Offered for sale is a 1993 Supercharged Ford Mustang Coupe (“Notchback”).  The VIN number is 1FACP40E0PF214866.  This car is an original black on black tweed two owner car with only 57K original miles!  The car was purchased from the original owner back in 2002 with 47K miles so all worked described below has at most 10K miles.  It had been extensively modified in 1995 by the previous owner but the parts were quite dated so the car was rebuilt in 2002.   After the rebuild the car was dynoed in 2004 with the 3.33 pulley on the supercharger at 508 horsepower and 463 ft/lb of torque @ 5,800 RPM’s.   The dyno graphs will be included with the sale.  With the 2.75 pulley the car makes 3-5 pounds more boost so in its current configuration it is probably pushing somewhere is the 550-575 horsepower range. 

The car has been part of a few magazine articles, one in the January 2008 issue of Modified Mustangs and the other in the November 2006 issue of Race Pages.  Both will be included with the car.  It was also raced in five different episodes of the PINKS All Out series as well as the inaugural 1320X series by Nate Pritchett. To start the rebuild process the engine, transmission, and rear axle were removed.  Most of the rear body seams and torque boxes were fully welded rather than just spot welded.  They are still in great shape today.  The engine compartment and inner front end were painted the stock black color (base and clear) so it would match the exterior of the car.  The side mirrors were also painted at the time so they are no longer flat black.  The car already had the ghost flames you see in the pictures and the rear of the car remains the original paint.  A 1993 OE Ford Special Edition wing is also installed on the rear of the car.  All new OE front window trim, seals, and drip rails were purchased from Ford and installed.  The stock headlights were replaced with one piece units which give the car a smoother look.  The rear taillights were replaced with brand new OE Ford lenses.  The original matching numbers engine was then rebuilt with the components listed below.  The car still has power steering but no longer has air conditioning or cruise control.  Several transmissions combinations have been in the car and the latest C4 detailed below has less than 100 miles on it.  A custom made a race shifter mount is installed so that it could be mounted in the stock location with no console modification.  It uses a manual boot rather than an automatic but looks like it came from the factory that way.  The rear end was replaced and was rebuilt again less than 1,000 miles ago due to a bad u-joint.  A brand new aluminum driveshaft was also installed at the last rebuild.  The rest of the suspension was rebuilt with mostly new urethane bushings and hard parts during the original build.  The car features a four wheel disc brake conversion as well as all custom front stainless soft and hard brakes lines.  There are no longer any brake lines running across the top of the engine compartment which makes for a much cleaner look.  The interior of the car is mostly stock however an aftermarket radio, speakers, and several aftermarket gauges were added.  The map pockets on the door panels were removed as they tend to stretch over time.  Unlike most Fox Mustangs, the ash tray door works, the arm rest latch works, and all items function as they should.  Since the car is a 1993, it also has the desirable 140 MPH speedometer.

This is a true street/strip car and has spent most of its life street driven on nice summer days.  It has NEVER spent a night outside or EVER seen any winter driving which is why the body and underside of the car are in such nice condition for its age.  Although it does have a reverse manual automatic, the custom shifter set up make it very easily street driven and it appears to be stock to the untrained eye.  It has a relatively small 3,000 stall converter which helps keep it street capable.  It has been taken to the track on several occasions and the car has run a best of 10.49 with the 2.75 pulley on the supercharger.  To be safe it runs on race gas with the 2.75 pulley but the car can also be street driven on premium fuel with a 3.33 pulley.

The car has a clean Michigan title and is currently located in Lancaster, PA.  It is not licensed in PA as the owner just moved there and has not attempted to register it.  It most likely could registered in PA if catalytic converters were put back on the car in the “hot rod” classification.  The car will also come with a copy of the original window sticker as well as every receipt and all documentation for every item replaced on the car. 

There are no major issues, but there any flaws the hood is worth pointing out.  It has a few slight crack lines from age but they do not affect the function or rigidity of the fiberglass.  The side mirror adjustment gears are a bit worn so the mirrors do not move as freely as they used to with the automatic switch.  There are two small door dings in the car, one on the front fender and the other just behind the door. Both are hard to find unless you are looking for them.  The truck side panels have a few cracks in them and the truck floor has a couple of stains.

2015 Ford Mustang fuel economy ratings leaked

Thinking about buying a new Mustang, but want to know what kind of fuel economy it'll get? Well we have our first indication as the pony-car enthusiasts over at Mustang6G.com have gotten a hold of the Monroney window stickers for a few of the new 2015 Mustang models.
Although the V8 model is not among them, we can now see how the EPA has rated those models with a half dozen pistons or less. The Mustang EcoBoost with the turbo four and a manual transmission has been rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway. The V6 manual gets 17 city and 28 highway, while the V6 automatic squeezes out a bit more in the city at 19 mpg but carries the same 28 highway rating.
By way of comparison, the latest Chevy Camaro with the V6 and a stick shift gets the same 17/28 EPA rating as a similarly equipped new 'Stang, and the V6 automatic Camaro gets 18/27 (slightly behind the Ford, but if you opt for the Camaro 2LS with its V6, automatic and 2.92 rear axle ratio, you'll be looking at 19 and 30).

Aluminum lightweighting does, in fact, save fuel

When the best-selling US truck sheds the equivalent weight of three football fullbacks by shifting to aluminum, folks start paying attention. Oak Ridge National Laboratory took a closer look at whether the reduced fuel consumption from a lighter aluminum body makes up for the fact that producing aluminum is far more energy intensive than steel. And the results of the study are pretty encouraging. In a nutshell, the energy needed to produce a vehicle's raw materials accounts for about 10 percent of a typical vehicle's carbon footprint during its total lifecycle, and that number is up from six percent because of advancements in fuel economy (fuel use is down to about 68 percent of total emissions from about 75 percent). Still, even with that higher material-extraction share, the fuel-efficiency gains from aluminum compared to steel will offset the additional vehicle-extraction energy in just 12,000 miles of driving, according to the study. That means that, from an environmental standpoint, aluminum vehicles are playing with the house's money after just one year on the road. Aluminum-sheet construction got topical real quickly earlier this year when Ford said the 2015 F-150 pickup truck would go to a 93-percent aluminum body construction. In addition to aluminum being less corrosive than steel, that change caused the F-150 to shed 700 pounds from its curb weight. And it looks like the Explorer and Expedition SUVs may go on an aluminum diet next. Take a look at SAE International's synopsis of the Oak Ridge Lab's study below. To assess the primary energy and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) implications of vehicle designs utilizing these materials, this study examines the potential life cycle impacts of two lightweight material alternative vehicle designs, i.e., steel and aluminum of a typical passenger vehicle operated today in North America. LCA for three common alternative lightweight vehicle designs are evaluated: current production ("Baseline"), an advanced high strength steel and aluminum design ("LWSV"), and an aluminum-intensive design (AIV).

Ford recalls 9,900 vehicles across two campaigns

Ford is recalling a total of 9,885 vehicles in two campaigns. The Basics: In one recall, Ford will recall 9,017 examples of the 2013 Escape with build dates from January 11, 2012, to April 1, 2013, and the 2013-2014 Focus ST produced between May 3, 2012, and October 14, 2013. The Problem: Splices in the engine wiring harness might not have enough compression, and this can cause the manifold absolute pressure sensor to send incorrect signals to the powertrain control module. This issue could cause the engine to stall. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will replace the current crimped splices with new splices, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If You Own One: The repair campaign will begin on January 4, 2016. More Information: Ford recalled the 2013 Escape and Focus ST in August 2014 for the same problem, and this is an expansion of that campaign, according to company spokesperson John Cangany to Autoblog. The Basics: In the smaller of the two campaigns, Ford will recall 868 examples of the 2013 Explorer, Explorer Police Utility, Taurus, Taurus Police Interceptor, Flex, Lincoln MKS, and MKT. The Problem: The fuel delivery module can crack, which would cause a fuel leak. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module.
