I have this 1997 cobra up for auction. It has the 4.6 dohc 4 valve, 5 speed. Mods are longtube headers, offroad Xpipe (previous owner welded headers to the offroad xpipe), SLP loudmouth mufflers, 4.10 gear, bbk cai, under drive pulleys, msd coils, short runner intake mod, IMRC delete, Hurst short throw shifter, adjustable clutch cable, sct X2 tuner, Blankenship tuned. Has been a best of 12.7x@107 mph in the 1/4 mile at London, Ky. This car has been previously repaired from a front end collision approximately 10 years ago, this collision is the reason for the rebuilt title. The car was hit in the front, the frame was pulled, the radiator support, both fenders, hood, front bumper were all replaced in this repair. The unibody of the car still shows signs of the collision on the transmission tunnel area, but this didn't appear to affect anything as the car has been on the road for 10 years or so after the repair. This car has been used as a weekend driver/toy during this time. The body does need some alignments on the gaps, and the clear is peeling on the car. All body panels and bumpers are nice, and the car has a brand new unpainted Saleen wing on it. The rear taillights have been smoked, and look pretty decent this way on the black car. The two issues with the car that cause me to list it as a parts or project cars are... 1. The transmission broke a shifter fork on the last track outing for the previous owner, the tranny was pulled, the shifter fork was replaced, a brand new clutch was bought and it all needs reinstalled. 2. While the car was down, the previous owner sold the seats, (front and rear) out of the car in hopes of putting some racing seats in it, so right now it doesn't currently have any seats in it. The rest of the interior is in it still, the airbags were replaced with regular mustang airbags. The drivers door panel is hanging away from the door on the back edge, this door panel must have some clips broke? Everything else appears to be ok. Clear Rebuilt title is in hand and ready to go with it. No reserve on this auction, this car is for sale locally so I may end the auction at any time. Can be seen in Whitesburg Ky, 41858 |

Geneva Motor Show highlights from Zach
Ford tells Congress it collects and protects some driver data
Fri, 14 Feb 2014Last month Ford's Jim Farley made waves at the CES when it was reported he told show attendees, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone." Farley and Ford later partially retracted and clarified that statement.
Spurred by a desire for further transparency on data collection policies, Ford representatives answered questions from Congress, specifically Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.), about driver privacy.
The Detroit News reports that Ford told Congress it does collect some vehicle location data in an effort to "troubleshoot and improve our products" on behalf of the driver. Ford went on to say that it only collects limited data after receiving permission from owners.
GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups
Wed, 19 Feb 2014Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
