2004 Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary Edition. Amazing shape, PW,PS,PL, Ice cold air. Sumitomo tires with 80% tread. Exterior of car is in great shape with ONE small ding (noted in picture) and small cover up on fender. Car does have prior salvage title due to an extremely minor front end collision that set off the air bags. I have pictures of the car before any work was done to show just how light the accident was. I had all of the work done by Autobody Pros in Cedar Falls. The frame was unscathed and needed a front bumper cover and headlights (fender repainted). The interior is in very good shape with no rips or tears in the cloth seats. The driver airbag is slightly faded and needs to be plugged in so this does mean the air bag light is on in the dash. No other "dummy lights" are on. The car has 74,XXX original miles and is NOT driven daily. Looking for $6750 or REASONABLE offers. MY name is Jake and I can be reached at (319) 415-8774

I reserve the right to end this auction at any time as this car is for sale locally. I WILL NOT SHIP... Thanks!

70% of pickups could use aluminum by 2025

Wed, 11 Jun 2014

In the next decade, the auto industry will see an explosion in its use of aluminum to cut weight and increase fuel economy, according to a study from market analysts Ducker Worldwide cited by The Detroit News. We are already seeing the lightweight metal show up extensively in luxury models from Europe, but with the impending launch of aluminum-intensive 2015 Ford F-150 (pictured above), North America is using it even more, as well. The report predicts 70 percent of US pickups to have aluminum bodies by 2025.
It won't just be pickups that see the benefit, though. The average amount of aluminum in US vehicles is forecasted by the study to grow from an average of 350 pounds in 2013 to about 550 pounds by 2025. The most common parts to use it will be hoods, doors and - to some extent - roofs, as well.
The massive increase in pickups' aluminum content hardly seems surprising. The F-150 is predicted to use so much that it might cause a short-term shortage, according to one earlier report. At the same time General Motors is heavily rumored to be negotiating with suppliers for the next generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Ram is the last holdout of the Big Three, but the study predicts that not to last.

James Franco and tiger tease Ford Super Bowl commercial

Sat, 01 Feb 2014

Ford has just released a teaser for its Super Bowl ad, and unlike just about every other automaker, it seems that the Blue Oval is going to make us wait until Sunday to see the full spot. The teaser is, um, strange.
It stars James Franco, who believes he is Ron Riggle, the comedian, Fox NFL Sunday host and retired Marine lieutenant colonel. There's also a tiger. The vague spot has Franco claiming that "this is no ordinary commercial." You'll note on the bottom right, there's a Ford logo and the hashtag #nearlydouble.
According to Automotive News, it's part of a massive viral effort being pushed forward by Ford and its dealerships. Ford sent different teasers and "vignettes" to dealership employees and asked them to share them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in the hopes of creating a viral effect.

Ford builds one-off 50th anniversary Mustang Convertible for charity

Thu, 08 May 2014

At the New York Auto Show this year, Ford revealed a special-edition Mustang to honor the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples will be made, all of them fixed-roof coupes. But the Blue Oval automaker has just announced that it's also building a single 50 Years edition convertible that it will raffled off for charity.
The first production example of the new Mustang Convertible to roll off the line this fall, this one-off will pack many of the features on the 50 Years coupe, including its white paintjob, chrome trim, aluminum dashboard, two-tone upholstery, contrast stitching, special 19-inch wheels and special-edition badging throughout.
This unique cabrio will also be fitted with a special performance pack including Pirelli PZero rubber, Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential to help get the 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque from the 5.0-liter V8 through the six-speed manual transmission and down to the road. It'll also feature a serial plaque with the number 0001 of 0001 and chairman Bill Ford's signature.
