1986 Ford Mustang Lx Convertible 2-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Levittown, Pennsylvania, United States
Owned since 1998, restored partially and now needs a fresh resto.
Most recently replaced items include, springs, fuel tank, convertible hydraulics, rebuilt automatic trans and timing chain. I would like to see this car go to a new home where it can be restored back to a fun-to-use condition. It has GT 4 lug wheels, which makes it look like a GT, but it's a V6 under the hood. It passes yearly inspections and now is used only in fair weather. The engine needs work, either a rebuild or replaced, as it has a bad bearing. The top needs to be replaced and the paint is tired. It has never been crashed and does not have rust. It comes with many extra parts such as, another set of tail lights, bucket and rear seats, documented maintenance history since I have owned it, cowl cover, kick panels, and new arm rest. The current bucket seats are from a Mercury Cougar and are much more comfortable than the originals. This is a basic-optioned car. Power steering, power brakes, power top. Manual windows, no a/c, no cruise. All the gauges work except for the low fuel indicator light which is always on. With the lighter V6 engine, the handling is nicely balanced which is nice on country roads. I have enjoyed working on this car over the years and driving it, but now it is time to change. |

Ford Focus refresh shots leak ahead of Geneva
Sun, 23 Feb 2014In case you haven't been paying attention, Ford has been gradually redesigning its lineup to sport a familiar face. The Aston Martin-inspired grille shape debuted on the Fusion and was soon applied to the Fiesta. Even the front end of the new Mustang takes its cues from the same, and we're sure other models will soon be made-over to fall in line. The next on the docket? The Focus.
Set to be unveiled in little over a week at the Geneva Motor Show, the revised Focus has leaked out a tad early, revealing a mild facelift that bears that same trapezoidal grille with horizontal slats. Along with the new grille, the headlights, lower fascia and hood appear to have been reshaped. Around back there appears to be a new rear bumper and taillights, but otherwise the shape remains largely the same as the current model.
Expect the updates to be applied to all bodystyles offered around the world, including the hatchback, wagon and sedan. The engine lineup is expected to carry over largely unchanged, though the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the C-Max Energi could port over to the revised Focus. Plus Ford seems to have taken the opportunity to spruce things up in the cabin some. Check it out in the image gallery above and watch this space for the official announcement as we pack our bags for Switzerland.
Ford dominates most-stolen SUV list
Tue, 17 Jun 2014
The Ford Escape leads the NICB's list with 1,421 examples stolen.
If you drive a recent Ford SUV or crossover, you may want to keep a watchful eye out for thieves - especially if you live in the New York metro area or in Detroit. A new study from the National Insurance Crime Bureau has named three Ford models as the most likely vehicles in their genre to be stolen, with CUVs in general being especially attractive to bandits.
Marchionne open to combination with Ford or GM
Fri, Mar 13 2015At the depths of the auto industry implosion, there was widely reported talk that General Motors and Chrysler would be merged into a mighty import-beating behemoth. While such notions clearly never materialized, that doesn't mean the idea is dead. In fact, FCA boss Sergio Marchionne still welcomes the idea of a partnership with either GM or Ford. He responded positively to the idea, calling it "technically feasible," when asked about it at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Automotive News reports. "There's bantering that goes on all the time," Marchionne told AN, before quashing suspicions that a plan was in the works by adding that "nothing substantive" was going on. Our favorite black sweater enthusiast isn't quite as interested in the idea of teaming with a foreign manufacturer like PSA Peugeot Citroen, or in the rumored tie-up with Volkswagen, though. That is a shame, particularly in regards to Marchionne's shut down of a partnership with the French, although it isn't necessarily surprising – FCA already consists of eight automakers, and as Sergio told AN, there's really nothing at PSA that could help the company out. What are your thoughts? Is there an obvious project or segment that would benefit from an FCA partnership with Ford or GM? Have your say in Comments.
