2004 Mustang Cobra

Here we have a 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra with a real nice paint job! I bought the car with no engine and no transmission. When i bought the car i had plans of buying another wrecked Cobra from a local auto auction and i bid on several different cars over a good few months but never found one at a decent price, In the condition i was looking for anyways... At that point i thought maybe i would just build a track car, so i had the car taken over to a paint shop to start my transformation. After being undecided on a color for weeks i decided to go with a nice lime green. The cars color really does it justice! When it is sunny outside it lights up the street and stands out like crazy, and when it is dark or it is raining it looks a little more suttle but the pearl in the paint makes a flop almost like a chameleon. After the paint was done i continued to search for a suitable engine and trans and came across a guy that had some mach parts. At this point in time i loved the car and wanted to build a car i could drive anywhere but also take to the track or out on the street and make people ponder on whats under the hood. I struck a deal with him and bought the engine and trans and being a avid Mustang builder i figured this would be the perfect time to get rid of the stock IRS rear, Sure its nice if your taking high speed turns but that's not what i had in mind... I wanted a car that was going to stick to the pavement during that 0-60. So i asked him about a rear and it worked out nice, It turned out that  he had a solid axle rear that was fully built with strange axles and a set of 430 Gears. I thought about removing the shaker and installing a Eaton supercharger or a Kenne Bell but i really love the shaker and im the kind of guy that wants to turn heads so i thought of an idea to have the best of both worlds. I would keep the shaker and plain and simple get a built Procharger Kit. Anyone that knows mustangs knows that the mach engine and Cobra engine are very similar. The Cobra has lower compression because its supercharged,It has forged crank, rods, and pistons at 8:5:1 compression ratio with a cast iron block and the cams are set up for forced induction. While the Mach has higher compression for the naturally aspirated engine, it also has a forged crank however the rods are powdered with hyper pistons with a 10:0:1 compression ratio with a aluminum Block and torque specific cams.To me the answer was obvious... I already have the engine out why not build it the way i want it now? So i had a complete forged Eagle rotating assembly installed. I left the Aluminum block because my goal was to make around 550 RWHP nothing crazy so it made sense to keep the lighter block. At the same time i had the guys drop in a spec stage 3 clutch kit. After the engine and transmission were installed we had to have a Mach cluster installed to work with the new set up and from that point she cranked right up with no issues! Since ive had it up and running i have made a few other changes. I have installed MSD blaster coils, MGW short throw shifter (also have a pro 5.0 if preferred),a set of custom deep dish bullit wheels with 275/40/17 ET street tires, Magna flow exhaust(Also have a set of SLP),and a K&N Air filter. Unfortunately i never got to finish my project... I really love the car and wish i could keep it but a family emergency has popped up and i really need the money let alone have the money to finish my project. The car is amazing! Its currently already quicker then a stock Cobra and to finish my project all you would need is to purchase a procharger, a set of comp cams, and a 6-speed trans(If preferred) and you would have a absolute nightmare on wheels.Shes already a monster the way it sits! Everything on this car was done right i bought the best of everything. If you were to change nothing on this car you would have a reliable, awesome looking, and fast car! I know there is a lot going on here and if there is anything that is not understood feel free to contact me and ill do my best to explain and or show you with pictures. Im kind of bummed i never got to take it to Mustang week or even to the track for that mater but my loss can be your gain! This car should be purchased by a Mustang enthusiast as it was sold by one. I think you have to be one to really appreciate this one. Good Luck Bidding!!

New car market raining on convertibles' parade

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.

Ford and 'Dirty Jobs' pitchman Mike Rowe part ways [w/videos]

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe has one less job as of today - the pitchman is no longer a pitchman for Ford, with yesterday's announcement from Rowe ending a seven-year partnership between the TV host and the Blue Oval.
Rowe made the announcement to political pundit Glenn Beck, saying the two are "going in different directions" and wishing Ford "every possibly success that any car company could ever have," according to The Detroit News. Rowe and Ford got together in 2005, right around the time the 51-year-old came to prominence as the host of Dirty Jobs and the narrator for Deadliest Catch, two of the Discovery Channel's most popular shows.
Take a look below for a few video snippets of Rowe's tenure at Ford.
