All the fluids have recently been changed and the car runs excellent. It also received a Kurgan Motorsports dyno tune in April 2013. The car is solid and is ready for the next owner to take it to the next level. The motor can handle all the abuse you can throw at it and is begging for forced induction.

Defects/flaws:

Under dash fuse box cover broken
Cigarette lighter door broken
Wideband gauge needs either a recalibration or a new sensor (probably recalibrate since it's an Innovate LC-1 and I've heard they're famous for that)
Driver's side fog light melted due to HID's (still have HID kit for them but the bulb mount is melted)
Clutches make noise in rear end when it gets hot (fresh rebuild of rear end and the clutches haven't broken in all the way yet)
Small nick in the window tint on the driver's side window from the regular locking up (regulator has been replaced)

Otherwise the car is in great condition.

Exterior - 7/10. It shows wear being an 18 year old car such as the expected rock chips and light scratches.
Interior - 9/10
Drivetrain - 10/10 - Everything works as it should down to all the creature comforts.

Over $25,000 invested in this car in parts and labor!

This vehicle is also listed on various forums and locally therefore, I reserved the right to end this auction at any time without any notice.

The title is also under lien at my local credit union. I hardly owe anything left on it though so that will not be a problem as to releasing the title to the buyer of the vehicle.

Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output

Mon, Jan 6 2014

How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.

Ford unveils its facelifted Falcon finale with new XR8

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

While its days may be numbered, Ford isn't just going to let its Falcon sedan limp out for the Australian market. No, the Blue Oval is releasing a refreshed Falcon for its final years, and it's lead by this, the new XR8. That's right, this dead-car-driving is going to go out on a high note.
Ford's global design DNA dominates the looks of the new Falcon, with a grille reminiscent of the US market Fusion and the European-market Mondeo. The headlights aren't a straight port, and boast their own unique LED running light pattern (at least on the XR8), but the overall look is strikingly similar. Out back, LED taillights highlight the rear of the Faclon. Despite the substantial new fascia, this is still a mid-cycle refresh. That means most of the rest of the Falcon's body panels are carryovers from the current model.
The XR8 model, shown above, arrives with a supercharged V8, allegedly displacing 5.0 liters. Unfortunately, details on the Falcon's mechanicals are in remarkably short supply. Ford has committed to a range of turbocharged four, as well as turbocharged and naturally aspirated six-cylinders, in addition to the V8, although specifics on those mills aren't available.

Ford Escort returns, just not for US

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

Ford is set to give the burgeoning Chinese market its very own C-segment model, while also reviving one of the brand's more notable nameplates. The new Escort, which will make its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show will be built in the People's Republic at the Changan Ford joint venture facility.
The Escort's exterior is best thought of as a mix of the finer points from the US market Focus and Fusion, with the Aston Martin-ish grille and narrow, wraparound taillights presenting a clean look at either end of the car. It's all fairly true to the concept car from last year's Shanghai Motor Show. That said, this exterior job is almost too clean. There doesn't seem to be a lot of character or substance beyond the typical Ford looks.
There's a similar issue in the cabin - it all looks pretty nice, but the design is rather plain, particularly when viewed alongside the display-filled cabin of a US-spec car. Still, there looks to be a fair amount of space in both the front and back seats, and the trunk isn't exactly tiny, either.
