For sale is an extremely rare Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H convertible. Car 381 of 500. Carroll Shelby Manufacturing number 07H381. Black with Hertz gold Shelby stripes and black convertible top. Shelby roll bar. Black wheels. Black leather interior. Shaker stereo. Car is all original, just like it was when it left Shelby. Car was the Super Sunday Award winner at the DFW Spring 2013 Good Guys Rod and Custom Car Show. Included with the car is the metal Carroll Shelby Manufacturing dash plate which was never installed. All the Shelby and Hertz paperwork which includes the original window sticker, Shelby build sheet, Shelby registry certificate, and delivery sheet. Also included is 2 sets of keys and remotes, convertible top boot, Carroll Shelby silver signature floor mats, Shelby GT-H banner with CSM number, gold Hertz car club center cap stickers, Rent-a-Racer license plate frame, and some various receipts and service records. Car is in excellent condition, but it has been a driver car. Everything on the interior is in great condition and everything works as it should. Top works and seals perfectly. Everything mechanically works perfectly. Gold Hertz stripes were replaced about 2.5 years ago by Jordan Ford in San Antonio, TX. Stripe fading is fairly common with these metallic stripes, but the new stripes look great and the car has been stored inside since. Here are the only issues I know about and I am pretty picky: Has some scratches on the drivers underside of the front fascia from speed bumps or curbs (you can see them slightly in the pics), small peck (maybe 2-3mm) and a mark in one stripe on the hood where it folds over to the windshield, small mark on the hood from pulling the hood pin and a small peck in the windshield which has been repaired but is still visible. I have clear title in hand. Car is available for inspection/driving in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Feel free to set up a time to view it in person. I live only about 5 miles from DFW airport. Please ask any questions before bidding. Terms: $1000 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of auction. I will accept Paypal or an overnighted check or money order. The remainder of the payment is due within 7 days. No exceptions. I will accept certified funds only. No personal checks. I will hold the car until all funds clear. Cash is also accepted in person. If you are in DFW I can accompany you to the bank for certified funds and won't have to hold the car. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will assist as much as I can, but buyer must make arrangements. If you wish to drive the car home, I will pick you up at DFW airport. Car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to cancel any bids and sell locally. If you have 0 feedback email me before you bid or I will cancel your bid. US bidders only.

Honda poised for growth, Detroit to hold steady, Car Wars study says

Fri, Jun 5 2015

The automotive industry is expected to keep booming in the US over the next several years, but the train might start running out of steam in the long term, according to 2015's Car Wars report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst John Murphy. The forecast focuses on changes between the 2016 and 2019 model years, and the latest trends appear similar in some cases to the past predictions. Sales are expected to keep growing and reach a peak of 20 million in 2018, according to the Detroit Free Press. The expansion is projected to come from a quick pace of vehicle launches, with an average of 48 introductions a year – 26 percent more than in 1996. Crossovers are expected to make up a third of these, maintaining their strong popularity. However, Murphy predicts a decline, as well. By 2025, total sales could fall to around 15 million units. As of May 2015, the seasonally adjusted annual rate for this year stands at 17.71 million. Like last year, Honda is predicted to be a big winner in the future thanks to products like the next-gen Civic. "Honda should be the biggest market share gainer," Murphy said when presenting the report, according to Free Press. Meanwhile, in a situation similar to Car Wars from 2012, a lack of many new vehicles is expected to cause a drop for Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan. Based on this forecast, Ford, General Motors, and FCA US will all generally maintain market share for the coming years. The report does make some future product predictions, though. The next Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra might come in 2019, which is earlier than expected. Also, Lincoln could get a Mustang-based coupe for 2017, a compact sedan for 2018 and an Explorer-based model in 2019, according to the Free Press. eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype

Wed, 08 May 2013

Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.

Ford reveals EcoBoost-powered Riley prototype for Daytona 24

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

It's not the first time Ford has participated in the Daytona Prototype class as an engine supplier, but in revealing this new EcoBoost V6-powered Riley Technologies prototype for the new United SportsCar Championship, Ford is making a statement: "We want to show Ford EcoBoost's capabilities as an engine that provides both performance and fuel economy, on and off the track," says Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing.
In addition to supplying the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Ford had its production designer Garen Nicoghosian give the racecar brand-inspired design cues with support from Ford Racing chief aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus.
The car is scheduled to compete at next year's Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25-26, but before that, Michael Shank Racing is working with Ford at another goal. Driving his Ford Thunderbird, NASCAR champion Bill Elliott set the track's top speed record at 210.364 miles per hour during a qualifying run for the Daytona 500 - way back in 1987 -- and Ford thinks it's about time for that record to fall. What better time the introduction of this new Ford-powered Daytona Prototype? Michael Shank Racing plans to use the twin-turbo V6-powered racer to beat Elliott's record, and it expects to begin prepping for the top-speed run on October 9.
