Designed, Engineered, and handcrafted to up the ante in the world of Mustang performance, this 2014 Steeda Certified GT500 Wide-Body Conversion is the latest offering from the Design and Performance Teams at Steeda Autosports.

Providing an extremely aggressive appearance, this one-of-one wide-body conversion is not only sinister looking in it’s appearance, but it also provides the opportunity to dramatically increase the wheel/tire size so as to provide dramatically increased traction – something desperately needed when over 700 wild horsepower is unleashed on the unsuspecting asphalt.

We started with a brand new 2014 GT500 with the supercharged 5.8L modular V8 and loaded it up with ALL of the factory options available – everything from Equipment Group 821A to the following options to make it the most equipped base-level GT500 available from Ford:

  • SVT Track Package
  • Electronics Package with Navigation
  • Glass Roof
  • Recaro Seats
  • Car Cover

Then we performed the started our masterwork conversion by handcrafting a unique wide-body conversion design treatment that provided both subtle and dramatic body enhancements and added the proprietary Steeda powertrain and suspension upgrades - all designed to create an unforgettable dynamic driving experience:  The Steeda GT500 Wide-Body.

Modification features (standard and optional) included in this wide-body conversion include the following custom designed features:

  • Uniquely designed front facia that flows into the widened fenders and incorporate integrated cooling ducts
  • Front fenders widened a total of 6” to provide increased space for larger tire and wheel packages up to 22” wheels and tire sized up to 285x30x22
  • Rear fenders widened a total of 7” to provide greatly enhanced traction via the use of wider rear tires up to 335x25x22
  • Shaved door handles and an electronic door opening mechanism for a smooth-clean aero appearance that compliments the smooth lines of the fender modifications
  • Unique rear decklid treatment that subscribes to the theory:  “Less is More” by featuring a clean appearance with the Cobra Snake proudly on display

Hear the 2015 Mustang GT V8 roar for the first time

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

Our combined knowledge of the 2015 Ford Mustang continues to deepen, as spy shooters have begun to compile video and audio of the upcoming sixth-generation car.
Case in point is this latest series of video clips, which not only gives us a great vantage point of the Mustang in motion, but also allows us to hear the Ford V8 engine and exhaust. After perusing the aural delights of this short video, which, admittedly, doesn't catch the Mustang GT at full song, we can at least say that the throaty exhaust isn't disappointing.
Chances are good that the 2015 Mustang GT will debut with some version of the current (and excellent) Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine, though we're unclear as to whether or not the motor has been massaged for its next-gen debut, or what may have been done to exhaust plumbing. At this point, we're just happy to hear the pony run. Scroll below to hear for yourself.

Mulally confirms he's not leaving Ford for Microsoft

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

In recent months, rumors had been flying about Ford CEO Alan Mulally potentially leaving the company to take a position at Microsoft. Last we heard, Mulally was planning to stick around at Ford through at least 2014, and in an interview today, that bit was confirmed by the CEO himself.
According to the Associated Press, in a report from The Detroit News, Mulally said he will not be leaving Ford for Microsoft, and reiterated that he will remain at the Blue Oval through 2014, if not longer. Mulally has "no plans other than to serve Ford," according to the report.
Mulally did not say whether or not he had been in talks with Microsoft at any point. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said he plans to leave the software company sometime this year.

Ford-sponsored survey says a third of Brits have snapped a 'selfie' while driving [w/videos]

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

Talking on the phone while driving isn't advisable, and texting while driving is downright dangerous. Considering those truths, the fact that we even need to point this out this is incredibly disturbing: taking "selfies" while behind the wheel is exceptionally stupid. But, it's a thing that a third of 18- to 24-year-old British drivers have copped to doing, according to a new study from Ford.
Ford, through its Driving Skills for Life program, surveyed 7,000 smartphone owners from across Europe, all aged between 18 and 24, and found that young British drivers were more likely to snap a selfie while behind the wheel than their counterparts in Germany, France, Romania, Italy, Spain and Belgium.
According to the study, the average selfie takes 14 seconds, which, while traveling at 60 miles per hour, is long enough to travel over the length of nearly four football fields (the Ford study uses soccer fields, but we translated it to football, because, you know, America). That's an extremely dangerous distance to not be focused on the road.
