Up for sale is a very nice 2000 Mustang Saleen, car number 90. It is a factory Saleen supercharged car. It is 1 of 203 produced. It only has 24k actual mile and is in great shape. Laser red in color with black top and black leather. The car is bone stock with the exception of the Borla exhaust that came on it from Saleen. It also has the carbon fiber exterior and interior option which was an extra back in 2000. Has carbon fiber outside mirrors and multiple interior trim pieces on inside are carbon fiber. It has the Mach 460 sound system. The dash has also been signed by Steve Saleen. Everything on the car works, all power options, the top, heat/ac, etc. The top is in great shape, no rips or tears, doesn't leak either. Also comes with convertible top boot to put on car when top is down. The car runs and drives great. I just put brand new Bridgestone Potenzas on the car, 285/35/18 in rear and 275/35/18 in front, tires have less than 50 miles on them. The underside of the car is spotless, no drips/leaks of any type. Interior of the car is like new, with the exception of some cracking in leather on the front seats, which is typical. Backseats haven't been sat in. The exterior shows well and is all original. There is a scrape on passenger side front bumper that is noticeable when you are looking at the front of the car, approx. 3-4 inches long, its not bad but its there. The spoiler has had a couple scratches on it, but they have been touched up. The rest of the paint shows wear, a couple very small scratches in a couple places. So small they won't show up when I try to take pictures of them. Overall the car is in great shape and is a piece of Mustang history. I would rate the car overall a 9 on a 1 to 10 scale. I have clean and clear title in hand, also a clean Autocheck Report. Banks will loan on this car as the guy I got it from had it financed himself. Call 828-289-6985 or email with questions, best way to reach me is by phone.

Bacon-wrapped Ford Fiesta hams it up for International Bacon Day

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

This is a bacon-wrapped Ford Fiesta. It is a real thing, that a real, multi-billion-dollar company designed. And it isn't even April Fools' Day. Designed for International Bacon Day, which is also apparently a thing, the 2014 Fiesta is finished in Green Envy paint - we're told black paint, like the color of a skillet, made the car look camouflaged - and features 10 gigantic decals depicting strips of tender, cured bacon.
The design, which was approved by the CEO of Benton's Country Hams, Allan Benton, show off the depth of Ford's Custom Graphics program. Unbelievably, Ford will actually start offering bacon decals to everyday customers, including (and we can't believe we're writing this) dual bacon racing stripes which will no doubt have Carroll Shelby spinning and/or salivating in his grave, and a "side of bacon," which wraps a couple of strips over the rear wheels.
Benton, who Ford claims is the King of Bacon, had this to say: "This car just makes so much sense." The Fiesta's marketing manager, Liz Elser added, "It's just awesome to drive down the road in a piece of bacon."

Lincoln recycling tree fibers into new MKX armrest

Thu, Feb 27 2014

Want to hug a tree, or at least a really small part of one. Then set your arm down on one of those armrests in the 2014 Lincoln MKX crossover. The US automaker is working with Weyerhaeuser and Johnson Controls on a tree-based, cellulose-reinforced polypropylene material used in the component that connects the armrest to the floor console, Wards Auto says. With properties similar to plastic, the tree-based material replaces fiberglass and is about six percent lighter. No big deal for now, but if the material starts getting used for things like battery trays and interior storage covers, that loss in weight may eventually start adding up enough to boost fuel economy a bit, providing a green double bonus. Lincoln parent Ford, which isn't saying how much more (or less?) it costs to use the new material, established its Biomaterials and Plastics Research team in 2001. In 2007, the company began using soy-based foam in car seats used for models such as the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Mustang and has since broadened biomaterials use to components like floormats and cupholder inserts. Ford also used recycled plastic bottles from the 2012 North America International Auto Show for seats in the Focus Electric.

Ford evaluating new Fiesta RS?

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

Word coming in from across the pond has it that Ford is working on developing the business case to create a new Fiesta RS. The development is encouraged by the extremely positive reception the existing Fiesta ST has garnered to date, and the emergence of the above-pictured Fiesta RS WRC rally car, but it'll take more than goodwill to make a more extreme version a reality.
According to Auto Express, a new roadgoing Fiesta RS would almost certainly be based closely on the ST version, albeit with some vital differences. Its 1.6-liter turbo four would be increased from 180 horsepower to somewhere around 230 hp, and that powertrain would be accompanied by lightweight alloys inside blistered wheel arches, a stripped-out interior and possibly lightweight bodywork.
The vehicle's approval would reportedly require a strong business case in Europe, and not just in the UK where Ford hot hatches traditionally enjoy a strong following. It's unclear whether the Fiesta RS would potentially make the transatlantic voyage to American showrooms, but between it and the larger Focus RS, hopefully the Blue Oval wouldn't leave its home market out of the action altogether.
