This convertible was purchased by me in 2008. It is in the same condition as it was when i purchased it.   The car has sat in a warehouse since then and has only recently been towed to my home and is now in the garage parked.  It has not seen weather at all.  It has a new battery and is dusty right now.  Whats wrong with the car is this:  Needs new ignition-where u put in it just twirls around-sometimes u can get key all the way in-i managed that when i first purchased it and yea the car did run-and was loud due to cherry bomb on exhaust-but it hasnt ran since--i havent tried to start it.  The console piece that holds the radio and goes to the shifter is missing as is the radio and so u can see the wiring now.  The back seat speakers are missing as well.  The trunk did open however does not now and that could be cuz of moisture or sitting.  You need to get plastic pieces that go under the door by the seats because they  r missing.  Tires need inflated.  The door panels on both sides need the wires checked and put on properly.  The buttons and wiring are hooked up however just now in the holes of the door panel and the panel needs tightened down on both sides.  The canvas top is in great shape and does work although i havent tried to put it down since i purchased it.  The interior is actually in good shape-it just needs cleaned.  The taillites need tightened down. There is a crease over the back tire that can be popped out without leaving marks on the paint.  The bumper has a crack by the back tire--thats the worst of the body damage.  I havent touched the engine since I first got it so it is how it was.  This would make someone a really good project car and be worth something.  It even has gold ponies on it-I have no idea why but it is neat.

Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with

Mon, 12 May 2014

Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.

Hennessey Ford GT sets 267.6-MPH record at Texas Mile [w/videos]

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

The record-setting Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT we showed you at this time last year headed back to the Texas Mile and managed to bring home yet another record. As you may recollect, last year saw Mark Heidraker's machine sprint to a record 257.7 mph thanks to propulsion from its twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8. The big mill sucks down race gas, and this year the creation pulled off a 267.6-mph run over the weekend. That feat set a new record for the event. Something tells us neither Heidraker nor Hennessey are done squeezing more thrust from this machine.
This particular Ford GT has already gone through a number of permutations. Hennessey started by tweaking the factory supercharger set up before abandoning the blower in favor of two turbos. Since then, the crew has poked and prodded it to coerce as much grunt as possible out of the car. We expect Hennessey will probably come out with a video of the record-setting run shortly, but in the meantime, you can see a couple of videos of the car's runs in Texas below (one of which actually captures the record run). Enjoy.

Detroit automakers gain market share simultaneously for first time in 20 years

Wed, 01 May 2013

While monthly sales figures might be an easy way of tracking the progression of the auto industry and individual automakers, looking at market share might be more indicative of how each company is actually standing up against its competitors. For the Detroit Three automakers, they have collectively lost almost 30 percent of the market over the last 20 years, but now, for the first time since 1993, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have each posted market share gains at the same time.
According to Automotive News, Ford's share increased the most by 0.7 percent, GM was up 0.5 percent and Chrysler rose marginally by 0.2 percent, giving the Detroit automakers a total market share of 45.6 percent. As for the Japan's Big Three, the article reports that Toyota is up by 0.7 percent, Nissan is down the same amount and Honda has seen "little change."
