in the driveway. Radio is a cd player.Front seats have no seat belts, they were still an option in 1966 but the back seat has belts so the kids can enjoy. Drivers side door latch doesn't match mechinism. I've always just used it anyway and placed it next to me afterwards.

Cadillac ELR, Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas win Eyes on Design awards
Fri, 18 Jan 2013This year's annual Eyes on Design awards were presented at the end of press days for the Detroit Auto Show on Tuesday. Given out for the best production and concept car designs that debuted at the show, and voted on by an esteemed panel of actual car designers, this year's award for best production vehicle design went to the 2014 Cadillac ELR. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, which was the show favorite among Autoblog editors, apparently did not impress the Eyes on Design judges enough with its all-new vent-festooned design.
The award for best concept design was actually split as a tie among the Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas concepts. Last year's winners were the 2013 Ford Fusion and the Lexus LF-LC concept.
The Eyes on Design organization also presented a new honor this year called the Catalyst Award to Bob Lutz, former Vice Chairman of General Motors. Lutz is reported to have given a defense of design in his acceptance speech, arguing that advancements in quality across the industry as a whole have made good design a key differentiator for buyers.
Formula Drift kicks off 11th season on Streets of Long Beach
Tue, 08 Apr 2014The 2014 Formula Drift series kicked off last weekend in Long Beach, and saw Chris Forsberg, who you'll recall went mad and drifted around a warehouse in an Infiniti M, take the title behind the wheel of his Hankook Tire Nissan 370Z (shown above).
Forsberg really ran away with the first round of competition, outscoring his closest opponent, second-place finisher Kenneth Moen and his Bridges Racing Nissan 240SX, by 20 points. Third place was 2013 championship winner Michael Essa and his Yokohama BMW M3, 30.5 points behind Forsberg.
In the manufacturers' title, Nissan took an early lead with 122 points, which isn't a huge surprise considering five of the top ten drifters were piloting either a Z or a product of the brand's S platform. Ford, which had two drivers (Justin Pawlak and Vaughn Gittin, Jr.) in the top ten, took home second place, while BMW is currently third in the manufacturers' standings.
This unique '64 Mustang was Edsel Ford II's first car
Thu, 02 Jan 2014You probably had the same dream when you were a teenager. Your sixteenth birthday is coming up, or Christmas, or maybe both, and all you want is a muscle car to call your own. That dream has come true for some, and one of them was none other than Edsel Ford II.
Henry Ford's great grandson turned 16 on December 27, 1964 - two days after Christmas and eight months after the original Mustang went on sale. And that's just what was waiting for him in the driveway, courtesy of his father (and reigning chief executive) Henry Ford II.
The specially-prepared pony car had a pearlescent cream paintjob with narrow blue racing stripes, functional hood scoop, chrome trim, Euro-spec fender-mounted mirrors, a blue leather and aluminum interior, a monogrammed fuel cap... and a 289-cubic-inch V8 under the hood.
