It is a drivable project."

After 15 years of being hidden away in a Minnesota barn, this 1967 Mustang GT-A is once again experiencing life in the sunshine! Manufactured for one year only (1967) the GT-A was simply the Automatic Transmission version of the GT.  This one was ordered in Lime Gold with the Ivy Gold 2-tone vinyl interior.  It featured the 390 / 4bbl, power steering, power brakes, AM Radio, Console, C-6 Automatic Transmission, Courtesy Light Group and Tinted Glass.  All the lights work, the radio works, the wipers, heater, speedo/odo and AM Radio all work. While she's not perfect, I believe this car is an ideal candidate for restoration.  The body is remarkably straight and the car is virtually complete. The floor pans, torque boxes and shock towers are clean, dry and solid.  The interior is in remarkably good condition...I believe the front bucket seats have been re-covered in original color vinyl and the back seat, door panels, headliner and carpeting are all original.

I found this long-hidden gem in April of 2013.  After loading the car onto a trailer and bringing her home, I removed the gas tank, had it acid-washed, installed a new gas gauge sending unit, flushed the fuel lines from the tank to the carburetor, installed a new fuel filter and had it running in 15 minutes.  After a few minutes of idling in neutral, the transmission began to work and within an hour or so, I was able to drive the car around the block.  We've since changed oil and filter, done a full tune-up and replaced a brake line, a power steering hose and the starter just to be able to drive it a bit.

The Good:  The car is very straight and nearly complete.  It has minimal rust (for a 50 year old car) and the structural components are very solid.  It is driveable (wouldn't attempt a cross-country trek with her quite yet) and looks great from 50 feet!  All the lights work, the radio, wipers, speedo/odo and heater work, it has good (radial) tires and, best of all, it was originally built with the most desirable engine available...the 390 4bbl.  Because it smelled of moth balls and mouse poop, I removed the seats, removed the carpet, pressure washed the carpet, thoroughly dried it and re-assembled everything.  It is now reasonably pleasant to sit in!  The sheet metal is remarkably straight as are the bumpers and chrome trim...also, all the glass is in great shape.  Based on the overall condition of the car and the fact that the odometer works, I believe that the actual mileage on the car is only 108,121 (obviously, I have no way to prove it).

The Reality:  While the car might impress your neighbors just sitting in your driveway, it really is a total project.  There is bondo in the rocker panels and around the drivers-side rear wheel well and the car has been re-painted.  There is some cancer in the driver's side door jamb as well as small holes in one floor pan and a 3"-4" hole through the floor of the trunk.  The original kick-panels and sill plates are missing.  The headliner has a hole (mice) above the passengers visor and the original carpet is faded.  The steering is loose, the brake light is on (brakes work but require a lot of leg), and the transplanted 302 engine is only running on 7 cylinders (#4 Cylinder has no compression).

I want you to be completely confident when bidding on this car...if you have ANY questions or concerns, or simply want to arrange a test-drive or inspection, call me (Jon) at 701 840 8038 and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

We will accommodate you or your shipper in any way we can to get the car to you...please CHECK MY FEEDBACK and bid with confidence...NO DISAPPOINTMENTS HERE!!

Recharge Wrap-up: Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive is a rock star, FedEx tests electric trucks

Thu, Oct 2 2014

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is in a new music video for I Lived by OneRepublic. The band's singer, Ryan Tedder, has also been brought on as a brand ambassador for the German automaker. OneRepublic will also be performing the song at the Mercedes-Benz Media Night on the eve of the Paris Motor Show. No word if Mercedes plans to offer hordes of screaming teenage fans as an option package with the B-Class Electric Drive. See the video (the car shows up around the four-minute mark) or read more in the press release below. FedEx is testing converted electric delivery trucks with diesel range extenders. Looking to shrink its carbon footprint, the company has converted a handful of trucks as part of a pilot program. In addition to battery packs, each truck is equipped with diesel turbine generators (supplied by Ian Wright's company, Wrightspeed) to provide electricity when the battery is depleted. Because the diesel motors aren't powering the vehicle directly, they can continuously run at their most efficient speed, making the trucks about twice as efficient as those powered by traditional means. Read more at Wired. Ford's new aluminum-bodied F-150 will be 5 to 20 percent more efficient, the company says. The fuel economy gains depend on the particular version of the truck, but the biggest improvement will likely come from the 3.5-liter V6 and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6. Automotive News predicts the F-150 SFE to be rated at 21 mpg city/28 highway/23 combined, which are identical figures to the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. The result could be a noteworthy fuel economy battle between Ford and Ram trucks. Learn more at Automotive News. The US Department of Energy is providing $25 million in funding toward reducing the price of algal biofuels. The goal is to get the price of these renewable fuels below $5 per gasoline gallon equivalent (gge) by 2019, and less than $3 per gge by 2030. The money will fund projects to develop better algal cultures that produce biofuel and other useful bioproducts, and projects to boost biomass productivity. The DOE says it wants to help develop a "bioeconomy" that provides jobs, helps the environment and ensures energy security. Read more at Energy.gov. This content is hosted by a third party. Ford gives S-Max the Vignale treatment in Milan

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

Ford has a bit of a history in reviving the names of old coachbuilders it has long since gobbled up and using them to distinguish its top-of-the-line models in Europe. That's what it did for years with Ghia, and after having replaced it several years ago with the Titanium trim level, now it's doing it again with Vignale.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Ford revealed the Mondeo Vignale concept in both sedan and wagon body-styles, which are set to reach production next year. But before they do, the Blue Oval automaker is at it again, applying similar upgrades to the S-Max minivan and unveiling it in concept form in Milan this week.
Setting the Vignale concept apart from any other S-Max is its Milano Grigio rose-hued silver pearlescent paint, 21-inch alloys, chrome trim and hexagonal-pattern grille. Inside it's all ultra-soft quilted leather and aluminum trim, with tablet docking stations in the back and thinner, more flexible seats than the existing production version.

Ford reserving 50th Anniversary Mustangs for service members

Tue, Dec 16 2014

Think getting your hands on one of the 1,964 50th Anniversary Ford Mustangs is hard as a civilian? Imagine how tough it might be for the Mustang fanatics in our nation's military. Perhaps recognizing this fact, Ford Emerging Market Services and the Overseas Military Sales Corporation (the only Ford-authorized retailer on the military's bases) ran a raffle, with the winners receiving the opportunity to purchase one of the limited-edition muscle cars. Ford EMS and OMS received 300 entries to the raffle, although with only eight 50th Anniversary Stangs to hand out, we imagine there were quite a lot of disappointed soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. "We are pleased to offer limited-edition anniversary Mustangs to members of our military through our Military Appreciation Program, and we are delighted at the response it's receiving," Doug Walczak, EMS' fleet sales manager, said. The first Mustang was delivered to Army Maj. Del Boyer, shown above. While Maj. Boyer took delivery in New York, the raffle was open to servicemembers both at home and abroad.
