No matter how nasty, ferocious, and fast a car may be, there are always guys who want more. More power, more
speed, more performance. And for those guys, a garden-variety Ford GT500 just wasn't enough. Enter this 2007 Ford
Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake, a 600+ horsepower monster that over-delivers on one heck of a big promise.
To get a Super Snake, you'd buy one new 2007 Shelby GT500, then send it back to Shelby American for the big
horsepower injection. Of course, it's a lot more than just more power, with the Super Snake getting some special
emblems and its most iconic feature, the custom hood with that giant scoop, all made of carbon fiber and rumored to
cost more than $25,000. Each. The Vista Blue paint is factory-issue and like new in every way, and there's no
question the guys at Shelby understood what customers expected in a $100,000+ supercar. Panel fit is excellent, the
paint looks miles deep, and those satin black stripes add just the right aggressive look without being
overpowering. Standard GT500 body parts round out the look, and there's nobody in the world who won't fall in lust
with this Mustang the moment they lay eyes on it. The fact that it's showroom fresh only adds to the appeal.
The interior is standard GT500 as well, but that's hardly a bad thing. Deeply sculpted seats now wear "Super
Snake" embroidery on the headrests and there are some special floor mats, but the rest should be familiar. What
that really means is that the money was spent on the important stuff under the hood and since nobody's complaining
about the accommodations in the Super Snake, well, better to just leave well enough alone. The black leather
remains in excellent condition, as you'd expect on a car with under 8535 original miles and the list of features is
as long as your arm: A/C, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, cruise control, tilt wheel, and a kickin'
stereo that'll make your ears bleed before the engine will. Auxiliary gauges were added up high to keep an eye on
the warmed-over engine, which, incidentally, was sold without a warranty simply because Shelby knew what kind of
guys were buying such an animal. No surprise there. This car also has a spotless trunk still outfitted with a big
subwoofer kit; hey, with 725 dyno-proven rear-wheel horsepower on tap, curb weight is almost irrelevant.

This Ford F-150 might have a Land Rover turbodiesel V6
Thu, Dec 17 2015Our spy photographers just caught this Ford F-150 driving around Dearborn, wearing camouflage around the bed – not so unusual near Ford's headquarters. What's interesting with this particular mule is that it might be packing a Jaguar-Land Rover turbodiesel V6. As with the Super Duty, the F-150 prototype pictured here sports a Venturi exhaust tip popping out the side of the rear bumper behind the wheel, which – along with the sound reported by our shutterbug – suggests that it's burning oil up front. That could mean Ford has found another application for the 3.2-liter, five-cylinder Power Stroke diesel that it just federalized for the Transit van. However our sources suggest what the mule is actually powered by the 3.0-liter Lion V6 diesel that Jaguar Land Rover – once subsidiaries in Ford's Premier Automotive Group – is bringing over for the Td6 models of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The engine produces a respectable 254 horsepower and a healthy 443 pound-feet of torque, and is tipped to be mated to the same ten-speed automatic transmission as the new Raptor. That could give the F-150 the kind of fuel economy and muscle it would need to challenge the likes of the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and the heavier-duty Nissan Titan with the Cummins engine. With gas prices as low as they are, however, and sales of diesel-powered vehicles lagging, Ford could just be trying to keep up with the competition by offering a light-duty diesel pickup. With its lightweight aluminum body, the diesel F-150 could even surpass the Duramax diesel-powered Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon for frugality at the pumps, according to Mark Williams of PickupTrucks.com. He told Autoblog that, "it makes perfect sense for Ford to do a diesel. It seems like everyone is pushing them to do a Ranger, but if they can get the F-150 to push 30 mpg it can challenge the Ram Ecodiesel and even the Colorado Duramax." Reached for comment, Ford spokesman Mike Levine sent us the following statement: "We do not speculate about future products. While diesel is a solution, it is not the solution. EcoBoost offers the ideal combination of performance and fuel economy that over 60 percent of F-150 customers are choosing." 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible makes inappropriate appearance in Detroit [w/video]
Tue, 14 Jan 2014With the polar vortex fresh in the minds of Autoblog's Detroit-based staff, we're finding it funny that any manufacturer would choose January in the Motor City to show off a new and highly anticipated convertible to the general media and public for the first time. But Ford has done just that, giving us our first real peek at the new Mustang Convertible in the flesh.
The new Mustang Convertible is more or less unchanged from the standard coupe, with some subtle styling tweaks to accommodate the retractable soft top. Engine and transmission choices are identical to the hardtop, although we should expect slightly lower performance due to the hardware for the roof. Like the coupe, neither prices nor performance metrics have been published yet for the convertible.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
