Well I have been tossing around the idea of letting this car go. Unfortunately due to my involvement with the Army I have no time to utilize this car. Ive had it for almost 5 years now, and it's been an awesome car to have at car shows, and to just drive around town. The rarity ensures that you're the only one at the car show with an SVO. It won first place in the 2012 NMRA car show where it gain a small part in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine. This car has been driven to and from New York with no reliability issues in 2011. It had 84,000 miles on it when purchased which is reflected on the title and does not say exempt, as most vehicles over 10 years do. Now has about 100,700 miles. This is probably the most documented SVO out there, with over 100 pages of original documents, restoration receipts, and maintenance records. Some of these papers include, the original window sticker, copy of the build sheet, and even the brochure the original owner used to shop for the vehicle. It comes with the dealer key chain that came with the car. It was purchased at Powell Ford in Florida in the mid 80's. Then was purchased by the second owner where it resided in Georgia for a number of years. Now is in Orlando, Florida. All of the bills of sale are in the folder. There is no rust from the salty roads that come along with driving up North. The only aftermarket parts on this car are the Walbro 255lph fuel pump, and the Crane adjustable fuel pressure regulator. It has a Ford Motorsport A237 roller cam in it along with the adjustable cam gear so it has a nice lope to it. Tires are new and have about 6,000 miles.
This SVO comes with a few additional parts, which include: a NOS HR980 AC compressor, Ford SVO bra, the original radio (which needs to be installed, does not come with the after market head unit because I plan to put it in a different vehicle), comes with two 10" kenwood subwoofers and a sony amplifier, an extra computer, and 4 extra ORIGINAL SVO take off wheels with Goodyear Gatorback tires which have less than 5,000 miles and NO dry rotting (for show use only). This car is awesome, and has been one of my favorite SVOs I've ever had. Due to the rarity, and my love for SVOs I am not willing to selling this vehicle to anyone who has plans to put a V8 in it. Ford cranks up '32 Ford body production
Tue, 14 Jan 2014If you're going to build your own hot rod, you'll want to start with a '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe. Favored by American servicemen returning from World War II, the '32 Ford remains the very icon of the hot rod to this day. The trouble is there were only so many of them made in the first place, and finding one today can be a challenge. That's where reproduction models come in.
The aftermarket is replete with companies that will sell you a fiberglass body in the form of a '32 Ford coupe, but quality can be hit or miss. So to help meet demand among hot rod builders and enthusiasts, Ford has teamed up with United Pacific Industries to offer officially licensed body shells.
Announced at the SEMA show in November, the '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe body is made from stamped steel according to original specifications from original machinery where possible or reproduced machinery built to the same original specifications where necessary. The bodies are ready to accept vintage powertrains or crate motors from the Ford Racing catalog, and join the 9,000 other parts offered in the Ford Component Sales catalog - including similar reproduction bodies available for the 1965-70 Mustang and 1940 Ford Coupe. From there, the proverbial sky's the limit.
2014 Ford Mustang GT
Fri, 17 May 2013I was more than a year removed from my last experience with the Mustang GT and its delicious 5.0 V8 when this new 2014 example rolled up to my driveway recently. Good weather and a planned road trip across the state meant that I would get plenty of seat time in this conservatively specified example, too. In total, I logged about 400 miles in a week of driving - not a lot for some of you super commuters out there, but quite a lot for this work-from-home journalist.
The basic formula of the 5.0 has stayed the same for 2014. The 2013 model year saw a number of updates to keep the Mustang fresh until it's replaced with an all-new generation for 2015. So, for its bon voyage tour, the fifth-generation Pony Car has seen only a few modifications: a couple of new paint colors (Oxford White and Ruby Read Metallic), trim and wheel revisions and, sadly, the deletion of the Boss 302 from the Ford lineup. However, while the limited-edition Boss is likely to reappear sometime after the gen-six Mustang makes its debut in 2015, the GT Track Package cars like the one I tested provide at least a partial solution for those looking for hot laps.

Aluminum lightweighting does, in fact, save fuel
Mon, Apr 14 2014When the best-selling US truck sheds the equivalent weight of three football fullbacks by shifting to aluminum, folks start paying attention. Oak Ridge National Laboratory took a closer look at whether the reduced fuel consumption from a lighter aluminum body makes up for the fact that producing aluminum is far more energy intensive than steel. And the results of the study are pretty encouraging. In a nutshell, the energy needed to produce a vehicle's raw materials accounts for about 10 percent of a typical vehicle's carbon footprint during its total lifecycle, and that number is up from six percent because of advancements in fuel economy (fuel use is down to about 68 percent of total emissions from about 75 percent). Still, even with that higher material-extraction share, the fuel-efficiency gains from aluminum compared to steel will offset the additional vehicle-extraction energy in just 12,000 miles of driving, according to the study. That means that, from an environmental standpoint, aluminum vehicles are playing with the house's money after just one year on the road. Aluminum-sheet construction got topical real quickly earlier this year when Ford said the 2015 F-150 pickup truck would go to a 93-percent aluminum body construction. In addition to aluminum being less corrosive than steel, that change caused the F-150 to shed 700 pounds from its curb weight. And it looks like the Explorer and Expedition SUVs may go on an aluminum diet next. Take a look at SAE International's synopsis of the Oak Ridge Lab's study below. To assess the primary energy and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) implications of vehicle designs utilizing these materials, this study examines the potential life cycle impacts of two lightweight material alternative vehicle designs, i.e., steel and aluminum of a typical passenger vehicle operated today in North America. LCA for three common alternative lightweight vehicle designs are evaluated: current production ("Baseline"), an advanced high strength steel and aluminum design ("LWSV"), and an aluminum-intensive design (AIV).
