2002 Mustang Convt. Shelby Gt 500 - Black & Nice! on 2040-cars
Wedgefield, South Carolina, United States
I have never done a carfacts report on this vehichle, but this is what I was told from the previous owner. The car was originally purchased in GA. It was purchased as a mustang GT and the original owner through his own expense had the car sent to SHELBY INTERNATIONAL in SOUTHFIELD MICHIGAN for the GT 500 package. it spent about the first 7 years in GA and then purchased by an older gentleman in PA. He owned it for about a year and put less than 1000 miles on it and only sold it because it had a performance clutch that was to difficult for his wife to push down to shift. The car was bought for her. I bought it in 2009 with aproximatly 70000k miles. It has been meticulously maintained and kept in the garage under a car cover when not in use. It now has 135000k miles on it,Mainly highway miles because when I bought it, I lived in NJ and spent a year driving back and forth from NJ to SC looking to purchase a new home and retire. It has only seen the rain a handful of times and has never been raced or beat on. It is adult owned with a clear title. AS far as condition, the driver seat has a tear on the ass part where the metal frame has come to the surface and wore a hole. I'm a big guy so that probably figures into it. Other wise the interior is very decent. I just had the sunvisors professionally redone with leather. the factory used a fabric that the sun quickly wore out. I also must say, the top is rarely up,whats the point of a convt.? The paint is decent with a couple very small nicks here and there. there are no dents and to my knowledge it has never been in an accident. The Experian report in this listing mentions an accident, I assure you I have no knowledge of that and if it happened ,it must have been very minor! It has a 4.6 liter with the cold air intake and I was told some other things have been done to the motor. When I bought the car I was given a Dyno print out of 325 HP to the rear wheels but lost it in the move. once you drive it, you will have no doubt that's true! It is going to need a new clutch soon but it's absolutely driveable. I would get in it and drive to California today ,that's how much confidence I have in this car. along with the back and forth from NJ to SC ,the car has gone to TN -FLA- NIAGRA FALLS CANADA and a few other places without ever having any kind of problems. All work snce I have owned it has been done by a certified mustang guy who teaches automotives here at the SC technical school. Tires have plenty of life left and I just replaced the stereo because the CD player on the factory mach 6 system bit the dust. The top is in good shape also. if someone wants to see a pic with top up just ask. I just didn't want to take off the hard shell. It has the original boot and hard shell cover and I'll throw in the car cover too. I can't think of anything else at this moment but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Buyer will be required to deposit $500 in my pay pal account upon purchase and I would prefer the rest in cash or certified check, but the car stays here until check completely clears. I've heard stories of fake cahiers checks so please don't take it personally. It's not a must sell for me, I have another supercharged mustang that's my daily driver so keeping it is no big deal. I just don't drive it much anymore ,don't really want to put anymore miles than I have to on it.SO long story short, I'm a regular honest Christian guy who is not trying to screw anyone. what I say in this ad is what I know. I welcome any REASONABLE offers. I know there was not a factory GT 500 in 2002 so I really have no idea what this package adds to it's value. I know what I paid and I know what I'd like to get. That's about it!-- oh, buyer is responsible for arranging pick up and all that stuff. I sold a 74 duster a few months ago to a guy in FLa. and it cost him $300 to have it shipped from SC to his front door if that helps.

Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines
Fri, 25 Oct 2013The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.
2015 Ford Mustang will tell authorities how you crashed and if you were belted [w/video]
Sat, 28 Jun 2014When the 2015 Ford Mustang hits dealers, it will be with a new batch of features that will power up Sync's 911 Assist feature, and provide an even greater degree of information to first responders in the event of an accident.
911 Assist will already make a phone call, via a Bluetooth-connected phone, should you bin your car. The automatic message to first responders is a pre-recorded blurb from Ford. With the new enhancements, though, emergency personnel can learn about the maximum change in velocity and whether the crash involved a front, rear, side or a rollover impact. 911 Assist will also send information about how many seat belts were in use and if airbags deployed, allowing more accurate dispatch of resources.
"Sync will only broadcast relevant information to save time, and it constructs a very efficient message for the operator," said David Hatton, the global project leader with Ford Connected Services. "After the introductory message, the voice line opens automatically and occupants can speak directly with the operator via Sync's hands-free functionality."
Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?
Fri, May 27 2016When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
