2007 Ford Mustang Shelby Gt500 Coupe 2-door on 2040-cars
Jackson, Mississippi, United States
No matter how nasty, ferocious, and fast a car may be, there are always guys who want more. More power, more speed, more performance. And for those guys, a garden-variety Ford GT500 just wasnt enough. Enter this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake, a 600+ horsepower monster that over-delivers on one heck of a big promise. To get a Super Snake, youd buy one new 2007 Shelby GT500, then send it back to Shelby American for the big horsepower injection. Of course, its a lot more than just more power, with the Super Snake getting some special emblems and its most iconic feature, the custom hood with that giant scoop, all made of carbon fiber and rumored to cost more than $25,000. Each. The Vista Blue paint is factory-issue and like new in every way, and theres no question the guys at Shelby understood what customers expected in a $100,000+ supercar. Panel fit is excellent, the paint looks miles deep, and those satin black stripes add just the right aggressive look without being overpowering. Standard GT500 body parts round out the look, and theres nobody in the world who wont fall in lust with this Mustang the moment they lay eyes on it. The fact that its showroom fresh only adds to the appeal. The interior is standard GT500 as well, but thats hardly a bad thing. Deeply sculpted seats now wear Super Snake embroidery on the headrests and there are some special floor mats, but the rest should be familiar. What that really means is that the money was spent on the important stuff under the hood and since nobodys complaining about the accommodations in the Super Snake, well, better to just leave well enough alone. The black leather remains in excellent condition, as youd expect on a car with under 8535 original miles and the list of features is as long as your arm: A/C, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, cruise control, tilt wheel, and a kickin stereo thatll make your ears bleed before the engine will. Auxiliary gauges were added up high to keep an eye on the warmed-over engine, which, incidentally, was sold without a warranty simply because Shelby knew what kind of guys were buying such an animal. No surprise there. This car also has a spotless trunk still outfitted with a big subwoofer kit; hey, with 620 dyno-proven rear-wheel horsepower on tap, curb weight is almost irrelevant. OK, the good stuff: the original 4-cam GT500 engine is treated to a giant supercharger, a Kenne-Bell Whipple unit that out-performs the GT500 unit by a substantial margin. It makes full boost before you can get your foot on the floor and theres not a tire made that can keep it hooked to the pavement. Theres special tuning involved, an upgraded Borla exhaust system, oversized coolers, and everything else that youd need to make a reliable big-horsepower daily driver. The suspension got all of Ford Racings best stuff thats up to the rigors of all that horsepower and the binders are giant Baer 6-piston discs with upsized cross-drilled rotors. Trick Alcoa aluminum wheels were designed just for this car and carry 255/35/20 front and 275/35/20 rear Pirelli rubber. Shelby built only a limited number of these each year and they trade hands very, very rarely, so finding one on the open market is an extraordinary opportunity. Still the nastiest Mustang you can own, this one is fully documented and ready to rock. In addition to everything above, this car comes with all the stock takeoff parts. That includes wheels, stock super charger, stock takeoff parts This also come with a Viper alarm that has a one mile range. Lastly, this baby has lived in a climate controlled garage and been started at regular intervals when not driven. Fluids changed yearly and tread on tires is like new.

Man has surgery to remove T-Bird turn signal that's been in his arm for 51 years
Fri, Jan 2 2015In 1963, real estate agent Arthur Lampitt was driving a new Ford Thunderbird near East Peoria, Illinois on his way to an appointment when he collided head-on with a truck. A massive accident that was so bad that it was originally reported as a fatal crash, Lampitt suffered a broken hip and that became the focus of doctors' efforts. In fact, no one noticed the fact that the turn-signal stalk had been broken off the steering column and had lodged itself in Lampitt's arm. Fast-forward to around ten years ago, when Lampitt set off a courthouse metal detector because of a "slender object, about the size of a pencil" in his arm. Despite that unnerving discovery, the doctor who examined Lampitt said that since it didn't hurt, he needn't worry about it. This year, however, it did start hurting and the affected arm started to bulge. Lampitt decided to have the issue seen to, and suspected it might have something to do with his 1963 accident. When he looked through photos of the wreck taken by a friend, he noticed the turn-signal stalk of the Thunderbird missing and figured that was the culprit. After a 45-minute outpatient surgery, the surgeon verified it: a slim, slightly bent and corroded, seven-inch metal cylinder with a trumpeted end. The surgeon said a protective pocket had formed around it, which is why it could remain in Lampitt's arm so long, but it was still unusual - "We see all kinds of foreign objects like nails or pellets, but usually not this large." Lampitt, who is expected to make a full recovery, says he might make a keychain out of it, once he's done just holding it. Ford GT gets sexy shape and EcoBoost power [w/videos]
Mon, Jan 12 2015American automakers make vehicles of all shapes and sizes, but the one thing they almost invariably share in common is their front-engine layout. Niche offerings from the likes of SSC, Saleen and Vector (and the almost anecdotal Pontiac Fiero) aside, the most notable exception has been the Ford GT. And now it's back. Launched on the floor of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the new Ford GT picks up where the last one left off the better part of a decade ago – similarly taking its cues from the original, Le Mans-winning GT40, but in a less retro, more modern form. Instead of the atmospheric V8 in the original or the supercharged one in the retro revival, the new GT packs a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 nestled in the middle of its wheelbase and driving "more than 600 horsepower" to the rear wheels. Although Ford hasn't revealed the specific output or performance figures, it says the engine – derived from its Daytona Prototype unit and mated to a seven-speed DCT – is its most powerful production EcoBoost ever. Fortunately it's got carbon-ceramic brakes to keep it all in check, packed into 20-inch wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 rubber. The discs aren't all that's made from carbon on the new Ford GT, though: it's built around a carbon monocoque with structural carbon-fiber body panels, but with aluminum sub-frames front and back. Ford designed the new GT with a narrower canopy than its predecessors, cutting the frontal aerodynamic profile and tapering towards the back. It's also equipped with active aero elements including an active rear wing. Upwards swinging doors ought to make ingress and egress easier to and from the cockpit that's fitted with fixed seats, adjustable pedals and F1-style steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster. The new GT is set to enter production next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GT40's famous 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. By the time it does, we're sure Ford will let us know just how fast America's newest supercar will be.
Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is a track-day weapon with 500 hp
Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Ford promises more than 500 horsepower and a torque peak above 400 lb-ft.
The wait is finally over. After months of spy shots, rumor and innuendo, Ford has officially pulled the wraps off its new Shelby GT350. Judging by the spec sheet and the promises being made - especially that the Shelby GT350 will be "an all-day track car that's also street legal" - the wait appears to have been worth it.
