1986 Ford Mustang GT

Up for auction is my 1986 Ford Mustang GT. I have had this car for over ten years and have enjoyed every bit of it. I know the car's history and like to show you this to represent that this car hasn't changed many owners or tinkered on here and there by multiple people. I bought in July 2003 from my employer. He bought it for himself in North Carolina about five years prior. It was completely stock and unmolested besides an exhaust. During his ownership he had rebuilt the stock T-5 five speed and had the car completely repainted.
When I bought the car it was still factory as they get, minus the exhaust.

  • In late 2004 I installed the welded sub frame connectors, lowered the car with Ford Racing "C" springs, Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, and installed FRRP 3.73 gears.
  • 2005 the car received 17" FRRP Cobra R Silver Wheels and the 87-93 rear quarter windows
  •         2006 was the year for the engine upgrade. It was built with another block, so I could still drive it.
347 SCAT Stroker Forged Pistons @ 10.5:1 Compression
Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE274 .555/.565" 112LSA
185 AFR CNC Aluminum w/ upgraded valve spring to accomodate the cam specs
Crane 1.6 Full Roller Rockers held solid with a CAT rocker stud girdle
Fully ported GT40 lower intake and Comp Cams Polyer Powerbox Upper
70mm Professional Products Throttle Body
76mm C & L Intake Elbow with MAF calibrated to 30lb/hr injectors
Shorty Headers
Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch (Awesome holding, even better pedal feel!)

Cowl Hood installed to clear the intake.
To help the new stroker breath better, over the winter of 2006-07, I installed 1-3/4" BBK Long Tube Headers and a BBK X-Pipe
Over the winter of 2007-08, the aluminum radiator and Taurus fan were installed, with auxiliary P/S cooler and the five lug conversion was completed using:
  • 94-98 Mustang Axles and Rear Discs
  • 2000 Front Spindles with Dual Piston PBR calipers.
  • KYB 4-Way Adj. Front Struts
  • FRRP Parking brake cables
  • AFS 17"x9" 03-04 Cobra rear wheels w/ 275/40R17 tires
  • AFS 17"x8" 03-04 Cobra front wheels w/ 245/45R17 tires
I won't lie and say the car was never raced. With modifications as such, what would be the point of not enjoying the power? It was raced VERY occasionally, not every weekend or even once a month.  Including the time before the engine was built, it's been down the track in my possession only 4 times. I have all the times slips from when the engine was built. 12.5 @ 112 on street tires. The suspension is more geared toward handling so I'm sure with sticky tires and a drag suspension, it could very well be in the high 11s is desired. Also I never trailered the car. Always driven there AND back. Reliability.

The stock T-5 transmission was never made to handle much more than the factory power plant, as many may know, so in the spring of 2012, I installed a FRRP Super Duty T-5 transmission. While it was on the jack stands for the transmission install, an SLP Loudmouth cat back exhaust system was put on as well.

Just a month ago, I installed a new rack and pinion and had the car aligned.

This car you can truly get in and enjoy the ride.  It goes down the road with no pulling or vibrations. It's not a show car by any means, but it is super clean. There's very minor flaws that come along with a car that's actually driven. The mileage will go up as I still drive it.

Here's a quick video of the car idling with a quick blip of the throttle.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. For what has been invested, the reserve is very modest.  You couldn't build a car like this at that price!

Ford rakes in record $2.5b profit during Q1 of 2016

Thu, Apr 28 2016

Fears that the auto industry is due for a downturn may be fading. Ford posted record profits in the first quarter of 2016, the company announced Thursday. Chief financial officer Bob Shanks said Ford enjoyed its best quarterly performance in history, generating operating profits of $3.8 billion and a record profit margin of 9.8 percent. Overall, the company's $2.5 billion profit in the quarter more than doubled from the 2015 quarterly results. "The first quarter was an absolutely terrific start to the year, an all-time record for the company, with very strong performance across the business," said chief executive officer Mark Fields. "We're excited about our future and confident in our ability to deliver long-term growth and profitability as we expand our business model to be both an auto and a mobility company." During the quarter, Ford announced the creation of Ford Smart Mobility, a new subsidiary that would vet future mobility projects in the realm of car-sharing, fractional ownership and autonomous deployment. The company also kicked off a billion-dollar makeover of its Dearborn, Michigan campus and headquarters. The company's after-tax earnings of $0.68 per share trumped Wall Street's expectations, and were significantly up from $0.39 per share a year ago. The results were buoyed by the company's fourth consecutive quarter of growth in Europe, which comes after a long period of stagnant sales. Ford's earnings results come amid reports that April car sales are on pace to jump 4 percent year over year, which would make it the best-selling April in history. Kelley Blue Book projects that car sales will reach 1.51 million this month, placing the industry on track for 17.5 million vehicles sold in 2016. Even as SUV and crossover sales drive the market, analysts say Nissan and Honda are positioned to benefit from renewed interest in mid-size cars. "Following a disappointing March, we expect sales to get back on track in April with SAAR in the mid-17 million range," said Tim Fleming, analyst for Kelley Blue Book. "Increased fleet sales and rising incentive spending among automakers remain the factors to watch, but the retail demand appears to be holding steady, signaling the industry's strong run isn't over quite yet." Enterprise customer billed $47k for Mustang stolen from rental lot

Sun, 05 Jan 2014

A weekend rental of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible sounds like a nice, relaxing way to burn some gas, but one Nova Scotia woman's two-day rental is turning into a months-long headache. In early October, Kristen Cockerill picked up the Mustang from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and she returned it the following day as stipulated by the rental contract. Unfortunately, she dropped the car off on a Sunday - a day on which the particular Enterprise office is closed - and the car ended up being stolen overnight.
Now, two months later, CBC reports that Cockerill received a bill from Enterprise for the full replacement of the car totaling $47,271 (a base 2014 Mustang GT Convertible currently costs $40,349 in Canada). As it turns out, the fine print in the contract says that the renter is responsible for cars dropped off after hours until it can be inspected the next business day - this is also reflected on the key drop seen in the news report video, which states "vehicles returned after hours are the responsibility of the renter until inspected on the next business day."
It's not clear how much, if any, of that amount Cockerhill will be responsible for once her insurance company gets involved, but if the insurance company refuses to pay, Enterprise will bill the amount to the credit card she provided during her rental. While this ordeal is far over for Cockerhill, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to always read the fine print.

Quitting Mexico factory helps bring down Ford earnings $200 million in 2016

Thu, Jan 26 2017

Ford released its 2016 earnings report this morning, and despite a fourth quarter net loss it proved to be the automaker's second most successful year ever, following record breaking numbers in 2015. Losses for the year come from a number of sources, including accounting changes and a $200 million hit for backing out of the small-car factory in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Despite the loss, come March 9 about 56,000 UAW-represented employees will receive a $9,000 profit-sharing check. That, like most of Ford's other 2016 metrics, is slightly down from the year before, but it's still the second best profit-sharing payment ever. Total net income was $4.6 billion, down $2.8 billion from 2015. Total revenue for 2016 was $151.8 billion, up $2.2 billion. Ford's earnings report lists a global market share of 7.6 percent, down a tenth from 2015. Ford's European and Asia-Pacific markets posted their best and second best pre-tax profits respectively. The South American, Middle East, and African markets all took hits because of unstable economies and other external factors. Ford expects to have another down year in 2017 as it invests in new and emerging markets and focuses more on its mobility projects.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
